Apartment Grillon was a complete disaster — it almost left us stranded on the street and ruined our entire itinerary.
Last month we booked Apartment Grillon by Interhome. We arrived in Zermatt at night and, following both Google Maps and Interhome’s instructions, we were unable to find the property. My wife and I dragged heavy luggage up and down steep paths, with our young child, but we just couldn’t locate the address at Wiestistrasse 136. Thankfully, the local Swiss people were very kind and offered to help. In total, three different groups of locals tried to assist us, but even they couldn’t find the apartment. Just as we were about to seek help from the police, a local stopped a taxi driver, who finally showed us the entrance to a small path.
Finding the path was only the beginning. After leaving the street, only the first 50 meters were paved; the rest was uneven stone slabs with wide gaps, followed by over 40 steep steps. With luggage and a stroller, it was nearly impossible. It took us more than 100 minutes from station just to reach the first floor of the apartment. Because of this, we were unable to complete the planned Peak2Peak itinerary the next day, which delayed the rest of our itinerary.
Interhome’s dishonesty is unacceptable. Before our trip, I told them that we had four large suitcases and a young child, and asked about accessibility. They never mentioned that the apartment was unsuitable for luggage or strollers, and instead claimed it was a “10–15 minute walk.” That is simply false.
As for service—there was none. Interhome seems only interested in collecting money. Inside the room was an A4 binder full of rules, kindly threatening guests with extra charges if they didn’t follow every detail: take out trash to a specific outdoor bin, strip bed sheets, and return the apartment exactly to its original condition. Although I booked for four people, no beds were prepared; we had to set them up ourselves, and on the last day strip them again. For this price, the service level was worse than a hostel, yet the cost was several times higher.
Even worse, the apartment discriminates against guests by not allowing them to use the washing machine—something Interhome never disclosed in advance. When I asked, they casually replied: “No washing machine for the clients in this building. it’s only for the residents. That’s why it is not mentioned in description.” By this logic, when dealing with Interhome, you might even have to check whether there are floors, walls, or door locks provided, because anything you assume should be there can simply be withheld if it’s not mentioned —Absolutely ridiculous.
Summary: If you are an international traveler with large luggage or a stroller, I strongly advise against staying at Apartment Grillon. It will cause unnecessary stress and disrupt your travel plans.
Interhome is a profit-driven company that provides zero service and deliberately withholds important information. This was my first booking with Interhome, and it will also be my last.
Finally, I want to sincerely thank the local Swiss people who spent so much time helping us. Some even carried luggage and ran up and down the steep paths with us. Without their help, we surely would have had to spend the night on the streets. My family and I are truly grateful — thank...
Read moreWe booked an apartment up on the hill, and the path was icy, upon request to remove the ice and make the apartment accessible they basically said it wasn't their business / duty. In order to not have my wife fall a second time, I spent 1 hour cleaning it myself ( incl putting salt ).
We staid only 4 days of the 10 nights we booked. Did not expect refund, did not get refund. Only the Kuhrtaxe.
( additional review after their ridiculous response )
As you can read from their answer, there is no accepting of responsibility from Interhome. "We are not responsible for maintaining [...] shared areas". They were informed that there was ice on the path and not safe to get to the apartment, and they knew that nothing would be done till earliest Monday ( we arrived Saturday), but they could not be bothered to remediate. Basically its up to the guest to clean the path. They do not guarantee access to the apartment .... "It's not our responsibility, we only rent out the place" we were told.
In regards to the comment of "Extreme weather conditions", it was not snowing since at least 2 days; the ice was left over from previous snow that was not cleaned away. Also I don't know of any "snow grips" for ski boots, but I can say that path in the original ( before I personally cleaned it ) condition was not safe in ski boots.
And finally, there was an "elevator" ( for less mobile people to tackle the stairs ) which we were told we could use to get our luggage to the apartment by one of the Interhome employees, but that was out of order and not repaired for the whole week we staid there. Upon calling them and letting them know of the fact it was not working we were told that it's only for impaired people, not for luggage.
What a Joke of...
Read moreStayed at Apartment Primavista end of July 2025. Be aware that early check-in is not available at this property. It's managed by Interhome, whose local office closes daily from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.—a full four hours for what they refer to as a “lunch break.” While a short lunch closure is understandable, this extended downtime feels excessive, especially compared to other property management companies that remain open during typical travel hours.
If you happen to arrive during this window, there is no place to store your luggage, and you may find yourself stuck carrying it around town until check-in begins at 4:00 p.m. This can be particularly frustrating after a long journey.
Additionally, the instructions for picking up the physical keys were unclear. When we called for clarification, our call was routed to Interhome's main Swiss customer service line. Unfortunately, the response we received was dismissive and more focused on enforcing policy than addressing the actual inconvenience. There was little empathy for travelers caught in this rigid system.
Nice apartment located on the far northeast side of town, about an 8–10 minute walk to the main area where most shops and restaurants are at. The kitchen is well stocked, and there's plenty of space to spread out. A large patio offers beautiful views of the mountains and the Matterhorn. The block-out shades are a thoughtful touch—especially helpful if you're adjusting to jet lag. The unit is in a larger apartment building with year-round residents. While it's listed as a ground-floor apartment, it's actually situated above lower-level units. on your check-in . Overall, it’s a nice place to stay, though there can be some noise from neighbors above and...
