Old Zermatt — Restaurant in Zermatt

We ordered a fondue and the meal met our expectation. The quality of the fondue as well as the portions were good. Unfortunately, the service did not meet our expectation. When we entered the restaurant, we looked for a place near the window (Matterhorn view). We saw a place in the open, second room and asked the waiter (a bald man. Not Swiss) if we can sit there. Instead of a "warm welcome", he instantly accused us that we opened the door of the room and mentioned that the empty table is not available (remark: of course we did not open that door). He neither showed us an alternative - we actively had to ask if there is another free table (time: 16:00pm). (Remark: If you do not get a seat near the window, you sit somewhere in the middle of the restaurant without any good view and atmosphere.) When we were ready, I asked the same waiter if we can order. His answer: "It is ok Monsieur!" - combined with an "eye rolling". During the acceptance of the order we could clearly "feel and see" his bad mood. I had never experienced such an unfriendly and unwelcoming service in a restaurant before. After reading the previous reviews, I understand that most bad experiences are related to the same (bald) unfriendly waiter. I do not understand why this person still works there or can behave like this after all those bad experiences. As a consequence, I do not recommend this restaurant. There are better restaurants in Zermatt where they are still happy...

If you want to sit at a nice and cozy place, come here. If you want dull food for the highest price imaginable, also come here.

We got the cheese fondue with bread and potatoes. The food tasted dull, the bread was not frech, maybe from the early morning. If you pay almost 40Fr per person for some heated cheese, you at least expect the bread that comes with it, which you dip in the cheese to be able to eat it, to be something of high quality. It was simply not. It tasted like it was from the local supermarket. No whole grains in it or anything special that distinguishes the bread from some plain old white bread. I find it hard to believe this menu can truly make someone enjoy their diner. After eating the bowl of bread with the cheese, you become nauseous. It is too much of the same stuff. And after getting the bill, you might want to reconsider your decision coming to the restaurant at all. The service was ok, nothing worth the money you have to leave there.

Simply cannot recommend. Spend your well earned money elsewhere, because here you simply cannot get...

At first when we entered this place it seemed fine the price looked reasonable and it was recommended by our hotel.When we sat down to order the it took a while (20 mins) before someone came to take our order. We had arrived at 8:01 and JUST THE APPETIZER came an hour after.And after that they messed up my fathers order.We asked to speak to the manger and when she came over she had a very bad attitude after we told her everything that had happened she said in a very rude way “what do you want me to do?”.Then she started to argue with us and we had a baby (12 month old) at our table and the same way all babies do he started waving and trying to grab her.She got so angry arguing with us that she spanked the baby and that’s when we all lost our decency and wanted to call the police but she ran inside. Little do we need to mention everything else.We were just there a few days ago for vacation and everyone in Switzerland seemed so friendly but for some reason they made us feel like we were not welcomed.....
