We really enjoyed our stay here! We were in a Matterhorn view room and our view was completely unobstructed and straight-on. I loved sitting on the balcony each morning with a cup of coffee enjoying the view (the room had a kettle and powdered coffee packets). Our room was filled with light and a really good size for two people. I liked that it had a room safe and a fridge – convenient for storing leftovers and snacks. This was one of only two hotels we stayed at that didn’t provide a plug-in fan for the room but it gets cool enough in the mountains at night that it wasn’t really needed – we just kept the door cracked every night. This hotel is in a great location in Zermatt. It is a bit removed from the chaos of the main shopping street but only by a few minutes. It is on the other side of the river, which makes it quieter and also a little closer to the gondola station for the Matterhorn. I think it took us about 10 minutes to walk there from the train station, though there were also shuttles running frequently all over town if you didn’t want to walk (Zermatt is car free except for these – watch out so you don’t get hit!).| |I’d reached out to Hotel Bristol with a question about hiking poles ahead of our trip and they were very quick to respond and point me in the proper direction about where I could rent a pair (and at a discount, as a guest of the hotel). The friendliness continued when we arrived early, before check-in time. The receptionist was happy to store our bags and have them brought up to our room when it was ready, while we were out exploring. The other great thing about this hotel is the breakfast. It is included in the room rate and it is plentiful. Not only do they have the standard fruit, yogurt, cereal, and pastries. There is also a hot section where you can cook your own eggs...
Read moreFirst the good - Hotel Bristol is family owned-operated and it shows. The staff is so kind and welcoming, the facilities are kept up perfectly and everything is very clean. The breakfast spread was excellent and the location is perfect. It is a 5 minute walk from the main drag downtown, just far enough to not be too loud. You are also right at red and green bus stops, so all skiing is immediately accessible from Bristol. Hotel is very hot, but the radiators can be turned off in the individual rooms and balcony doors open, we slept with our doors wide open every night, which was lovely. ||The not so good - we didn’t not have a comfortable stay. We were in a triple room (which I believe is the 2nd to largest room type) and it was small and oddly laid out. In a destination where people travel with a lot of clothes/gear and have longer stays, I was surprised to find no dresser and only a tiny closet space. Lots of tripping over suitcases in the middle of the night since we could not unpack for our 7 day visit. The bathroom was soooo narrow, it’s a good thing I’m slender, but I still couldn’t stand straight in the shower because my size 42 feet didn’t fit across the tub! I seriously don’t know if a plus sized person could use the bathroom in this room. The bed was rock hard and the pillows lumpy & paper thin, which woke me up nightly. There was also something in the room that caused my husband and I terrible allergies, so it was an unfortunate toss up - would the bed wake me up first or not being able to breathe out of my nose? Allergies cured daily by leaving the hotel. After some long ski days, it would’ve been really nice to come back to a more comfortable “home”.||I wish I’d say we’d stay here again, but we...
Read moreI wish to express my dissatisfaction with my recent stay at Hotel Bistrols from Dec 16 to Dec 17.During my stay, I experienced an incident that left me quite unsettled. Around 20 mins after my check-in to the hotel, another group of tourists (think was a couple) was able to use hotel access card to access my room, we, both parties are shocked and super embarrassed. This situation raised significant concerns about the security protocols in place at the hotel. As a guest, I expect a certain level of safety. If the room was accidentally opened without my presence, I am not sure whether my belongings are going to disappear, this situation made me had just a light sleep throughout the whole stay. The lack of adequate security measures not only compromised my sense of safety but also made me question the overall management of the hotel. In an age where guest security is paramount, I believe that Hotel Bistrols should prioritize ensuring that all rooms are properly secured and that guests feel safe throughout their stay. A point to add is that the receptionist has poor attitude towards her service. The whole experience which I would not consider to give this hotel another try in future. I hope that the hotel will take my concerns seriously and address these issues for...
