This is going to be a long review so if you want the short answer - It’s a fantastic hotel! The bathroom is how I would want in my house. The room is modern in look and technology. The view from the room and patio is amazing.
Now the details: Once in a rare while, you come across a hotel room that feels manifested from your alpine living dream. Hotel Bellerive in Zermatt was just that for the husband and I. After 4 long hours of multiple train changes we reached Zermatt. We had informed the hotel prior that we will need the shuttle service from Barnhof and there it was, waiting to drive us to the hotel. One point for prompt service. We had reached a bit early in the day so Andrea at the reception recommended that we leave our luggage in the hotel and head to the town for lunch. She can check us in an hour or so when our room gets ready. When we got back, Andrea checked us in and showed us to our room. She literally came with us to show us the room. We wanted to ask where our luggage was but didn’t have to. As she opened the door, there it was, neatly stacked. One point for “making our life easy” service. The room is amazing but I will get to that in a bit. The people that work here are super nice and helpful. The hotel location is superb and everything is accessible with a short walk. I give one more point for that. Next is the breakfast, it’s one of the best breakfasts I have had in my 2 weeks stay in Switzerland. Fresh orange juice, made to order omelette, and everything home made. Breakfast is not to be missed when here. The lady who serves coffee makes little cocoa hearts on the cappuccino. The reason my review is getting so long is because details are everything. I am losing track of the points I am giving the hotel but stay with me a little longer. Now, the pièce de résistance – the hotel room. The Deluxe Panoramic room, booked on a whim by the husband turned out to be cozy with harmonious color palette, and a bathroom that epitomizes modern luxury. The rain shower and amenities mirrored our own preferences, making it a true home away from home. The room even boasted a section of glass roof, I saw the moon from the bathroom glass ceiling on a couple nights.
The amenities in the room are great, including a Nespresso machine for those craving morning caffeine. However, the view of the Matterhorn was the very reason we had journeyed to Zermatt, and it exceeded every expectation.
Beyond this, the hotel’s spa, sauna, and hot tub after a day of hike certainly helped the sore muscles relax and be ready for the next day of adventure. I would be remiss if I didn’t write about my husband’s joy at discovering that the room has enough plug points in practical areas. The light controls(more than one) are right where you would want them, near the bed. Another thing we don’t find in most hotels.
Now I am truly done with my review. We are so satisfied with our hotel stay that we are recommending our family and friends to stay here when they travel to Zermatt. It unequivocally deserves a 5-star rating. May I recommend that if you want to book a room here, it may be better to book directly with the hotel instead of third party websites.

Read moreThis was our second stay at this hotel—we visited once during the pandemic and loved it, so we were excited to return. The experience was still very good overall, although a few things felt different this time.||The hotel seemed much busier, which makes sense—Zermatt was buzzing with life, the weather was perfect, and it’s July, after all. Despite the crowds, our room was spacious and very comfortable. The balcony was a highlight—we spent hours relaxing in the soft chairs, soaking up the incredible mountain views (I even managed to get a bit of a tan 😄). The bed was cozy, and we slept really well… until our last night, when a family with small children checked in next door. The walls aren't very soundproof, so we were woken up quite early.||Breakfast was a bit chaotic this time. It was clear the staff was overwhelmed by the number of guests. The breakfast area felt a little crowded and disorganized, with food not always being refilled quickly and guests touching everything. One of the staff members seemed understandably stressed, but thankfully the receptionist stepped in to help, which made a difference.||One thing to note is the bathroom layout. In our current room, the bathroom is semi-open to the main space, and the toilet area is quite small—so privacy is limited. During our previous stay, we had a room with a more separate bathroom, which we preferred. If privacy matters to you, it’s worth checking the room layout before booking.||All in all, we still really like this hotel—it has a lot of charm and comfort—but it’s definitely more enjoyable when things are a...
Read moreWe loved our room (#302). It was much more than we expected. Free minibar if u booked direct and was cheaper than other 3rd party websites too. We booked the cozy chic room without Matterhorn view. The room was much bigger than expected. And we were a little sad not to have the view initially, but as soon as we checked in we were glad we didn't pay extra for the view, really wasn't necessary. Breakfast had a cheese cabinet and even had truffle brie cheese, a juice machine with apples carrots and ginger on the side. David on the reception was super friendly and helpful. So was everyone else, except for one young lady at breakfast on our last day there. She was offended right off the bat when I gave my room number and she couldn't hear it properly over the mask. Which isn't her fault or mine. But after that, it was just bad vibes all together. Side glares and rude attitude was hard to ignore.
Beware there is no AC (air-conditioning) in the room, which I understand wouldn't bother some people and we did realise after that it's virtually impossible to find any place with AC in Zermatt. So it's not a criticism to the hotel, but something one might need to consider when deciding to come to Zermatt.
All in all, I would still come back to Bellerive if we came back to...
