Overal, we had a lovely stay at the Alepnlodge in Zermatt. The rooms were comfy and warm. The bed’s mattresses were on the softer side for us, but still okay. We definitely missed a mini fridge in our room and had to ask the receptionist to put our small snack bag in the lodge’s fridge. Which she happily did. The lodge has a wonderful spa which we highly recommend visiting! The breakfast was decent, although we would appreciate a bit more variety between the days. The bread, croissants and cake were very delicious! Sadly we had an unpleasant experience during arrival, as we were picked up by a very rude taxi driver (Taxi Cervino) the lodge had arranged. We shared our feedback with the receptionist, but it was totally ignored. On our departure day we encountered unprofessional behavior from the staff during breakfast. The long-haired lady that served breakfast that morning (in the two previous days breakfast was served by a very friendly short-haired lady) seemed only occupied with making sure the table was cleaned. While we were visible enjoying our croissants and cappuccino she interrupted us multiple times asking whether we were finished. When we said: ‘no, thank you’, she started grabbing our plates, knives and forks one by one to ask whether she can take those. We told her that it is not necessary to grab our plates and cutlery if we just said that we are not finished yet for the third time already. But since her hands were already all over our plates and cutlery, she could as well take everything away. Once we did so, the lady got mad, smashed everything on the tray and started angry mumbling in German with receptionist while walking away. The receptionist didn’t bother to ask us what happened or inquire if we had any feedback. During checkout the receptionist asked whether everything was okay and we told her what happened during breakfast, while doing so the long-haired lady walked by and continued angry mumbling in German, she was not interested in our feedback at all. The receptionist did apologize for the situation. Such behavior is definitely not appropriate for a...
Read moreI cannot recommend Alpenlodge highly enough. This hotel quite literally changed the course of my trip — not just because of the stunning views and cozy rooms, but because of the incredible kindness and compassion shown by the staff, especially Virginia at the front desk.||I arrived in Zermatt during a very difficult moment. I was traveling with someone who, sadly, was treating me unkindly — saying hurtful things and making the experience emotionally draining. I felt overwhelmed and unsure how I’d make the most of the trip. When I explained my situation to Virginia, she responded with warmth, grace, and genuine empathy. She immediately helped me move into a beautiful room with space, privacy, and the most breathtaking view of the Matterhorn. That simple act changed everything.||The room became my peaceful retreat. Every detail was thoughtful, cozy, and calming. The generous discount they extended was also deeply appreciated and not something I take for granted.||Throughout my stay, Virginia was a constant source of support — answering my many questions, giving thoughtful recommendations, and just being incredibly kind. Her help gave me the confidence to enjoy Zermatt despite the circumstances.||Beyond the emotional support, Alpenlodge itself is spectacular. The views are unreal — some of the best in town — and breakfast each morning was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. The wellness area is another gem: the saunas were the perfect way to relax and unwind after a long day.||The entire team made me feel seen, safe, and genuinely cared for — something you don’t find at every hotel. I left feeling stronger, calmer, and incredibly grateful.||If you're looking for a place with heart, warmth, and views that take your breath away, Alpenlodge is it. I will absolutely return — next time under better circumstances, but with the same deep appreciation for this beautiful sanctuary and the...
Read moreI cannot say enough wonderful things about Alpenlodge. Not only is the hotel absolutely beautiful with stunning panoramic views of the Matterhorn and surrounding peaks, but the people are what truly make this place unforgettable.
During my stay, I was traveling with a friend and, unfortunately, we weren’t getting along. It was an emotionally difficult situation to be in during a trip I had been looking forward to. When I spoke with Virginia at the front desk, she showed me such kindness, empathy, and professionalism that I instantly felt supported and reassured. She went out of her way to help me — arranging for an incredible room that gave me the space and peace I needed, with breathtaking views that felt like therapy in themselves.
The room was cozy, quiet, and beautifully appointed — every detail was thoughtful and the view of the mountains from the balcony was absolutely spectacular. It gave me the clarity and calm I truly needed.
Breakfast each morning was also such a treat — fresh, beautifully prepared, and served with care. Enjoying a peaceful meal while soaking in the views became one of my favorite parts of the day.
Every single person I encountered at Alpenlodge was warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. But Virginia stood out for how she helped me through a tough moment with such compassion — I’ll always be grateful to her.
