La Calèche — Restaurant in Zermatt

La Caleche is a fantastic traditional French cuisine restaurant. It is by far the best restaurant I've eaten at in Zermatt and ranks up there with some of the better restaurants in Europe. The chef served wonderfully complex dishes whose flavors played off of each other. I had the Menu Gourmet tasting. The fois gras was perfectly cooked and laid down on a bed of truffles. The monkfish was cooked just right and was complemented with a tasty truffle risotto. The venison was superb and came with a polenta side dish that had an egg in it. Should have read the reviews before visiting. The food was not worth the money. The service was good, friendly, good timing, observant and present. To go in to detail on the food; the soup had no flavor accept for the crutons, the schnitzel was worse then a chicken nugget from Mc donalds, no flavor, almost no meat, no cheese, ham?, ... i don't know what I just payed 27...

Une excellente adresse avec un très bon rapport qualité prix. Déjà, l'endroit est chaleureux, agréable et plutôt calme. Il y a une grande salle avec beaucoup de tables, mais également quelques-unes près de la fenêtre. Ensuite, les plats étaient tous très bons, bien servis et faits maison. Il y avait un savoir faire du début à la fin : félicitation au(x) chef(s). Les Ribs étaient particulièrement bons et les légumes au beurre étaient succulents. Sinon pour la Wiener Schnitzel et les pâtes bolognese étaient également au top. Le service était rapide, très sympathique, réactif et à l'écoute. Pour conclure, les plats et accompagnements étaient d'une grande qualité avec un réel savoir-faire, le tout pour des prix très corrects pour Zermatt.
