Chalet Ulysse — Hotel in Zermatt

"I can't say enough good things about the chalet and Marilyn, the owner. We stayed over Christmas week with our adult children and their wives--7 total. There was plenty of room and the home was perfectly clean and very well maintained. There are views of the Matterhorn from nearly every room. We spent the evening talking and playing games around a real fire and there was even a Christmas tree set up for us when we arrived. We became local "experts" in using the bus system (it is free) and local taxis to get around, which was fun. It is about a 5 min walk downhill in the morning to the Matterhorn Express Gondola which takes you nearly to the top on the ski hill . We rented lockers for our skis at Dorsaz sports which is right next to the Gondola so we didn't have to carry them back up after a long day.

As far as Marilyn, she is the best host we have ever worked with, and I have rented homes all over the world. She was extremely responsive and very helpful, not just with the home, but with questions about the local area, groceries, buses, restaurants etc. She even had a recommendation for her niece, Deborah, who is a certified ski instructor/guide, who we used on our first day. Deborah was also fantastic. To top things off, Marilyn found out it was my birthday on Christmas eve and sent over a nice gift for me.

The home was exactly what we thought it would be and was a perfect place to stay at the base of the Matterhorn...

This house couldn't be more perfect. Marilyn and family were extremely helpful, responsive and welcoming. Anytime we had a question or needed anything they were quick to respond and were attentive. The house itself was well equipped with everything you could possibly need, and new. The rooms have the capability to have multiple sleeping arrangments. The house is located in a convenient location next to a store, a great restaurant and a playground for children. This is the perfect place for a family with or without young children, and very safe for them to go off and explore.

It is just a short walk to the main matterhorn lift, and next to the bus stop that runs frequently. We couldn't have asked for a better location and hospitatlity.

We would stay here again in a heartbeat and plan...

So many reasons why I love to stay at Chalet Ulysse (it’s our fourth year!).
