Jiu Lou Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Hsinchu

During the two-day conference, I opted to have my lunches at this Chinese restaurant while hosting my guest. It specializes in authentic Cantonese and Szechuan cuisines. The standout for me was the fried oyster with salt and pepper, a delightful choice. The fried mushrooms wrapped in meat made for excellent appetizers. Various Szechuan-style eggplant and vegetable dishes were appetizing. The double-boiled soup with radish featuring free-range chicken was particularly yummy. The abalone was superbly cooked, avoiding the chewiness that can come with overcooking. On the downside, the lobster noodle was somewhat bland for my taste, and the spare ribs were undoubtedly overcooked, resulting in tough and tasteless meat inside. Please don't forget the customers when they are on private room for dinner. Service was a pity we had 3to 4 differents waiters, not able to take the empty plates or clean a table, not able to bring enough folks or spoon.
