Karibu Inn — Hotel in Shangani

We needed somewhere to sleep, because our booked accomodation was canceled at the day of our arrival and in Stone town was some kind of international music festival and no free rooms at all (we went through cca 10 hotels). We found this one, we payed 45 dollars a night. Room was big, lots of young people around (they have also dorm style rooms). We had ensuited bathroom, AC also, but it wasnt working except of noise. Mosquito nets was smaller then beds, so they were touching you even when you were just lying. One of our prepared beds was horrible, you feel every move and also sprungs in your back. It wasnt so horrible as it could sound, I'm trying to write all not ok things, for you to know. If I need to stay in Stone town, I rather look for another place. But if this is last...

Karibu inn is located at forodhani, stone town, a 10 minutes walk from the center Behind the national Bank of commerce. It offers bed and breakfast and it's one of the cheapest in the area at about 35,000 tzs a night or 13 dollars a night... Situated in a nice corner, amazing staffs... You might not get a very high quality service but be sure to feel at home. And normally you shouldn't expect too much for paying so little. Nice place though I stayed 2nights and be sure to drop your mosquito nets before 6 or else you'll have the mosquitoes to answer to.. L'edifico è su più livelli, scale ripide e strette e senza ascensore. Abbiamo preso una stanza doppia per due notti. La stanza era al primo piano, senza finestre, umidissima (tanto che i costumi non si sono asciugati in due giorni) e maleodorante. Il bagno era separato dal resto della stanza solo da un muro di un paio di metri che non arrivava al soffitto. La stanza era davvero terribile. Dalle foto presenti sul sito sembrava una struttura semplice, essenziale, ma dignitosa. Invece, era più terribile del previsto. Abbiamo dormito coi vestiti addosso perché non ci sentivamo di dormire in quei letti. Terribile esperienza. Vorrei precisare che sia io che il mio compagno di viaggio, da anni alloggiamo in ostelli, quindi non siamo turisti con la puzza sotto al naso che si meravigliano di alberghi al di sotto di 4stelle.||Passiamo alla colazione, non c'era il buffet, e il cameriere portava un brick di succo di frutta, due fette di pane tostato, uova strapazzate e una fetta di ananas. Su ogni tavolo c'era un thermos (sporco) di acqua calda con cui farsi tè o caffè. Zucchero, burro e marmellata erano in barattoli grandi a disposizione degli ospiti, posso capirne il senso. Però Zanzibar e la Tanzania in generale sono posti in cui le condizioni igieniche non sono al livello degli standard europei, sono endemiche malattie come il colera, di certo confezioni monodose sarebbero più adatte per garantire situazioni di igiene. Inutile dire che abbiamo fatto colazione fuori. ||Allarmanti gli avvisi a ogni angolo dell'albergo che invitavano a non lasciare cose di valore in camera, ma di preferirne il deposito alla reception dalle 8 alle 20. Che albergo è se non può garantire la sicurezza delle camere? ||||Aspetti positivi: Il Karibu Inn è in un edificio antico, molto vicino al lungo mare, il famoso Forodhani Gardens. La posizione, comoda è sicura, è l'unica cosa che ci ha convinto della struttura.||La Wi-Fi funzionava bene ma era presente solo nella reception, in cui non aspettatevi divanetti o sedie, ma un muretto.
