Mama Mia - Gelato Italiano — Restaurant in Shangani

Tried five flavours and have to say that what they call “gelato” is simply not worth it at all. I could stop here but: I had high hopes for this place, but unfortunately, it was a total letdown. The gelato tasted artificial, like it came straight out of a cheap mix. Even the flavours were bland and unbalanced, with barely any resemblance to what they were supposed to taste like.

Oh, and the staff? About as enthusiastic as a DMV clerk on a Monday morning. Seriously, if you want a good laugh (and bad gelato), this place is worth a visit. Otherwise, do yourself a favour and hit up the grocery store...

Not sure how italian the ice-cream is. Had the stracciatella and cookies flavors: 3.5 stars to be honest. My colleague had nothing special to say about it either, but that’s not to say it wasn’t good. Just not mind-blowing.

Biggest plus for me was the location. Super convenient on a warm day/night or during a walk after a meal at one of the adjacent...

This was a nice, clean parlour. With more on offer than just the gelato - there were pastries, milkshakes, coffees and so on.

The staff were friendly and the price very reasonable. I was pleasantly surprised at the bill. I thought it was 49usd for 8 ice creams, which I was happy to pay, but it was 49,000tzs which was about a third of the price...
