Forodhani Park Hotel, Zanzibar — Hotel in Shangani

What a waste of money for a stay in stone town. The hotel is old, washroom pathetically dirty with rusted taps, room furniture old and not maintained. Our locker in the room didn’t work and even after repeated requests it was not repaired. We were given a choice to move to alternative room but they were of smaller size and with equally dirty washrooms. The breakfast is poor quality for the price paid and served in an open lobby without air conditioning. The hotel has not been renovated over the years and is now dirty. There was no hospitality professional and all issues were managed by a receptionist. Staff was not qualified, I’ll trained and definitely underpaid. Service was pathetically slow. Keep away as the online marketing and pictures of the hotel are misleading. We were a family with two kids and the kids were totally disgusted with the dirt in the room, washroom and over old furniture. Multiple complains were shamelessly ignored. The hotel is not even worth USD 50 a night. The worst experience in our post pandemic...

Dishonest . This hotel advertises itself as a 4 * hotel on all online platforms and prices itself accordingly . When in reality its a 3 star , stained flooring , not properly maintained , rooms smell mildewed , fridges are in a shabby condition etc.

Im a tour operator who fell for this trap and booked 15 people to stay in this hotel because of their star rating . I had to listen to yelling and a mouthful from my clients for booking Forodhani . The hotel staff were not even willing to apologise to my clients . The hotel manager refused to accept responsibility and actually did not show up at all during our entire stay at the hotel .

The location is not bad , but the approach to fooling people and charging a higher rate for a star rating that is not true is pathetic - Their principle obviously is - ' do anything to make an extra buck - even if they short change the client ! '

They were most unhappy and dissatisfied with the service and rooms . The receptionist said he could do nothing about the situation , and the hotel manager refused to show up at the hotel for the 2 full days that we were at the hotel . ||||The location was not bad , but we were clearly short changed and fooled by this hotel management obviously only so that they could charge us a higher 4 * rate .||||Almost like thievery and...
