Do NOT stay here (Feb 2025), read all the recent reviews there are known issues and problems. Find a different place to stay for same cost.|Do you want to wake up with a bedbug crawling on your bed? I didn't think so.|There are also cockroaches, baby ones.|I had to be changed room twice, for a three night stay. I had to leave after the second night and get another hotel, so double the cost for that night.|I only stayed here because my friends were also going to stay here and planned a tour from here, so it seemed convenient.|Local people recommend it, probably because of the hotel's former glory, it has marble floors after all...|Advertises as 4 star hotel, should be 1 star.||CONS:|-Very busy, loud street, with lots and lots of vagrant and homeless people right outside, it smells of urine and if you want ot go anywhere walking, you will have to zig zag around them. There are free meals for them quite close to the side of the property.|-No restaurants or attractions within walking distance without walking through dark, smelly sidewalks.|-Hotel was build in the 1940s and seems it has had very little work since then. |-Check in was neutral at best, short tempered receptionist saying loudly "sign here", "sign here", without giving you much time to read.|-Massive cell phone tower right next to hotel (south).|-Lots of moskitoes inside the hotel, and in the rooms.|-Only one card key per room, if you have two people you will have to synchronize your timings.||-First room was dated, but had some renovations like the floor seemed to be laminate and the bathroom had a shower. The shower curtain was disgusting, as well as the corners of the shower, they were moldy. The bathroom floor grout corners were also dirty. The closet and water amenity area seemed newer. The closet has a led light and while cool, you can also see all the dead bug prints left behind.|-The beds are extra firm, but maybe that is most of the beds around here.|-No iron/board|-There was a frequent cigarrete smoke, not sure if from the balcony or another room (supposedly is a non smoking property) as both doors had gaps and were drafty.|-Baby cockroaches in the bathroom.|-Requested another room on other side of the building, and moved.||-Second room seemed more modern, but it has carpet and it was so dirty the inside flipflops when wet in the shower would release visible dirt!|-The closet was not renovated yet and wooden doors are hard to slide open / close.|-The bathroom had a small mold circle on the ceiling and also around the tub corners and liquid soap/shampoo rack. Shower curtain and shower head were disgusting.|-Bring your own soap, no hand soap is provided.|-Bedbugs, I found and killed 2. Needles to say I immediately got my bags and left the room.|-Front desk staff were not surprised when I showed them the picture of the insects, so it tells me they know about it. Although they denied it and said it was not from the hotel... seriously? Then the two of them started screaming at me, because I was telling them I was checking out early and needed a refund for the unused night. They basically laughed at me and said "no refund", "no refund".|They offered to change the room, but I had it. No thank you.||PROS:|-Central location|-Very good water pressure and hot water. Toothbrush, shower cap are amenities. |-Some minor renovations in the room, but not much.|-Energy saving feature when single key is on the slot. It is within walking distance of many attractions|Despite the reviews on Google, it's a pretty nice hotel, no perks, no luxury... but it has everything you need for an overnight stay.|However be cautious if you are on autistic spectrum, with sensory sensitivities or just seeking quiet.||I can confirm that you won't get a smile at the reception, and while lobby Wi-Fi is advertised, it didn’t work during our four-day stay.||It's a huge hotel, with a restaurant, shops inside...|It has that Victorian feel, when the aristocracy had huge mansions, with huge staircases... I can just imagine ladies in wide gowns walking down those spiral wide staircases, and carpets that were wonderfully thick, absorbing noise and feathering as you walked up them.||Elevator... unbelievable, but this gigantic big hotel has only 1 working terribly small elevator, hardly for two people with suitcases... it has no safety sensors... after a few seconds the door just closes, no matter if someone is in the door or not... Somehow we and other people still managed to be painfully squeezed by them||The room|- It was big enough, the furniture was old, but we weren't bothered.|- One bottle of drinking water per person every day.|- The wardrobe had a light on when you opened it, which was a big plus.|- The bed with spring mattresses, when one person turned it on, the other person jumped on it too :D|- The window didn't close properly, but like I said, if you're just going to sleep and spend your days elsewhere, it doesn't matter.|- There was no soap in the bathroom at all during our 4 day stay... so we took a bottle of shower shampoo from the shower and used that as soap.|- As this was our first stay in Thailand, we were very pleasantly surprised to be given a hygienically packed toothbrush with mini toothpaste every day.|- Any towel that was barely used was exchanged for a clean one. However, it was not thrown in the bath or on the floor (as we are used to in the EU and USA).|- we had our own router in the room with our own wifi name and wifi pwd|- A bumgun is a given.||Breakfast was varied, the same thing every day and really not much European choice... More like American choice... No cheese, no different kinds of bread, just one sweet toasted one... there were cooked dishes, sweet bread on toast, 2 kinds of jam, butter, tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers... red melon and dragon fruit... one morning there was an extra pineapple of all of them.... . there was coffee in those big thermos flasks, tea in 2 glass teapots on the hotplates, with an awful lot of tea bags in each one... there were juices... we went early in the morning, just after they opened, so the lack of choice was not because the food was already gone. Another interesting thing, at least for me it was strange... to go for breakfast we were given paper coupons... little blue squares with handwritten dates when you could go for breakfast... a person sat outside the breakfast room collecting these papers... she only let people in with valid papers.||Checkout - Although we were told luggage storage was free, staff attempted to charge us upon drop-off.||I would definitely not recommend the hotel for people with autism who have problems with e.g. sounds.|- there is air conditioning in the room, which was very noisy|- Until the early hours of the morning there was an annoying whistling sound every few seconds for about 10 seconds... After 2 nights we found out that it was the lift... We weren't living right next to it, but the noise was carried through the building, so we could hear it in our room.|- Also, the bed in the room seemed to vibrate (like mini electric shocks) when you lay on it... and it only stopped in the early hours of the morning... I don't know if it had something to do with the lift... my husband, who is neurotypical, didn't feel it... I felt it on both sides of the bed...|- Loud noise from the street until at least 2 a.m. But when you've been walking around all day, you're so tired you...
