The property of Dang Derm is split into 2 different hotels. 'dang derm in the park' and 'D&D Inn'.
Last time in 2020 we stayed at in the park and this was a nice experience. Rooms were quiet, modern, and generally well kept. The D&D Inn' was 25% cheaper this time around and shares the same facilities as in the park. This is great and makes it a great value for money.
However, the Inn rooms are located on the Khao San street side and the in the park rooms are located away from Khao San street near the main road and a parking lot. The difference this makes in terms of sound is insane.
Initially we were given room 2206, when we got in our room we already noticed it was a bit louder than the 'in the park' rooms but thought it was fine because it was mostly just some sound, ear plugs will do the trick. Sadly enough at around 1:30-2:00 AM this changed drastically. Right underneath our room there was a bar that played extremely loud music, and I mean loud. The bass of the speakers caused the bed, floor and bathroom door to vibrate and sound levels reached 65-75 decibels. For comparison, a room with some outside noises is around 45 decibels.
Neither of us were able to sleep that night untill the bar stopped playing music at around 5 AM. While the music was playing that night I asked at the reception if it was possible to move to a more quiet room which was possible, but only the next day around 12PM.
After walking up and down to reception 3 times we were finally (after waiting "a little more" all day till 18:00) moved to room 2607, which was located on the 6th floor. This room was better, but the bass from the club still managed to be very noticeable and since it's such a not consistent noise it makes it impossible for me to sleep.
In short, if you are planning to sleep before 5AM, opt for the 'in the park' hotel. If you are out partying every night, or are not bothered by loud bass and music, then the D&D Inn is a fine budget option.
Dang Derm is a lovely property with great amenities and facilities. The location is amazing if you like hustle and bustle, and the staff...
Read moreOkay. So this is my third stay in this place. In the same building they have D&D and in the park. The location is still perfect even I didn't go to the bars because I just had no mood all those days I stayed. Why I booked the hotel is the pool! It's amazing. The view. The comfort. I have spent all my mornings, days and evenings there when it was not raining just to chill. And I will come back here after a week also because of that lovely pool. Another plus is the bed - It's huge!!! And super comfy. Now minuses - it looks like there is a balcony on the photo, and I am a smoker so I wanted a balcony, but....it's just a window that faces to the wall and the sound of working a/c was terrible. - shower....you can't turn it left or right, so it's hard to wash what you need to wash and the water hits direct on your head like stones - plugs. There was ONLY one plug. That was very uncomfortable. And one more.....it's not about a hotel, but about the agencys downstairs. A warm warn for another students not to make out mistake. When I will.come back to this hotel I will visit that lady and ask her for that trip she sold.Attention. If you stay in BKK in Khaosan road and decide to take a bus from BKK to Phuket or Samui doooooont buy a ticket from the agencies down the hotels. Never ever. I paid double price from it coasts if to take a bus from the bus station only because I have 3 heavy luggages. And I was promised we would be take direct from the hotel which was super convenient. So in the end with all my luggages I went by walk all those crowded streets for like 10 minutes. After all of us were waiting for the bus for another 40 minutes. And the bus.....it was a nightmare. It was made before my grandma was born. Super old. Uncomfortable. So it was 18:40 when we started our fantastic journey. At 5 a.m we stopped in some area called Surat Thani. Where are we still. We all need to wait till....8:30!!!! Just on the street. This is ridiculous! And a small, old minivan supposed to come. Learn on my bad experience and doooon't buy a tickets from the...
Read moreIf zero stars were possible thats what I would rate this hotel. My girlfriend and I have been backbacking through Thailand, and we had to find somewhere to sleep for one night only before catching a plane in the early morning. We choose DD Inn because we knew we would be able to get a taxi at 4 in the morning at Khoa San Rd.
We booked the room online.
When we got there, we were a bit too early to check in. We left our bagage at the hotel, but we needed a toilet quite much, so we asked at the reception. She only told us about one at the pool area, but didn't mention that that area was shut off. We asked another staff member, who wanted money to let us use the toilet.
When the room was ready we checked in, the receptionist told us: "By the way, your room is up against the street, so it migth be a bit noisy." This wasn't mentioned anywhere when we booked the room online. The noise was so crazy that we left at midnight to sleep in the airport instead. We had been to the street before and knew about the atmosphere, but this was extreme. The floor was shaking from bass beats and the windows couldn't be closed. It was litterally like sleeping in a night club. We had to yell to communicating in our room. This is the sort of thing you should mention to people in the room description.
Before all this, when we went to bed, we noticed that the sheets hadn't been changed from the previous guest. They were covered in nasty stains, hair and even a bit of blood. The worst thing is that the cleaner actually made the bed without changing the sheets, they just tried to cover it up. The pictures only shows a small part. I complained and we got fresh sheets, except from the pillow which had both a hole and a stain. Our towels had stains as well.
When we came to the room after having the sheets changed, the cleaning personel had left a walkie talkie at the floor. I went to the reception to return it and was meet with a look suggesting that I...
