Read moreMe and my girlfriend stayed at Oakwood Suites Bangkok for over a week during our visit to the city, and we truly felt at home. We booked the One Bedroom Superior Suite on the 22nd floor, which was very spacious and came with a great view. The suite had a separate bedroom (with a TV), a comfortable living room (with another TV), a modern kitchen, a bathroom with both a bathtub and a walk-in shower, a washer/dryer, and even a small desk.
On the positive side, the space was fantastic — much larger than typical hotel rooms, so we never felt cramped. There was plenty of storage in every room, which meant we didn’t feel like we were living out of a suitcase. The air conditioning worked perfectly and kept the apartment cool day and night. Water pressure in the shower was excellent — honestly one of the best hotel showers I’ve had. The bed was also super comfortable, which made it easy to rest after long days out.
On the downside, the desk was quite small and not the most comfortable for working. The kitchen was minimally stocked with just two of each item (cutlery, plates, mugs, glasses, etc.), but you can request more cookware if needed by filling out a form. For us, this wasn’t a big issue since we mostly ate out or ordered room service from the Acorn Café downstairs.
As for the hotel itself, the staff were always friendly and helpful, making our stay very smooth. The property also has a fantastic pool, which was surprisingly empty every time we went — we basically had it to ourselves (maybe because we stayed in September, which is low season).
The location is also a big plus: the hotel is on Soi Sukhumvit 24, just a 5-minute walk from the BTS station, which makes it very easy to get around Bangkok. The MRT station is a bit farther, but you can always order a Grab car or hop on a Muvmi tuk-tuk to get there quickly.
Overall, Oakwood Suites Bangkok was a perfect mix of comfort and convenience, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place that feels more like a home...
Read moreA very convenient location to stay as it’s just steps away from the Emquartier. The rooms and amenities are wonderful. Rooms are spacious, clean and well maintained. My only gripe is that there is no cutlery in the room and you have to ask for what you want and that room cleaning can take a while. So it’s best to inform the front desk when you want your room cleaned.
I visited the pool, gym, and resident room while I was there and was very impressed. The gym is one of the larger ones I have seen in Bangkok. It is fully equipped and comparable to a regular gym. It’s best to work out in the morning as the afternoon sun gets into the room. The pool is also one of the larger ones in width and length for a proper swim. There are two entry points into the pool with one that has steps and assisted handle in for those who need a bit of help. As for the resident room, it is like a large dining area, great for those who need a change in environment from their rooms, and there are biscuits and drinks available.
I think the area that probably needs a bit of a face lift is the reception counter, somehow the decor makes it look cheaper than what the service apartment had to offer. It’s the first thing you see when you step into the service apartment so that kind of sets an impression before going to the guest room. The bistro next door also needs a redesign in both decor and menu to attract the guests to dine in.
Other points to note: it’s so convenient to order food delivery as they will send it up direct to your room. the traffic on this smaller road is bad, so always book your ride share from the guest room before going down, it can take at least 20m before the car arrives, and it’s best to travel at off peak hours. they do not have international plugs or usb charger in the room, so be sure to bring your adaptor there is a nice little honey cafe just across the road, great for a drink or breakfast while waiting before your car arrives...
