PROS:||What an excellent hotel! It is modern, with new amenities, in a great location. It was a small room (Recharge) but perfect for me. It is not your traditional hotel, i.e. with a large hotel lobby and restaurant, etc, but it serves it's purpose, it is a CLEAN COMFORTABLE SAFE place to lay your head. Everything worked well - great shower (with seemingly endless hot water), excellent air conditioning (that you control), a giant TV, strong wi-fi, a super comfortable bed, and a solid door with a key card, deadbolt, and peephole. PLUS they even include basic toiletry articles and complementary water bottles, which was completely unexpected. There is 24hr coffee, tea, and snacks. The location is down a relatively quiet soi (street) right off of Sukhumvit, and just a short walk from the BTS Asok stop (you can take the train straight from the airport to the hotel). Other close attractions are the Terminal 21 mall and Soi Cowboy, and Nana Plaza is a comfortable walk away. Plenty of delicious street food, restaurants, and bars abound nearby! And as an added bonus there is a 24hr 7-11 less than a block away. It is now my GO-TO hotel in Bangkok.||||||CONS:||I was unfortunately initially greeted by a rude reception clerk (other staff were nice). If you plan on staying for an extended period of time the size of the room may present a problem. Likewise, if more than one person, the room can be pretty tight (there is no sitting area, such as a couch or table and chair - there is only the bed and a small desk right next to it). The shower uses refillable dispensers for the soap and shampoo, and while this may be more cost effective for the hotel, I believe it is less hygienic and allows for tampering. And while not an issue for me, the fridge is tiny (it is wall mounted and can only accommodate a handful of slender items). Finally, while I had the RECHARGE room (with a window), be warned that I believe the SNOOZE room...
Read moreI chose this place based on location and price. Location was convenient for my needs and it wasn't too expensive. Staff is nice and fluent in English. I didn't like it mainly because of cleanliness. It just wasn't clean. The first night, I stayed in a room that clearly hadn't been checked properly. So much dirt everywhere! Even the beddings didn't feel super clean as I was itching the whole time and had a hell of a night. Some mosquitoes too. Lots of stains on the walls, which were easily washable with toilet paper and water, so I'm thinking with proper equipment, it shouldn't be a big deal. Shower wasn't draining either so had to shower fast if I didn't want the room to flood. I mentioned all the issues in the morning at reception, showing photos and videos and the person there was very apologetic and didn't try to make me think I was unreasonable. They actually upgraded me for the rest of my stay, and the second, bigger room was better, but still not the cleanest. Much cleaner than the first one, shower was working properly, beddings were fine, no mosquitoes, but there were stains on the walls again and it just looked and felt gross. There were also a few tiny moths hanging on the bathroom ceiling. As I was very busy and didn't need to spend much time in my room, I stayed. I don't blame housekeeping for doing such a poor job. I blame whoever is in charge and doesn't train them properly and pay them enough. I wouldn't want to break my back on cleaning other people's mess if I didn't get treated and paid well. Suggestion to management : train your staff properly, pay them decently, and then they might do a better job and want to keep working at your hotel. A hotel cannot function well and keep a good reputation if you don't have a good housekeeping team. They are valuable, treat them as such. I go to Bangkok regularly, and I will not be staying at this...
Read moreStopping here 2 nights. But I should have left after the first night.
But let's start with the positives. ..The room itself is bright, small (but we knew this when booking) but it has everything you need apart from anywhere to put suitcases or anywhere to hang clothes.
The bed is incredibly comfortable The hotel is modern and situated really well for the BTS and transport links to get around the city.
However.. the cleaning staff decided to clean the rooms next to us at 6.30am every morning. And they love to talk and sit in the open stairwell and play videos to each other on their phones. I know this because they have been doing it since 6.30 in the morning!!! And they did the same the morning before that.
The open stairwell goes right from the basement up to the sky light and the sound echos all the way through it. Ironically you can't hear Bangkok from the room. Just the cleaning staff talking and generally making noise. It's almost like they have forgotten that people are trying to sleep in the very rooms they are waiting to clean. So if you're looking to sleep past 7am I wouldn't bother with this hotel.
It's not even shouting. It's just talking and laughing, banging of mops, rustling of bin liners. But with the design of the stairwell (which has a garden at the bottom) you might as well be attending a busy bar when two people are talking on the stairs and making this noise.
If the staff didn't start cleaning until later my experience would have been very different. I will NEVER come back or recommend this hotel to anyone. The concept of a city hotel is to provide rooms that people can relax in and get good sleep away from the noise and bustle of the city. This hotel has forgotten that. And it's...
