Less "autentico" than before. It looks like the new management's makeover of the menu and operations have rendered Mexicano Restaurante Autentico more simplified but less authentic than years passed. It makes the experience, while still fine, far less charming than before. Examples: They used to serve a little side dish of tortilla chips with a couple of sauces while you had a pre-dinner drink and contemplated the menu. Today, upon request only, you get some out-of-the-bag taro sticks. The "Baja taco's" used to include free form floured pieces of fish served on fresh soft corn tortillas. Today the fish pieces are uniform and breaded (which gives the feeling of a fast food item) served in fried corn tortilla shells (which is NOT the authentic ways Mexicans eat their tortillas). When you used to pick one of these up in your hands you used to feel you were eating something authentic and really unique in Bangkok. The mouth feel was delicious. Today's version just feels more like a glorified fast food taco. Not to say all is bad. The service is friendly and efficient. The margaritas are well made, and the table, seats and cutlery are all top quality. I was initially disappointed at the decision to stop delivery service. (It used to be a great option for a 10.00pm taco craving.) But given my recent experience with the new menu I would not be interested in ordering delivery.
Follow up: Not sure management actually read my review. They addressed NONE of my criticisms, but took the opportunity to gloat about their location and react as if I had a left a much more positive review than what I actually wrote! You are not as good as before for several reasons. That...
Read moreOn our last day after 2 weeks in Thailand we decided to dine at Mexicano. At the first sight we were a tad sceptical from the aesthetics and atmosphere, but the moment we sat down we completely changed our minds! The dinner was out of this world delicious, we ordered 5 different dishes and all were served extravagantly and tasted phenomenally 🙏❤️ Furthermore the live music was on point for atmosphere and the waiters were very kind all along, helping out with everything little thing we might need 🏅
To give a concrete example, when we ordered guacamole and chips, they brought down an entire wagon with a private chef who created our personal guacamole right in front of us, usinf specifically the spices we wanted, asking us along the way how much of each we would prefer. This resulted in by far the best guacamole I have tasted in my 29 years of my life ❤️🔥 Furthermore, the other dishes were served beautifully on the plates too, one was a massive chicken skewer with pieces of emat hanging all the way down from a big apparatus from which we could chop pieces off ourselves and spice the chicken as we prefered or roll it into mini-burritos if that was what we wanted 🌮🍸
Overall an absolutely fantastic experience and we will definitely be back next time we are in Bangkok, so thank you for a wonderfuld night Maxicano Restaurante...
Read moreWhen I walked into this restaurant, I thought I was back in a resort in Mexico to ambiance reminded me of a nostalgic moment, while holidaying in Mexico, and one of the many cities like Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco, and other small little fishing villages in Mexico 🇲🇽!!
Ordered the beef burrito, crunchy crispy nachos and their award-winning guacamole along with some cheesy enchiladas plus the SHRIMP TACOS 🌮 (OMg) 🥰🥰🥰😘🥰and of course it was lunchtime, so did not have their amazing margaritas although they looked quite yummy what looked even yummier was having drinks by the pool, so that is going to be another event that I will be organizing with my girlfriends to have a Sunday afternoon brunch by the pool!
Highly recommend this place it has great Mexican vibes and the food is great. The service is also very very good. Oh and I can not forget about the churros with chocolate sauce and ice cream that was heavenly Divine.!!
