on our recent trip to Koh Lipeh, Thailand, my friend and i got a room at Mama Bungalow. it was a little difficult to find since it's not a very big establishment. But it was a nice place to rest and refresh ourselves after our activities around the island. Mama Bungalow is located at one of the few intersections on the island. ||||it sits next to a 7 Eleven ( which was a lifesaver!), opposite a pharmacy ( we never went but saw the benefits of being closeby) and a Thai Lady Pancake stall (no. 3?). it's a 5 minute walk from the jetty and a 3 minute walk from the main/popular beach called Sunrise beach. ||if you are feeling adventurous, walk 10 minutes and you will be at sunset beach. Tricycles are conveniently parked outside all the time so if you dont like to walk or cant, just zoom round in oje of those bad boys.||||Since it was so close to everything, whatever we lacked in the room, we just went out tonget. but the room itself was great. the bed was comfy, the air cond worked well. there was even a fan if the air cond got too cold or wasnt cool enough. hot and cold water in the toilet made for great showers post dipping in the sea. there wasnt a vanity table and the cupboard was kinda small but since we live out of our bags, it wasnt really a problem. ||||my fav bits about the room was the pipe outside our room so we never went in woth sandy feet and the free water dispenser and water bottles they supply each time they cleaned room.||||the downside is because its a budget accommodation so expect some rowdy people and noise from the road. on oir last night of the trip, a really loud group of divers or vacationers ( im talking like 35 people) had a few rooms on the premises. it wasnt the most pleasant crowd to be around but luckily we were so tired that we just knocked out once we gor to bed. the TV despite being quite advanced woth USB outlet and all, was completely in Thai. even the English movies were in Thai 😂 so unless you find Robert Downey Jr. or Tom cruise speaking in Thai amusing, tge entertainment aint all that||||Overall, i think this spot is suitable for BUDGET TRAVELLERS who dont mind roughing it out a little. the big selling poi nt is the location. its not the most pristine or scenic spot for accomodation but accessing the beautiful parts of tge island is a...
Read moreThis is one of the best family run and budget hotels that we've stayed in. The family was overwhelmingly accommodating, friendly, and LOCAL. Their English was perfectly fine to me, unlike some of the reviewers that said otherwise. Maybe not as conversational as a native speaker, but basic enough to communicate perfectly well. You're in Thailand where most people speak Thai as their first language. ||||We reserved the superior room during our 2 week stay and thought the room was spacious and the bed comfortable. The air-conditioning was cold and a welcome respite from the heat and humidity. The wifi signal was strong and consistent. The bathroom was huge and the water pressure was the best we've experienced traveling through Asia. The hotel is also centrally located, a 3 minute walk to sunrise beach where you can snorkel right off shore, around the corner from walking street, a 7-11 right downstairs, and some delicious street food right across the street. ||||Overall, great stay on the island if you like to be close to everything. Great value for budget...
Read moreWe were picked up by Nee Nee, the very nice owner that didnt charge us for a pickup from the ferry. She made us feel welcome.||We came into the room to find an intense smoke/air refresher combination that made us feel uncomfortable. When we entered the bathroom, which is very spacious, the smell was awful, very moldy and no airflow whatsoever. When I read review complaining about a smell in the bathroom I always thought that this wasn't a deal breaker, but what we experienced here was next level nasty. ||We had to ask for cleaning the room several times. And although the owner is super nice and friendly, she seemed all over the place and her english is not adequate to understand us fully. ||We did get an extra hour late checkout, due to the weather.||The location is great, a couple minutes to the beach and right next to walking street and 7/11. Also not noisy. ||Conclusion, not worth the money and also other rooms had the same...
