My English not good. I tell my husband and he write for me. Sorry. We hopped into No43 at Cape House for breakfast on the way into town. You don’t have to be a resident at the hotel. We were gracefully welcomed at the door by a waitress who did that charming ‘Wai’ and offered one or two places to sit. They’ve got proper tables and chairs and those bench seat booths. The dining room is very tastefully decorated in a basically Italian style which is why they call it the No 43 Italian Bistro, I suppose. It’s very civilized with no blaring TV or pounding soundtrack playing. The waiter came over and asked if we wanted tea or coffee. It’s good strong coffee with a bit of bite to it. Italian style, of course. Just what you need to set you up for the day. Then we hit the buffet. There’s cereals but we didn’t go for those. There is the egg station where the guy did me a perfect poached egg and then there’s crispy bacon, fried potatoes, two or three types of real pork sausages and a range of fried rice and Thai dishes. There’s also the German-style breads, salami and cheeses and loads of French pâtisserie. The English muffins were perfect, soft and yeasty! The manager came over and had a friendly word and she told me that they bake all the breads and croissants in their own kitchen so it’s always nice and fresh. The place wasn’t full, surprisingly but maybe we got there a bit later than most, but the staff were always on the move, serving tea and coffee, clearing plates and cutlery and so on. My husband had never tried Japanese breakfast food so he thought he’d have a go. Very fishy, he said, but quite nice. To sum it up, if you are in that part of Bangkok, it’s near Chit Lom sky-train station, then I can really recommend it to set you up...
Read moreAh, No. 43 Bistro in Bangkok's Cape House - what a delightful find! From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in for a treat. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff immediately put me at ease, and I couldn't wait to dive into the menu.
I started with the spaghetti aglio Olio - a simple dish, but one that is often ruined by overcooking or underseasoning. Not so at No. 43 Bistro! The spaghetti was perfectly cooked - al dente, with just the right amount of bite - and the garlic and olive oil were well-balanced. This is the kind of dish that you could easily eat every day and never get tired of.
But the real standout dish for me was the beef lasagna. I felt like I was transported straight to Italy with every bite - the beef was tender and flavorful, the pasta sheets were cooked to perfection, and the bechamel sauce was rich and creamy. This is the kind of comfort food that you dream about, and No. 43 Bistro executes it flawlessly.
And let's not forget the wine list - it's not extensive, but it's interesting and well-curated. I paired my meal with a lovely red, which complemented the flavors of the food perfectly.
Overall, No. 43 Bistro strikes the perfect balance between civilized and relaxed. It's a great spot for a casual date night or a family gathering, but it's also welcoming to solo diners. The menu features straight-forward, tasty Italian classics executed with skill and care, and the cozy atmosphere and friendly staff make you feel right at home. I highly recommend No. 43 Bistro to anyone looking for a delicious meal in a welcoming...
Read moreHad a chance to visit today, the food was good but the service is horrible. Empty dishes were not replaced at all unless all food of the particular session are gone. Desserts are not add up at all till I need to request the waiters.
Used plates are added up till my shoulder level, then the staffs will collect. Reasonable or Laziness? You tell me. Moreover re-filling water, I had to request several staffs and no respond nor the willingness to provide water to my table at all causing me thirsty and needed to head to dessert session to get ice cube or get the water jug from the shelf by myself.
Good food, horrible service. Very disappointed as I always visit this place.
Looking for good food, I would suggest this place. However for the service,...
