This is NOT a hotel for disable person or elderly with limit mobility. First, upon booking after we emailed them about our elderly 96 years old who also need wheelchairs member as one of the guest, and we book two room through booking agency , they cancelled one of the room so we have to rebook again with two suites which cost us a lot more and just for us to realized that this NOT AT ALL A HOTEL FOR DISABLE. Parking for disable designated in the slope area. After parking in order to check in , we realized that the AMARI SUITE is in the separate building and not in the main are , required the golf care access, but disable person could not get into the golf car unless need lifting in which no one willing to do that and it is not safe so end up we have to push the wheel chair all the way but it is like passing the Jungle with no smooth terrains, it is up and slope. No safe ramp for wheel chair, we have to risk pushing it through the high slope to reach the pool area where all the kids in the swim suit running around with wet feet again tripping hazard, passing area in the middle of the hot humid sun, with 96 years old person , also passing through multiples bumps and cracks , before we reach to the building where AMARI SUITE located , in order to find out, there is a ramp but the golf cart often parked there and blocked the ramp, the entrance to the Amari Suite building is not smooth and level with tripping hazard, required two to three people’s manual lifting the wheel chair up to pass the door. The room itself also NOT wheel chair accessible, again to enter the room have to manual lift the wheel chair. Inside the room there is sliding door and seem large enough for the wheel chair except the entrance to the bathroom the sliding door was not able to push all the way and quarter way blocking the entrance make it hard to maneuver the wheel chair or walker inside the bathroom and not enough space between toilet and wall for the wheelchair to pass through make it so awkward to use the bathroom. Also bedroom all the bed is very high and inaccessible by elderly. The bathroom drainage is clogged with hair , cause the water flood after shower again tripping hazard, we have to tell them to come and removed the clogged drain. The bathroom sink is very high and inaccessible by elderly. There is multiple area rugs through out the living room and bedroom with tripping hazard even the regular person could trip and make wheel chair maneuver difficult. We went to the buffet area for complimentary breakfast, the food is horrid and so salty, the restaurant staff is indifferent and don’t care about where disabled people could sit down after checking in the front desk you were on your own trying to fight for the chairs and the table legs is so narrow and close to each others that it is not able to fit any wheelchair underneath, no designated area for disable person and no service or assistance from the buffet staff even though we asked where we could sit think they could at least seat us rather than pointing away to the direction and suggesting us to sit anywhere in the far most back area as though the disable person is the second classes people and as became burden to them. While we ate , no one came to collect the used plates and clean up the tables, even though we came during the weekday and not rush hours.
We are thankful for the bell person who tried to help us navigate the passage way for wheelchair in which could be easier access through the AMARI Grand Ballroom to the front of the ballroom reception where the van could pick up easier than try to reach the front lobby where we have to go up and down the very steep ramp and required multiple door ( not automatic and required manually opened ) to reach another elevator to go to the front lobby. However during our stay the grand ballroom have conference and it is quite a busy area with multiple booths and person make it difficulty for wheelchair to pass through as it is originally not intend for us to go that route. Sadly hotel is NOT...
Read moreAttention!!! This is no longer a family-friendly hotel!
If you have stayed at this hotel before, carefully consider other hotels. The hotel recently banned family guests from using the main pool and surrounding areas. Specifically, the main pool and surrounding area is no longer accessible to children under 12 years of age, even if accompanied by an adult. (The area circled by the red line in the attached image)
Previously, all pools were open to families and there were no age restrictions. Overall, I would recommend this hotel in Pattaya for its spacious rooms, friendly staff, comfortable lounge, and delicious PREGO restaurant. In fact, other than this inexplicable restriction on pool use, it would be great.
I asked the hotel staff why they restricted the use of this main pool area. They responded that it was because there were adults who wanted some quiet time to read, nap, etc. I have stayed at this hotel quite a bit and I would say that the guest ratio is about 80% families with children. The main target clientele of this hotel is families, which you can clearly understand if you look at their official website video clips etc. I have been to a few hotels that have separate pool zones for children and adults and I understand their policies, but I have never seen a hotel that limits the main pool to adult use. Many hotels are set up for adults with pools that are completely separate in location, but this hotel's pool is not completely separate from the rest of the pool, making it impossible for the main pool to be a Quiet Zone.
What is even more puzzling is that the smoking area is located near the pool, ignoring the voices of families who are very uncomfortable due to the wind direction, and the staff turns a blind eye to guests smoking electronic cigarettes, which are illegal in Thailand, and making noise on the beach chairs. Furthermore, according to a Thai family who recently stayed at the hotel, the ban on children using the main pool has made even the small children's pool too crowded and dangerous, especially for children under 6 years old. Although it would depend on the level of crowding that day, it is highly likely that the standards were not met in terms of infection control measures, such as corona.
The bottom line is that the hotel has cut off its main customer, the family customer, and only listened to the opinions of some adults. The prohibition of children from using the main pool is not explained on the official website, at the time of reservation, or at check-in. You will only find out when you visit the pool with your children.
Since adults who enjoy reading, napping, and sunbathing are not in the pool that often, I think it would be better to quit this restriction immediately and add more beach chairs and parasols on the ocean side (beach road side) of the main pool. That would be more suitable for the Quiet Zone. The hotel doesn't realize that the problem is that there are too few beach chairs and parasols on the ocean side of the main pool and in front of the suite building, even though it is scenic and relatively quiet to begin with. If I were the management of this hotel, I would not restrict the main pool, but find other ways to solve the problem. Because, they will just lose their...
