We stayed at Avilla Cave as part of our package tour of Turkey, and feel lucky we were placed here. First and foremost was the service - we felt so warmly welcomed (at midnight) and nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. The manager, M, gave us really helpful advice on the local wine region, and useful recommendations. While we went to the roof terrace to watch the sunset, he brought us a bottle opener, wine glasses and then laid out the full array of Turkish cushions for the daybeds, and a table to enjoy our pizza we picked up. With clear skies, and fabulous music from a nearby bar, it became a magical evening never to be forgotten. Our rooms were what we expected for a cave hotel (we've stayed in a few in Greece and Italy). Not over opulent, some typically Turkish decorations but with some age and character. Our bed was very comfortable, and the bath rooms were surprisingly large (I've had rooms in New York and London that were smaller than these bathrooms). And, of course, the rooms were very quiet, and the temperature always constant. Breakfast (included) was very Turkish with cheeses, olives, cakes, humus & other dips, breads, a few other baked goods, and boiled eggs. And some sweets (packaged)! Nice start to the day. The location was good for us, though it is still a mild hike up the hill from the shops. Fortunately, Avilla Caves is on the same road to (what I thought was) the top viewing spot for the balloons, so another mild hike up (one of our party was in their 80s). Fantastic. Negatives: we had problems with the safe in both rooms, but M was quickly on hand to give us the key; the fan in our bathroom was very noisy but only operated while the light was on. Overall, don't expect the Carlton Ritz, and enjoy the warmth and character of the rooms and the...

The bed in the junior suite is huge, as is the bath, although I couldn’t figure out how to use the shower head in the bath or if it was broken and no one was around at the time to ask.
The included breakfast has a lot of variety and we were even able to get a slightly earlier breakfast in takeaway boxes for our early departure on our last day.
Free bottled water in the rooms however tea wasn’t replenished after the first night, minor omission.
You can organise airport transfers and local tours through reception but I had already organised my own so I can’t speak to their quality.
Rooms are absolutely stunning however the main shower hose was leaking a lot which may have been responsible for the poor water pressure coming out of the shower head and made for unnecessarily prolonged showers.
Also it may be common to all the cave hotels but we struggled a lot with the dust inside!
A bit of drama paying for the accommodation at check in (they couldn’t charge the card associated with the booking for some reason, then apparently I entered the wrong PIN, then entering the card number wasn’t working, then the wrong amount was entered for payment, then it finally worked).
Upon first checking in, one of the ladies working here had a really weird expression on her face when I made eye contact with her which made me feel super strange.
Some frustrations with initially connecting to WIFI in the bedroom but no issues thereafter. Other than that the service was super helpful and I am compelled to give the...

Perfect location - just inside the gate where people have to pay to go to the view point for sunset - sunrise - Cappadocia hot air balloon. Walking distance to town centre and plenty of good restaurants within 5-10 mins distance.
Beautiful & spacious room + shower & bath. Basic toiletries are provided. Except shower caps.
The double bed was huge - mattress was firm & comfortable. The sofa bed wasn’t as comfortable. As common in cave hotels - dust and sand are expected.
Kettle - tea + coffee and water were provided in the room. Bottled water was replenished daily.
Breakfast was included, from 8:30 to 10:30 am. Great variety to choose for. At the end of our stay, Sina was incredibly helpful & prepared the breakfast earlier so we could have some take away breakfast for our all day flights.
There were minor issues like connecting to the internet, but Metin was straight onto it and helped us to get connected.
Suggestion for improvement in the details. Like fixing broken light in the toilet, broken toilet roll holder, leaky shower handheld, clean the stain on the rack warmer behind the bathroom door, complete cups for brushing teeth in the bathroom (ours was missing one).
Video of Avila Cave hotel room & view from Avila rooftop are attached.
Overall, although I struggled with the dust due to my allergy - my Cappadocia...
