I spent a week here at Mediterra Art Hotel with a family of 8 and I’m about to tell you everything there is to know about this hotel. At a first glance, this hotel is stunning. You can tell they put an effort into making the atmosphere aesthetic and classy. The hotel has a sort of over grown feel as there is a court yard in the middle which consists of an outdoor pool, restaurant, and seating area with tons of trees and flowers incorporated. The rooms have a separate aesthetic giving an art deco feel as recurring colors like Mahogany brown, red, and gold don’t fail to make the room look luxurious. Depending on the room you get the size varies(I know because I booked multiple rooms for my family). The rooms are well furnished each containing a vanity, fridge, tea kettle, television, and tons of closet space! The fridge is stocked with drinks and the bathrooms have all the amenities you need ranging from shampoo to body cream, they’ve got it all! There is an overall romantic ambience that enhances the hotel’s atmosphere as well. Next moving on to the to the important part… service. I would just like to start off by saying that Mediterra Art has IMPECCABLE service. The workers are kind, respectful and always willing to help. You get all of your luggage carried to your rooms and you can ask them for anything. The cleaners come everyday not only to clean but to refill the fridge, organize the room, and replace empty shampoo bottles with new ones. Not once did I have to ask for a refill of anything. Downstairs there is a restaurant. Through reading the comments I’ve seen people unhappy due to the lack of diversity within the food. First of all I would like to point out that this is a huge menu with food for everybody ranging from a traditional Turkish breakfast to burgers to Pina Coladas! So there is no argument in saying that the food isn’t diverse. Even the kids have something to eat! However what people need to understand is that this isn’t a bed and breakfast, this is a REAL restaurant that people can come, walk in, and eat at. You wouldn’t expect a normal restaurant to change its menu daily, so why is this one any different because it is a part of a hotel, specials aren’t customary, especially when there is enough variation to never get sick of the menu. Not only is the food great but I would also like to add that this restaurant has entertainment almost EVERY night. Yeah! There is always something going on at Mediterra whether it is live music or a Turkish belly dancer who makes everyone get out of their seats and dance. Location wise, this hotel couldn’t be in a better place. Mediterra is located within the castle surrounded by corner stores, restaurants, and boutiques all walking distance! There are multiple nearby beaches and places to have fun activities. And with just a 3 minute walk you leave the castle and walk straight onto the Main Street with even more stores and restaurants! However the hotel is located directly beside a night club that has music playing until 1:00. I stayed in room 422 which is said to be the closest room to the club and if you ask, me and the kids were not bothered in the slightest! Personally I do not believe this is a major problem to most of the hotel as you can’t hear anything from other rooms said my parents and sister in law. And even being next to the noise I don’t think this is a problem unless you are someone who likes to be in bed by 8:30. If so there are many other rooms to choose from. In conclusion this is a wonderful hotel with an amazing atmosphere. The workers make you feel welcome and like a family as they are eager to help. And there is always something to do around the hotel to experience. Overall us and the kids loved it and we will definitely be...
Read moreWhere do I even begin? At first glance, this place is stunning the design is modern and eye-catching, and I won’t lie, it looks amazing. But everything went downhill fast once we actually started staying here. First issue we ran into was that there was no wifi at this hotel. Wifi only appeared at random times of the day ONCE a day and not for long either so you had to make the most out of it. So forget about staying connected or making any plans online. Second issue is that the pool is made to have the illusion of being 2 pools however its only 1 and its the restaurant pool meaning you can’t swim in it and its just for decoration, if you came for a proper swim or poolside lounging, you’ll be disappointed. Third issue we ran into was breakfast time; same breakfast every day. No choice. No variety. You get what you’re given, and if you want anything other than tea, be ready to cough up 125–200 lira per drink. Not surprised though because the whole of Antalya felt scammy apart from the corner shop near the hotel who’s prices were actually sensible and reasonable. Fourth issue we ran into was the prices of lunch and dinner ; when i go into a hotel i don’t expect to be paying mortgage prices just so i can eat to survive. We had to go out of the hotel daily and walk to get our meals which was no problem to be fair. However taxis could not pick us up from the hotel so we had to walk about 5-10 minutes just to reach them and they tried scamming us as-well. Fifth issue we ran into was around night time like 8pm onwards til like 3am, there is clubbing partying loud music blasting through your drum holes ready to make someone deaf in the snap of a minute keeping the whole family up. Sixth issue we ran into was the rooms were unaesthetically pleasing to look at and be in. As soon as we got onto the bed and lied down on it it was hard as rock and so uncomfortable to be on, the blanket felt harsh on our skin and not the slightest bit warm AT ALL ; mediterrea COME ON NOW we spend about £500 each as a group of 4 yet this is the service we’re provided its GRIM if I wanted to sleep in prison conditions, I would’ve just said so. Seventh issue was the bathroom, it was giving POVERTY and the toilet was dirty on arrival. Opened the lid and was greeted with an absolute mess. No excuse for that. Eighth issue we ran into was when we were getting ready to leave apparently we took one coke from the mini fridge and had to pay 125 lira for a drink that nobody drunk which is worth about £2.78 and its more embarrassing for them to even lie about that for that small amount of money. Ninth issue we ran into was the restaurant was unbearable. Every table had people smoking no ventilation, no escape. It felt suffocating. Like how is a city so addicted to smoking I really don’t get it. Would I come back here again? No! I am not going back to Turkey not even if I was paid to come back. Would I recommend to friends and family? If I...
Read moreI personally wouldn't come back as both I and my partner had trouble sleeping due to the pub next to us having very loud music till 1 am. It literally felt like we were in a toilet club and imagine having an activity planned the next day with the pick up at 6 am!
If you decide to go, definitely make sure to ask for the room facing the internal area. Our room was 321 and it was just impossible. I've attached a video, but I don't think it shows the reality of how loud the music was.
Another thing that I didn't like was the staff attitude and some hotel rules. I've worked in hospitality jobs so I do understand the rules are not made by the workers, but the way they explained it was so rude. During the check-in they reinforced three times that drinks and food from outside were 'FORBIDDEN' - like I'm sorry but since when I can't bring things from outside in my hotel room? This is to make you pay for the minibar and charge you so much more when outside the hotel there is a convenience store selling at a cheaper price. Of course, we didn't take anything from the mini bar, but what kind of rule is this?
We had breakfast included in our booking. This is not buffet and the waiter will bring it to you, to be honest no issue with this, but nobody explained this and I had to ask while looking confused and waiting for them to actually get to me. On top of it, they only offer you Turkish tea and when I asked for juices or other things, they explained it was extra for that, so I asked for water and they looked annoyed. Also, the day after they forgot to bring me bread so I asked for it and the waiter ignored me, so I had to ask multiple times.
During the checkout, a worker took the key, didn't explain anything and went up to the room (I guess to check if we used the minibar?) while we were waiting there not sure if we could leave or not.
Positive side? The breakfast food was ok and the location is literally in the old town so there are many nice little streets around and many shops. Also the rooms were very clean so thanks to the staff who is in...
