My husband and I just returned from an 8 night stay in Turks and Caicos where we stayed at the Oasis at Grace Bay. I will start by saying we are seasoned travelers and travel multiple times a year to different destinations, so we have seen and been to many resorts. I knew when planning our vacation we wanted to stay at a more affordable and budget friendly resort because we planned on renting a car and exploring the island. I would give this resort a solid 4 stars. Iâll start with the positives: Really nice grounds, very clean We stayed in a deluxe room and it was fine and spacious. Housekeeping did a great job! We loved the area on the beach that the hotel has! Like many others have said itâs better than most of the other resort set ups. Very comfortable beach loungers. Having the Beach service is nice- the pizza is yummy and prices compatible to where we live. Fantastic location- 2 minute drive into town or you can walk/take the bikes for free. They let you sign our beach towels if you wish to explore other beaches on the island which is great.
Here is where improvements can be made: We found the majority of staff to be not friendly or hospitable. I had emailed and contacted the resort on ALL avenues before our arrival- email, messaging through website, social media and received 0 response! I have NEVER experienced this. As a Travel Advisor this is a little alarming. There is no toll free #. Itâs mostly teenagers running the front desk and other parts of the resort who obviously are not trained in the hospitality industry. I couldnât tell you who the manager was. It was also our anniversary which was inputted on the reservation and it wasnât recognized at all-not a big deal but again never have experienced this type of hospitality. It seems the resort partners with influencers to receive good reviews and marketing and those people seem to get treated better. The furniture and shades in the rooms are all IKEA and probably wonât last long. Itâs fine for now but everythingâs slowly starting to show some wear. The curtain rods were not put up correctly so we had to stand on a chair in order to open and close them, otherwise if you pulled it too hard it was going to come down. Our room had blackout curtains on the patio sliding doors but there was another large window with light filtering shades. Iâm not sure who wants any type of light coming into their room while sleeping or wanting to be woken up at the crack of dawn. I did know this ahead of time and brought an eye mask but this shouldnât be necessary. -As others have stated there is a club thatâs across the way that plays loud club music until 2 am. We brought our portable sound machine and slept with the AC on highest and could still hear a faint thumping until the club closed. Itâs far worse on the weekends. Itâs hard to call the resort an âOasisâ when there is the loud club music playing until the early AM. I know itâs out of the resortâs control but itâs something to be aware of as Iâm sure some rooms are worse than others depending on the location. The resort only provides 2 water bottles upon check in for your whole stay. Water is expensive on the island so be prepared. Iâve never stayed at a resort that doesnât replenish the water daily. My advice is to bring insulated tumblers and then buy gallons of water from the grocery store to fill them. Please donât allow personal speakers near the pool or on the beach. The resortâs name is âOasisâ- which means people are expecting relaxing and calm. If you have people playing their loud music by the pool/beach it really can be annoying. Overall thoughts: We thought the Oasis was great for what we were looking for. The rooms were modern and clean- and the location was central to everything. The beach area was fantastic. I would recommend it if youâre looking for an affordable accommodation, if you donât mind being right on the beach and if the above flaws...
Read moreWe stayed 7 nights at The Oasis at Grace Bay this past December 2017 it was the best hotel experience we ever had on any vacation. The staff is beyond exceptionnel, they are there to make sure you will have the best vacation possible, and they will answer any questions you may have and they give great advice and recommendations. Many thanks to the whole staff escpecially to Nev and Beverly.
This 9 unit hotel and Loft resort is a true paradise, it's peaceful for couples yet accommodating for families, it's a short 4 min walk to the beach, or you may use Golf carts. It was actually closer to the beach then the mega resort we stayed at last year in Punta Cana.
We stayed in a ground level suite which was great for our family with our two young children. Each unit is spacious and has a full kitchen with all required utensils, including salt, pepper, detergent for dishwasher and clothes washer, hand and body soap, shampoo and conditioner, and usb ports for charging devices. We had breakfast and lunch at our suite and supper out which maximized our beach time.
Our unit had 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms each with a shower and huge spacious closets. There was free ultra fast wifi, unlimited worldwide long distance calling, and an iPad to use, which was great to view local restaurant menus as it was preloaded with the "ISLEHELP" app which has daily updated menus of all restaurants, you can also download this app on your phone. There was a living area with a sofa and satellite TV, the central air conditioner worked perfectly. There is also an outdoor patio table with four chairs on your own balcony overlooking the pool area. Pool area has lounge chairs and towels with a central gazebo and bed, and a hammock to hang in, great to read. Theres an outdoor BBQ, with sitting area with outdoor sink and ice.. There's an outdoor shower which is great when returning from the beach. The resort has 24 hour security, and parking. We rented a car from Avis at the airport and it's really the best way to get around if your ok with driving on the left, area around hotel is very safe. The water at resort is safe to drink. Housekeeping did a fantastic job, bed sheets were changed daily, and unit was immaculate every day. There are free bikes to use which are great to explore the island. There is a safe in the room as well
At the beach umbrellas, lounge chairs, towels, cold water, floating mats are in abundance. There is a member of the hotel staff who is at the beach all day attending to any needs you may have. Beach area is located next to Royal west indies resort, and was very quiet during our stay. Make sure to say hi to John from New York who is a regular visitor on Grace bay Beach, and has a sign up "Homeless By Choice". The water and beach sand is just spectacular the best I have ever seen. Don't forget your snorkelling equipment.
The resort is perfectly situated as there are numerous restaurants in walking distance as well as a Casino next door. There is Graceway Gourmet supermarket very close by, however keep in mind prices are double or more as what they normally are back home. We attended the weekly Thursday fish fry festival we had the lobster and fried snapper it was great. We also visited different beaches throughout the island as recommended by staff they were all spectacular. Or favorite restaurant was cocovan and coco bistro which was very close by.
Do not hesitate to book this resort, we will be returning next year or maybe sooner:)...Don't hesitate to contact me for more...
Read moreWhat a fantastic boutique resort. My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights, and this place was actually the highlight of our trip. It's not right on the beach, but they run a golf cart shuttle basically from sunup to sundown to get you to the beach (it's about a 2 minute ride). The main drag of the town is very accessible via the e-Bikes that they offer as a complementary service. So while it's not right on the beach and not right in town, both locations are very accessible.
The staff is amazing. They are extremely helpful, attentive and nice. It really seems like everyone here enjoys their job, and it shows. They have an outpost on the beach once the golf cart drops you off, where they set you up with towels and chairs. Everyone involved with the beach (shuttle, the guys who hand out towels, etc.) made the experience even more enjoyable. You can even order food on the beach, which the staff will bring right to you. By the way, the restaurant on site, Trattoria, is fantastic. While everything in Grace Bay is ridiculously overpriced, Trattoria has fair prices and actually some of the best food that I had on the island. Turks and Caicos isn't necessarily known for its food, but Trattoria really gets the job done with a number of great menu options for all three meals. They also have a bar in case you're looking for a drink and don't feel like going into town. Overall, they serve high quality food and drink that's prepared with the utmost care.
Finally, the resort itself is beautiful. It's located behind the Grace Bay Club on a low-traffic side street, and while this place isn't huge, it's gorgeous. It's located under a canopy of palm trees and features two smaller pools. It really feels like you're secluded from the outside world, but in the best possible way. The resort isn't bustling, which is actually kind of sad, but for someone who doesn't like raucous crowds, this worked out perfectly for me. One complaint is the noise from the bar that's located about 50 yards behind the resort, some trashy bar/club called Aziza. Most of the nights we were there, this dump played extremely loud music well into the night. I was in room 407 and it didn't keep my wife and I from sleeping (we use white noise and earplugs), but I can see how some of the areas towards the back of the resort could have issues. The staff ensure that they are actually working with the TCI government to fix this. If you're worried about it, call ahead before you get there and see if they can set you up with a quiet room away from the club noise. Roomwise, we had a smaller room, but it had a nice, comfortable bed, a nice little terrace which was ever so pleasant to spend a few minutes on after waking up, and a fridge and microwave. Overall, it was pretty quiet, and the A/C kept it nice and cool when we needed it.
All in all, we had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Oasis. I actually enjoyed the resort itself more than the beach or the town. Hats off to the staff for making this a great experience. Not sure if we'll come back to TCI any time soon, but if we do, Oasis will be...
