On June 29, with my wife and four friends, I stayed at the Rius hotel in Lviv. We were supposed to spend 2 nights at the hotel. Our 3 rooms were next to each other, on the 7th floor of the hotel. On June 30 in the evening, after the dinner, we returned to the hotel. Together with my wife, we left documents, credit cards and cash in our room. It was a total of 2000 euros in cash. We met friends in their room (located in the middle) for a drink. When we returned to our room after 10 pm, it turned out that the money was stolen. Reporting this unpleasant issue at the reception of the hotel did not meet with understanding of the hotel staff. They refused to call the police, they tried to force us not to discuss things until the morning. When we discussed the situation at the reception, it turned out that the British man who occupied the room opposite us also had a large amount of cash stolen. Despite the lack of willingness to cooperate of the hotel staff, police officers appeared in the hotel that night and the next day. As a result of the investigation, they determined that an unknown man had received a universal card for all rooms from one of the hotel employees and, staying in touch with that employee, he entered next rooms on the 7th floor and stole cash. This was confirmed by video recordings from hotel cameras and in the system of electronic cards/keys. The police also have witness testimonies, from the guests whose rooms were also to be robbed but they were fortunately inside (they were sleeping). As for now, the hotel refuses to take responsibility for this situation. So far, the refused to pay compensation to robbed guests. We hope that the attitude of the hotel owners will change.
Zostawiliśmy z żoną w naszym pokoju dokumenty, karty kredytowe i gotówkę.
Read moreI stayed here a few times over the last 12 months. The rooms are spacy and nice. A few of the rooms have no cupboard, though. One has to hang the clothes on the wardrobe, which is alright, if you stay for one or two nights. If you stay longer, it can be a bit cumbersome to live out of a suitcase. Good for smokers: the rooms have sort of balconies where one can stand outside to smoke ("balcony" is a bit of an exaggeration, they are tiny and more of a stepping stone, except for some rooms with a real veranda, and these are really fantastic!).
The bathrooms are good. But the heating system of the showers is good for surprises: after a while the water jet gets weak and the water turns cold to get warm again once the system has picked up on the lack of water (I experienced that effect in all the different rooms I stayed in). It is not as bad anymore as it once was: then the water got ice cold and changed to boiling hot within a blink of an eye. So they did work on it and improved the system.
As mentioned by other commentators, the breakfast is, well, something. It is served in the Vapiano Restaurant, which is in the same building and can be entered directly from the Rius Lobby. At the reception of the restaurant one is handed a chip-card and presents this card when one orders at the kitchen counter. The cooks prepare the food and one can pick it up when it is ready. The breakfast is a bit on the Mediterranean side. Not bad but I quickly got tired of it. I guess, other people might like it.
The ladies at the hotel reception are friendly and willing to help. But one can notice that the Rius is a typical middle range business hotel with guests staying for just one or two nights. I still rate it four stars because the rooms and particular the...
Read moreThis modern hotel is well located just a few blocks from the opera and old town. It was easy to get from the airport to the hotel via the very inexpensive trolley bus.||||Modern elevators, helpful and pleasant staff, clean rooms and modern amenities made for a happy visit. Our rooms were non-smoking but I think some people cheat as I did smell cigarette smoke one morning in the hallway. My friend and I each booked a room as it is an affordable hotel. There is water and a sitting area by the elevators which made for an easy to meet area. ||||We liked just about everything about this hotel except the breakfast. There is a chain restaurant that serves as their b-fast hub. You bring down your card for each day and are limited in how much. I was perturbed that freshly squeezed OJ and hot chocolate are not part of the covered breakfast. There is a selection of several hot or cold food choices that they will make for you. No numbers are given so you have to keep going up to guess if the dish sitting there is yours or not. The food was just okay, but it just did not really appeal to us so on day 3 we just went to Lviv Croissant and did our own breakfast. ||||Shower stalls are small considering how large the bathrooms are, but overall we liked the hotel a lot and agreed we would stay...
