PROS: |- The hotel is situated very close to the town centre and shops/attractions are only a short walk away.|- The owners are nice and helpful.|- The rooms are very clean. ||CONS: |- The rooms are too small, or at least, the room me and my sister stayed in was way too small (we stayed in a twin room but the room was only just about big enough for one person. There was no room for both of our suitcases so I had to push mine next to the door).|- The bathroom was also too small for one person, let alone two (when you sat down on the toilet, your head was pretty much in the sink, and you could only just about fit in the room once you’d shut the door). |-The kettle was on the table in between the two beds, which I thought was a safety hazard if one person happens to be lying down. Again, i think this was due to lack of space but a feature I didn’t like too much, especially if you were staying in the room with a small child. |- The walls are very thin, and you can hear people opening and closing drawers, walking around, talking etc so a lie in (if you’re wanting to sleep past 8am) is very much not going to happen. |- There is a quiet time period between 10pm and 6am, but I feel like this needs to be monitored more, as it wasn’t only our room where there was noise, my dad was staying in a room just around the corridor from us and he said the room next to him had their TV on full blast for pretty much the whole evening and night. There is no bar service past 6pm and then it’s difficult to find someone. Just an example - my sister tried to go down at 10pm for some more teabags but there was no one to be found downstairs. I feel the hotel needs to be monitored, at least before midnight, so that things like noise can be avoided. They do have an emergency number (which is really good), but my dad felt like he couldn’t complain about people around him because it wasn’t an ‘emergency’, it was just annoying, which is another reason the corridor should be checked.|- The beds are satisfactory but the pillows are quite hard.|-The checkout time is 10.30am which I feel is too early. ||All in all, I don’t want to sound like I’m complaining too much because the pros are honestly really good but the cons are definitely something that needs to be worked on in my opinion, as it’s...
Read moreWe stayed here for a week in August. We had booked a superior room as knew it had a large balcony and sea view. We were not disappointed. The foyer and communal areas are bright , clean and spacious, the staff welcoming and helpful and our room renovated, comfortable and spotless. ||We had a very large flat screen TV, rcomfortable double bed and balcony furniture. The bathroom was quite small but had a good shower, plenty of hot water and huge fluffy white spotless towels. The balcony had furniture and outside lighting. There was a kettle ( that could have done to be smaller as couldn’t get it under the bathroom sink tap😂) cups and coffee, teabags etc. The only thing we would have liked extra was a table or side unit in the bedroom. ||The hotel was right on the sea front, two minutes from the pier, shops and restaurants. Some reviews had said this made it noisy but we closed the windows and never heard a thing! We did have a lovely view of Torquay from the balcony when we first arrived but that was hidden within a day by the erection of a huge circus tent which, in the end, we found entertaining watching the families queueing to go in. We still had a sea view. ||There was a front garden with picnic tables and sun-beds and we managed to park our car for free in the hotel parking area. ||We did change our own bed sheets whilst there, because of the Covid pandemic but that didn’t bother us at all. ||Mention must go to Ben on reception, who was chatty and helpful, even charging my I.pad for me when I realised I’d taken the wrong charger. We had free WIFI too. ||We would highly recommend this hotel. We had a...
Read moreMe and my partner are very disappointed with our experience at this hotel, pictures online looked great and rooms looked a lot bigger to start with, however the rooms are very small aswell as the shower, everything just seemed to be botched and not finished correctly, my partner actually cut his toe on the shower tray edge, walls are dirty and stained you can clearly tell they allow dogs, dust everywhere as if it hasn’t even been cleaned wouldn’t actually surprise me if it hasn’t in a long time! The bed feels as if it’s made out of matchsticks and creeks just looking at it and we got no sleep. The shower barely works if someone else in the hotel is using it and full of rust honestly disgusting if I was the owner I’d be embarrassed to even let that out! No warning on the site that a circus would be on & music blaring till 11pm. No parking or working wifi absolutely rubbish. Window only opened a tiny bit and the other is permanently sealed so the room had 0 air flow This is what happens when you stay somewhere independent next time we will stick to premier inn what we know, that can actually clean their rooms. Staff are rude and seemed unbothered would definitely not stay again for the prices when there are 100s other hotels in the area, don’t make this mistake...
