Just had a couple of nights at the Brecks. Owners were friendly and breakfast was cooked fresh and set us up for the day. Sadly the room was a disappointment. Tea and coffee was available in the room with kettle/cups etc to make drinks. On arrival the room was freezing. The radiator was set to 5, but there was no heat coming out (radiator was full of dust/debris). Found an electric heater and plugged it into the socket to try and warm the room. Electric is on a card meter, but luckily there was 68p left on it. We returned in the early hours after a night out and found the room to be unbearingly cold (the hallways weren't much warmer). We put the heater on and left it running (the 68p didn't last long). Woke in the morning freezing cold. On investigation the doors in the room (had a twin door instead of a window) was locked shut but did not latch properly leaving about a 10mm gap for not only the cold wind to blow in but the rain as well. We managed to use the spare single bed to push the door closed which stopped the draught. The next morning we paid £5 for an electric card so we could have the heater on in our room. 2nd night was much more comfortable due to the weather improving and the fan heater and modification to the door. We did notice the radiators on a couple of times during our stay, but this wasn't long enough to maintain a comfortable temperature. The room was badly laid out. TV was 90 degrees to the bed (couldn't watch TV from the double bed). The bathroom lacked a shelf for your toiletries and a rail for the towels. There we no coat hooks for hanging coats. The sheet on the bed was clean, but had numerous holes and looked like it was end of life. There was a single metal framed bed, a double pine bed and a single wardrobe (wardrobe had seen better days). I never expect too much in Blackpool, but the basic of being warm and comfortable should be a minimum standard. And this is the first time I've had to purchase electric cards to have power in the room. Owner has added a comment since my original posting which is written like they were a guest at the hotel? Not sure if this was to mislead people reading the review or if they meant to post it as their own review to boost their rating.

Went to it as hotels booked had closed down , I would not leave my dog in it , hallways smell carpet filthy , rooms super basic and not clean no tea or coffee facility ready when checked in dirty knife and spoon , no heating in bedroom shower hairs all around and dirty marks . I decided don’t want to sleep there and left as bed had bits on it and pillows damp table dirty and light switch disgusting Absolute dump

Well on arrival Host was very friendly and welcoming however that's where the positive review ends. He said the room had be cleaned an hr prior to our arrival, so was expecting an immaculate room. The carpet on the stairs and landing have seen better days, the bedroom well considering it had been cleaned an hr before our arrival was dusty, with bits on the floor. The bedding was white and did look clean. The room was very basic and small with just a bed, no wardrobe or storage with the bathroom sink noisy when the taps were running. Dust all around the bathroom sink, Bathroom light was automatic so slightest movement kept it coming on throughout the night resulting in as very poor sleep, £60.00 for one night, i feel is very overpriced for what was provided. We havestayed in cheaper BnBs and they have been immaculate with more facilities . Overall very disappointing stay after seeing the positive reviews on here and genuinely gutted as host was...
