Brick Lane Apartment — Hotel in London

Absolutely horrible experience, Booked a family room for 3 and don't even know where to start The area is not suitable for family. It was my first time in London with my parents who were freaked out with how dodgy the area was. There was a bar near by which had junkies outside every time we walked past Absolutely unprofessional. I tried contacting the property to let them know I wouldnt be able to check in by the time given and couldnt reach them for 24 hours. I almost had to book another hotel and even when they finally do pick up they were very rude and didnt back with information required for another hour. Also when they did it was over whatsapp and the man messaging had a profile picture of him drinking with his mates (totally okay with that in general but dont expect a manager to have a profile like that). Made the mistake of paying by cash. The property managers 'friend' says that only cash payments are accepted and since i wasnt going to be in the room at his given times he asked me to leave cash in the room, something I refused to do several times but in the end gave in. Now the same amount has been taken out from my bank account and apparently there's no way of getting it back Except for the room itself the rest of the apartment was disgusting. 2 bathrooms and 2 toilets, all with mould and rust and no toiletries. Didnt seem to be cleaned the two nights I stayed there and we could clearly hear people talking in the other rooms.

Brick Line no son apartamentos como tal. El dueño del negocio tiene que tener varias habitaciones en diferentes edificios y lo alquila a turistas, porque no tiene nada que ver algunas fotos publicadas de otros usuarios con lo que nosotros hemos visto. ||El caso es que no son apartamentos, ni siquiera tiene recepción. Cuando se acerque el día de tu llegada recomiendo contactar con la persona que lo reserva para quedar en un sitio muy concreto cerca de la estación "Algate East" y te pasan a recoger. ||Nosotros quedamos con el supuesto propietario a la una hora concreta en un punto. Llegados allí no había nadie, por lo que tuvimos que llamarlo por teléfono para que vinieran a recogernos. Tras nuestra llamada, apareció un chico boliviano que decía ser amigo del dueño. Él fue el que nos acompañó al establecimiento, nos entregó las llaves y tuvimos que pagarle en efectivo el importe del alojamiento. Le pedimos un recibo o algún comprobante que acreditara el pago que estábamos realizando, pero me dijo que no llevaba nada encima, y que si lo necesitaba que contactara con su amigo y me lo mandaba por mail.||Todavía me pregunto como fuimos capaces de hacer algo así, porque perfectamente se podía haber quedado con el dinero y estafarme. Pero creo que se aprovechan de la situación en la que muchos nos encontramos cuando vamos a un país que no conocemos, cuando ya son altas horas de la noche y no sabes donde meterte. ||||UBICACIÓN||Nos hospedamos mi pareja y yo en un edificio en la calle "Leman St", cerca de la boca de metro de Algate East. La ubicación es perfecta, ya que la misma calle de la boca de metro es una calle muy transitada con varios restaurantes, un Burguer King, un KFc, establecimientos multiusos (mezcla de todoa100 y supermercado), cafeterías, ... Justo enfrente del edificio que nos tocó había un supermercado abierto desde las 7:00 hasta as 23:00. Lo mejor de este último es que tenía pan y bollería recién horneada a primera hora de la mañana y te podías averiguar un desayuno para dos por menos de 5 libras. ||Como os decía, la ubicación en general es lo mejor que tiene este alojamiento. Una de las estaciones principales de Londres, Liverpool Station, se encuentra a 10 minutos caminando. ||El puente de Londres también se encuentra cerca, a unos 15 minutos caminando. ||||HABITACIÓN ||La habitación era amplia. Tenía varias cómodas y un amplio armario (para aquellos a los que le guste deshacer la maleta cuando llegan al sitio), un espejo de cuerpo entero, una mesa con dos sillas, una cama de matrimonio y dos mesillas de noche. ||La limpieza de la habitación era aceptable, las sábanas parecían limpias y nos dieron varias toallas limpias, las cuales no te cambian, pero que si tu estancia es corta como la nuestra tampoco te hace falta. El edificio desde que entras por la puerta de la calle tiene moqueta, por lo que yo evitaría andar descalzo. ||Como dato, nos dejaron dentro de la habitación un secador pequeño. ||||BAÑO||No tiene baño. En cada planta hay un aseo (wc+lavabo) y en la planta de abajo hay un baño (wc + lavabo + bañera). Esto es lo peor que tiene. El wc en sí estaba limpio y olía bien, pero el suelo estaba muy sucio y se te quedaban los zapatos pegados. Había mucho polvo y humedad y a la bañera le caían chorreones de suciedad tanto por dentro como por fuera. Había un par de toallas para los pies, las cuales no utilicé por supuesto. ||Aconsejo si vais llevar un par de chanclas para ducharte y unas zapatillas de andar por casa de usar y tirar.||||VALORACIÓN GENERAL||Por 38€/noche no esperaba grandes lujos pero sí unas medidas higiénicas mínimas para tener un establecimiento abierto. Dudo de la legalidad de este lugar porque en ningún sitio del edificio hay una placa identificativa, no te dan ningún resguardo cuando entrar, tienes que pagarle en efectivo a una persona que no se identifica de ninguna manera, el check out es dejar la llave dentro y tirar de la puerta, ... ||||CONSEJOS||- Evita este establecimiento por muy barato que sea||- Queda con el propietario a una hora concreta y en un sitio determinado cerca de la parada Algate East. ||- No llegar más tarde de las 19:00 horas porque te cobra un suplemento. ||- Comprar un adaptador específico para Reino Unido (hasta para eso son especialitos)||- Chanclas para ducharte||- No dejar nada de valor dentro de...

In a nutshell: we should have read the reviews. We booked this place for a week while in London for our degree show, and as six poor students we obviously were attracted to this listings very cheap price and location. Upon arrival we were told via WhatsApp to go to a DIFFERENT ADDRESS and to bring the whole weeks money with us in cash, approx £600. So obviously we refused to bring the cash, but reluctantly went to the new address because it was late and we had nowhere else to stay in London. The new address wasn't even on Brick Lane and it wasn't the same as the pictures listed, but we didn't really care that much as we were out the house 8:00 to 22:00 every day. Our key snapped in the lock, it was replaced. But then it snapped in the lock again (in the exact same way) the following day, and the host refused to let us back in and so we were locked outside, a vulnerable group of girls in their pyjamas on the London streets at 3am. Excellent. No worries though, I was very easily able to pick the lock to get back in, only to discover that the lock was 'secured' to the door with duct tape, and not even with the name brand. Anyway, at that point we phoned booking.com only to learn there isn't a customer service team (just a call centre that can't do anything to resurrect the situation) and so we were left without accommodation.
