Do NOT stay here.
Absolutely the WORST check-in experience of my life, and an over-all bad experience and I'm almost 50, so I've stayed in quite a few hotels. Let me share my story: I booked this hotel six months ago via my usual booking website, which is how I always book. Our bank converted from MasterCard to Visa since the booking. I've updated payment information and have a correct mobile number as well as e-mail in my booking profile because we take quite a few weekend trips. One week before our trip to London my husband suggested we stay an additional night. I contacted Days Inn Hyde Park through the booking website, and also emailed the hotel directly. I got a quick response confirming the extra night and an updated total. We arrived a couple hours before check-in and asked if our room might be ready or should we store our luggage. The man at the desk took our surname and told us the room wasn't ready. No worries; we stored our luggage and set off for the afternoon. Later we walked back to check-in. The "gentleman" (please note the inverted commas I'm using here) at the front desk, possibly the manager, told us "There's a slight problem. Your booking has been cancelled. We ran your credit card, a MasterCard ending in _ and it was declined. We tried running it five times so we've cancelled your booking." He was VERY rude and in front of other guests as he scolded us about not having correct info. Now please remember, they were able to contact me in order to extend my booking, yet ironically, when there was an issue with payment, I heard absolutely nothing; they simply cancelled our booking. I've never felt so embarrassed as he spoke to us like we were attempting to defraud a hotelier. My husband and I both attempted to explain what had happened with our bank, but he wouldn't quit talking over us as he continually treated us like we were running a scam. We were finally put in a room with two beds, which wasn't what I had booked. I truly have never had someone in reception treat me as this man did and it was horrifying. Never when we passed reception during our two night stay were we greeted. When it was time to check-out all this "gentleman" said to us was "Room number?" He's truly a horrible man in his condescending treatment of us. We will NEVER stay here again nor suggest it. Everything about our experience was maddening. The beds were uncomfortable. There was only shower gel and hand soap as far as toiletries; no lotion, shower cap, etc., and lots of standing water in the shower. Also the basin completely filled with water as I brushed my teeth. It was a dreadfully, uncomfortable room. Do NOT stay at this hotel;...
Read moreWe recently stayed in this hotel for one night and will not be returning to a Days Inn hotel again.
We travelled as a family and picked this hotel due to its location, price and on site parking. Check in was quick and easy with friendly receptionists.
Our room was dated, which I expected due to the images on their website, which I did not mind as it was just a place to sleep for one night.
However, I did not expect such low standards in cleanliness. I'm not one to complain and as it was our children's first trip to London, we wanted to get out exploring and I knew if I made a fuss to change rooms we would have to wait a few more hours. But I feel this honest review is necessary for future potential visitors.
Our room was very small for a family of four with two double beds and a single. The bathroom was even smaller fitting only one person at a time.
The smell from the bathroom was stomach turning, to the point I would feel physically sick everytime we opened the bathroom door. We couldn't work out if it was sewerage, dirty drains or whether there was something dead rotting in the pipes. It was honestly revolting and needs to be looked at (room 306) . Again, as we were staying there for one night only, we didn't make a fuss and used public toilets as much as possible and brushed our teeth whilst sat on the beds to avoid having to open the bathroom door.
There were dirty marks on the mugs (which we did not use) The blue carpet had numerous stains and I would not allow the kids to sit on the floor and play. The walls and soft furnishings also had numerous dirty stains and our bedding had dark hairs.
The bath towels were hard, almost crunchy, and were clearly a number of years old and need replacing.
The safety lock on the door had been removed which concerned me.
Breakfast was OK, toast, jams, four different cereals to choose from, nutella, croissants and that's it. No milk alternatives like soya, oat or lactose free. It was served in the basement with no natural light and it was a very warm room.
We have stayed in a number of hotels in London as a couple previously, both luxury and value and never experienced a hotel with such poor cleanliness. This was our first trip as a family and we will not be staying here again. I would advise spending a little bit extra and...
Read moreThe best thing about the Days Inn near Paddington is its location. It’s incredibly convenient if you’re travelling to or from the airport—I was coming in from Gatwick, and my Uber had no trouble finding it. That said, the entrance can be a little tricky to spot; some of the doors had boxes around them, which made it confusing at first. (For future reference, it’s the first door on the left-hand side.)
Check-in was straightforward enough, but navigating to the room was a little odd. From the lifts, you have to go up one level and then down a staircase—or just take the stairs directly. The stairs themselves are quite narrow, which isn’t ideal if you’ve got a suitcase. Along the way, I noticed random supplies lying around (a vacuum on one landing, bags piled up on another), which made the place feel a little less put-together.
The room itself was exactly what you’d expect for the price: simple, clean, and comfortable. The bathroom was a good size and easy to use, especially the shower. There aren’t any amenities (no extras like a gym, restaurant, or even much floor space), but for a one-night stay that wasn’t a big issue. In fact, the room was so compact that it was hard to open a suitcase on the floor—but luckily mine had two double beds, so I used one for luggage storage.
Overall, the Days Inn is not fancy, but it does what it needs to: clean, quiet, comfortable, and very accessible. If you’re looking for luxury, this isn’t it. But if you want a budget-friendly stopover in a great location after the airport, it’s a solid choice that delivers exactly what...
