This Ask Italian was top notch

Having been to an Ask Italian and not getting the service we expected, my wife complained and we were offered a complementary main meal and a drink at any branch.

We opted for the Ask Italian in Spring Street, off Sussex Gardens in Lancaster Gate. There we were met by Fuad, who gave us a choice of tables and reassured us that no money would exchange hands.

Wow! This Ask Italian was a breath of fresh air. And when we settled down we were provided with a non-alcoholic version of a Limoncello. Salute per Tutti!

We opted for Calzone pizzas. Both of them were wrapped but Fuad gave us the option of having it unwrapped, which we took.

The tasty Calzone Carne Piccante contained pepperoni, ham, beef and red wine ragu, fresh chillies, mushrooms, tomato sauce, and mozzarella.

It had a nice crispy base with a hint of char from the oven with fresh toppings which were washed down with a non-alcoholic Peroni.

My wife went for a Calzone Mushroom and Truffle with Chicken. The flavours really shone through giving it a wonderful taste.

The main meal was plenty but there was enough room to share one dessert, and it had to be a White Chocolate Pistachio Tart. It was so delicious that it was heartbreaking to share.

If you are into Mocktails, try the cherry one. It has such a strong taste that it feels like it’s alcoholic. A mint tea with leaves was equally refreshing.

The food, the ambience and the staff, Fuad and Besem, were super friendly and professional in their approach.

Although our first experience in another branch of Ask Italian had not been good, these guys were able to restore the reputation of the brand a hundred times over.

If you are contemplating on going to Ask Italian, go to this one and you won’t be disappointed. It’s big but also cosy, just off the main Bayswater Road, so feels exclusive.

Everything about this branch is top notch, including the clean toilets. I will definitely be coming back. It’s five star service from...

Wonderful Food and Outstanding Hospitality at Ask Italian – Paddington

My recent visit to Ask Italian in Paddington on 18th September 2025 was an absolute pleasure, thanks in large part to the exceptional service provided by the fantastic management team, Klaudia and Victoria and the wonderful chefs. Their professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail truly elevated the entire experience.

Right from the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted with sincere hospitality and made to feel instantly welcome. Klaudia ensured that everything — from our seating to our service — ran smoothly and with genuine care. They were attentive throughout, checking in thoughtfully without ever being intrusive, and their recommendations were spot-on.

The food was another highlight — every course was a celebration of fresh ingredients and rich Italian flavours. The starters were vibrant and full of character, the pasta was cooked to perfection, and the desserts were an indulgent finale. The presentation was elegant without being pretentious, and the atmosphere in the restaurant felt both relaxed and sophisticated.

What truly made the evening special was the sense of being looked after by people who genuinely care about their guests. Klaudia lead by example, creating a positive energy that clearly extends to the rest of the team.

If you are in the Paddington area and looking for great Italian food paired with exceptional service, I highly recommend a visit to Ask Italian. Klaudia and Victoria will make sure your experience unforgettable. Thank you all for another...

I have been in the area living for 23 years and used to find Ask a great place to chill and eat great food with friends. Twice in the last week I have been and found the food tasteless and cheap. On the 1st occasion I had the mushrooms which I used the knife fork and serviette. I then had pulled pork pasta that was hyped up as the people's favourite but instead the pasta was dry and bland and the pulled pork watery and tasteless. The waiter took my starter away yet didn't seem to think I warranted new utensils and a serviette so I ended up taking the empty tables utensils instead. Surely any GOOD waiter would have acknowledged this from the start. The olives were cheap and out of a jar which weren't even de-pipped and not at all nice covered in brine. On the 2nd occasion tonight I had linguine with seafood. Again tasteless and very uneventful to the point I couldn't insult my pallet and didn't bother after 3 mouthfuls. The waiter was lovely, a very nice Bulgarian man. This place has gone down and needs to go back to basics and train its staff on proper waitering. ( Waiter tonight excluded ). As for the so-called chefs , well you could train monkeys to do better. Over priced over rated and an inflated opinion of itself regards the outdated boring tasteless food. The 5 stars I gave for service tonight are for the lovely...

Service was friendly, drinks were good. But thats where it ends. Upon double checking the check when i get home i see that we payed an extra 6.65 as 'optional' tip?? I did NOT know that this was being charged nor was it deserved. Pasta was cold and dry, clearly had been waiting for over 15 mins under a hot lamp, waiting for my pizza to be ready. not to mention the size was definately on the small size for 'an italian restaurant' The rectangular plastic plates for the pizza are quite worn and distastefull. I dont want to add another bunch of microplastics to my food when cutting up my food. The tiramisou had too much coco powder. Almose like eating a bag of saw dust. To top it all off the acoustics are quite terrible. As soon as it gets busy its hard to understand eachother. Pro: price seemed ok if the food was actually warm considering its in expensive london And i do like the fact that you get an actual pizza cutter My suggestions: Get some room deviders fix that time management Replace those plates for actual sustainable plates If it were a mcdonalds i wouldnt be complaining but this just doesnt fit in my head especially the tip. 88 freaking euros gets us some sublime food in europe. Quite dissapointing for our UK trip!

We had just arrived in London from a 6:40a flight down from Inverness. My wife and I were tired. The girls were hungry and cranky. A couple right turns from the hotel at Paddington Station and Googling stuff led us to ASK Italian, and it was JUST what we needed for lunch. A whiff of basil and a friendly hostess greeted us. I later learned it's a chain but who cares. The food was excellent, our kids ate a good meal. The wine was delicious. After doing the £ to $ conversion in my head it was even a great value compared to what we're used to in the States at comparable quality. The atmosphere was light and sunny. And, get this: our hostess (regretfully I don't recall her name) brought over a little plate of carrot sticks, bread sticks and marinara sauce for our 5 and 7 yo daughters as soon as we sat down with a cheerful, "Here you are, my lovelies!" That was a women skilled in her craft -- she helped us (and everyone in the restaurant) avert a hunger-fueled meltdown. Bravo. We went back for dinner🤗
