London Pub MapLondon Pub Map
🚇 Paddington 🍺 £5.40 Becks An Aviation Themed Pub. The Sussex Arms is situated in the backstreets of Paddington, set amongst the numerous hotels located in the area. The nearest Tube is Paddington, it’s a three minute stroll to get here. This pub was built in 1852 as the Sussex Hotel. The pub is owned and run by Stylotel which is located across the road on Sussex Gardens. This is a very unique pub, in that it is aviation themed. The main bar area is square-shaped with a small secluded room called The Business Lounge located at the rear. The walls are bare brick with large TVs to the left and right with one above the bar. Also around the walls are different parts of aircraft including an Airbus A320 fuselage and wing edge. The centre piece of this pub are the original @british_airways Concorde seats complete with Airbus A320 exit doors table. The lighting does make the bar area feel a bit clubby but this pub is full of quirky features. The beer selection was all keg and included some beers from Chicago based brewers @gooseisland . I decided on a pint of Becks, you don’t see it too often on tap these days. My pint was excellent, price point was great considering the area. There is no food menu available. I visited on a Friday afternoon for an afterwork pint. The atmosphere was relaxed with a couple of solo drinkers and a group of chaps from the USA. The service here was top drawer, the member of staff on duty was welcoming, friendly and was great to have a chat with. Visiting The Sussex Arms wasn’t your usual pub experience. The airplane parts and the mood lighting felt like I was in a club/bar on holiday. The beer choice was decent enough and the price point was great considering the tourists that visit the area. This pub is not one for the traditionalist but I would definitely recommend a visit for trying a different pub experience. ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 16.02.24

A very good pub. An excellent atmosphere with well priced drinks, for London anyway! But what really makes this a standout place is the staff. My wife and I popped in for a cooling libation before going to see the Great Neil Young and the Appaling Bob Dylan at Hyde Park. The barmaid so impressed me with her work rate and memory of what my order had been I had to ask her name for this review. Thank you Pavlina for your efficient service. To top this off my wife who uses a stick due to mobility problems, bad knees, needed the ladies restroom. As she approached the stairs another member of staff saw her and took her down on the lift, waited for her and brought her back up. This turned out to be the manager Maxine. I was so impre5i can't put it into words and boy that pub was busy. In case your wondering, it was our first ever visit, we had never met or spoken to these ladies before and I doubt that we will again. It was great to come into contact with such nice people. Thank you.

This is a nice modern looking pub with an aviation theme. It is reasonably priced for the area, I ordered a pint of Becks at £5.40. They had a reasonable whisky selection of around 15 types but I did not see any cask pumps although London Pride was featured on the menu. They have a small exterior seating area. The walls are bare brick whilst the ceiling is studded wood, giving it a nice effect. There are various aviation knickknacks dottted around, including original Concorde seats. The service was good. Of special interest to the less mobile is that in addition to the stairs there is a lift to the basement toilets. The large windows give it a bright feel. I like this pub, my original impression was ok, but the more I looked around the more I came to appreciate the effort that has gone into making this pub rather different to others nearby.

Nice pub, good atmosphere BUT completely ruined by extremely rude supervisor / manager on shift for 2019 Champions League final - a quite old woman with long white hair and a face like a smacked arse.

This miserable witch was walking around being bossy and snapping for no reason at customers trying to watch the game, even shouting at Spurs fans who were singing during the game (nothing rude / that would cause trouble with the Liverpool fans - just normal Spurs songs) - threatened to call the police if they carried on singing! Snapped at me for no reason and said, "I'm a Liverpool fan - we're all Liverpool in here love". So in Central London, we are not welcome into a pub to support a London team? Imagine roles were reversed in Liverpool! Would never happen (and rightly so).

Seemed happy enough to take our money mind.

Truly awful.

Shame, as the other barmaids on shift seemed...
