Avoid avoid avoid! I have stayed at this hotel 32+ years. Obviously, Covid-19 changed everything. I stayed at the hotel 12 nights in January 2024. It is possible the hotel has new ownership. Regardless: the majority of the hotel now houses "Migrants". There are tables set up in the Reception Area: one has security personnel stationed for most of the day/early evening. There are folding tables that have personnel to assist the migrants. Large black plastic garbage bags are placed in the reception area, which contain, probably laundry for the migrants. One evening, returning approximately 11:00 p.m., I approached the front door and 2-3 "migrants" (not my term, the word used by hotel staff) were congregating adjacent to the front door. One male was spitting on the front door mat. This was disrespectful and an unsafe condition for me as I had to pass by to get into the hotel. On Saturday, 14 January 2024, a young male was the front desk/reception attendant. When I walked in late evening (again: approximately 11:00 p.m.); there were (2) keys displayed on the front counter. One was my key. The attendant stated he was "at the desk" and only 2 guests were not in the hotel. I told him I felt this was unsafe (for me and my possessions). He tried to assure me that he was always at the desk (what about a restroom break?). I had to wait until Monday, 15 January 2024 to speak to the "Manager" Kasia (Kasha). She listened to the 2 issues I spoke of. It did not seem like she cared that I had stayed at this hotel for over 30 years. She simply took the balance of my payment due (I believe 300 or 400 pounds which I paid in cash). She offered no discount or make good. She did state that she had offered me an apartment suite on the 1st floor instead of room 503. However: a ground floor "suite" with migrants loitering directly outside: would not have been safe. Additionally the suite she offered had a sleeping loft and a staircase. I felt this would not have been safe for me as I have mobility issues and I did not want to take a chance falling. This was my choice. The Westpoint Hotel (and Aspen Suites) is trying to position the apartment suites as available to paying guests. There is a small brass plaque affixed to the parking gate stating "Aspen Suites". Avoid this hotel. At all costs. It saddens me but there are other...
Read moreTo start off with when I arrived at the hotel in one corner of the car park. I noticed Old beds, bits of wardrobe glass windows. It just didn’t look very nice glass bottles on the floor smashed then we entered reception to where we was greeted by a very friendly man on reception also in reception was a big table with about 10 young adults all on laptops there was also two security men sat at the side of the door. I think the hotel was quite full on one side was the apartment where we stayed where you had to have a separate key to get in that side of the hotel as well as a key for your door on the other side of the hotel I think maybe people who needed temporary housing there was a lot of children playing football in the car park. I noticed the ball bouncing off some of the cars. I’m just glad I’ve parked my car elsewhere for the room, it was clean when we got in there all the windows were open and it was freezing so we shut them straight away. The radiators worked sometimes then didn’t and at night because the windows were that old and didn’t seal properly you could hear all the traffic all night long which kept my daughter awake all night more or less would definitely not stay there again, knowing...
