I’m not usually one to write reviews but I thought I would do so to help shed some light on the experience. This salon is a simple walk-in and walk out service. Fine with this, I don’t need someone taking my coat, giving me drinks or head massages. Expect to wait a while, depending when you arrive. I waited over an hour last time (I wasn’t told about it, then again I didn’t ask, so fair enough). Previously I booked online via a third party site and was able to get my cut within 15 minutes. FYI, they don’t take bookings directly.
The experience you get very much depends on your stylist. The one I had a few weeks back was (I’m sorry to say) awful and unfortunately is the reason for this review. I won’t mention any names because it’s not nice to name and shame in public. But here are the reasons:
He/She was rushing and genuinely wasn’t bothered about the look of the hair. They snipped away and only dried the hair ever so slightly. They stopped and was ready to push me along, so I said – “I’m sorry but my hair is very wet”. The response… “It’s a rough dry” (with a bit of attitude). I’m not the rudest person but come on, you don’t need to say it like that. I had sat for an hour waiting for a hair cut and the least I deserve is hair that is not completely cold. So you could tell the stylist was not happy at all and grumpily carried on drying my hair a bit long.
Secondly, the cut they gave was genuinely bad. My hair is thick and to have a blunt cut on the ends was a bad move on their part. Even though they didn’t blow dry my hair properly you could tell it was just not suitable at all. I mentioned it to them and again, I had a response with an attitude… “you said you didn’t want layers”. Incorrect. I said “I don’t want very short layers”. Hairdressers usually have common sense. This one didn’t. They continued and tried to ‘unblunt’ the ends, and to be honest I should have just stopped them because it really didn’t make it look any better. The ends of my hair resembled zigzags… literally.
I reiterate, this stylist was only rushing and genuinely didn’t care. Didn’t make any conversation and didn’t want my hair to look nice. I’m not one to usually talk whilst getting my hair cut, so I wasn’t so bothered, but the stylist was only keen on getting me out of that door.
I’m not faulting the salon completely, probably some of the people here need some further training on their skills and customer service. The first stylist I had was amazing – they blow dried my hair to 80% dry and bothered to use a round brush so I could see the cut nicely. They were friendly and made recommendations, and of course, made sure I was happy. And that was why I came back and referred others here. This time, I waited 1 hour plus… and got a 20 minute rushed cut that was pretty bad (I'm usually easy to please). And yes I counted.
So as you can see, visiting this salon can be a bit of hit and miss. If you know who’s good and who’s not, stick to the same stylist and don’t make the same mistake as me. For this cut I had recently, I gave the hairdresser the benefit of the doubt. I went home, re-blow dried my hair and used straightening irons… still pretty bad. Today I decided to go to Rush to get my hair corrected for just £5 more. The lady said my hair had been cut unevenly at the back (surprise surprise). I’m so glad they sorted it out because it looks SO much better already. Altogether I actually spent £45 on the right haircut, instead of £20, thanks to this place. All I can say is you get what...
Read moreReview edited again to show three photos - one with the nice V shape I had before, one with the exact photo I showed the stylist of a V shaped undercut with v fade lines, and then the photograph of what the salon actually did to my hair. There was no 'miscommunication' - simply someone who could not complete what I asked for, and cut off 1/3 of my hair.
Update: The salon got in touch to ask me to take this review down, offering me a refund and a free haircut to try to put things right. Despite giving them every detail they could need to process a refund they said they couldn’t find my transaction, then stopped responding to my messages. I then got multiple phone calls despite clearly saying I could not take their calls. The last thing my hair needs is any more cutting after what they’ve done to it. I’ve disputed the transaction with my bank and that will be the end of it. When my hair eventually grows back in several months I will be going elsewhere.
I’m so disappointed with my most recent cut here. I asked for a trim and for some v lines in my undercut. The stylist smelled like smoke and clearly has absolutely no idea what he is doing. He had cut my hair a couple of months back but it was a really straightforward 1 inch trim. I found some hairs out of place (too long) that time but not a big deal to fix myself at home. This most recent cut was a disaster. He didn’t lift up any layers of my hair to cut evenly, he just roughly went at it with scissors. He didn’t check my parting, and at the end of the cut it was visibly an inch longer on one side. I asked him to fix it and he then started to use a buzzer with a comb to try to fix it… it was bizarre. As for the undercut, I couldn’t see it properly in the salon, but when I got home I could examine it properly. He has destroyed the v shape I had, made two weird lines that look like they were done by accident, and the top of it is now totally uneven. I am so upset and disappointed, it’s going to take ages for it...
Read moreI had a very different experience from other comments. I got my balayage done recently and there are a few things that could have been done better and is a must have- I was before time for my appointment however was made to wait more than 30 minutes, which was fine since I expected a better service as a favour. I asked for a color and stylist(Fairy herself) agreed that I will get that color however it was total disappointment since the color was not even close As a stylist, you should respect other persons choice and let it be. If it doesn’t look good, customer is ready to take their chances. If you are doing some other color, JUST BECAUSE YOU THINK, AND IT CANT BE YOUR WORK! should be discussed well in advance You should be gentle with backcombed hairs, it’s a basic one expect with their hairs. Rather than asking customer to be brave and let you scratch their all hairs out of their head. One come to salon for relaxing not to get tortured. Color is every sense means that you will cover the greys. It is non negotiable! In every color theory, one can’t leave the front uncoloured. Literally it feels like a total waste of my time and money seeing there is literally nothing in the front of my hairs. One you say you do olaplex treatment, live by it please. 🙏🏻 No Olalpex shampoo/or any product is of pink color and filled in such large cheap containers. Highly disappointed with the haircut. This was the least I was expecting that can’t go wrong but the hairdresser didn’t even spent 5 minutes on cut. I was asking for layers and I was just totally ignored.
Honestly, I had no words to say since the whole staff started telling me that I look good and I was like Well, I just wanna leave now since this isn’t getting any better and I am courteous enough to not spoil anyone’s day.
I wish all the best and hope people get...
