We were exploring Ashland by foot the day after a play at the Shakespeare Festival and I’m always intrigued by surviving record stores so I stopped into the Music Coop. As I perused the racks, I realized that I had stumbled into a gem. The stock was expertly- curated and I found so many items ( vinyl and CD) that I had been ( or hadn’t realized I was) looking for. When I asked the owner John a question, it opened a fascinating dialogue about music and artists we both treasure. What a great guy and expert! I found it hard to walk away and catch up with my wife shopping nearby. If you visit Ashland Oregon, you owe it to yourself to visit Music Coop. It may be the best record store I’ve ever been to ( and I check out one in every town). Thanks John for an enlightening visit and I’m enjoying the funky Johnny Otis disc you...
Read moreI really like the store. It was like a walk through the past. It reminded me of licorice pizza in California back in the day when music was good and it was in vinyl. When the music was good and not everyone with a computer...

I want to support small business and mom and pop stores, it's the best way to rebuild our economy. Although I can't do it at the expense my financial means. In the wage disparity environment we currently find ourselves living in, how can I as a consumer justify a large price difference? This business strategy encourages me to take my purchasing dollars to non-local non-small business. This is how small business dies. With a refusal to accept the fact that, one can sell a single cd at a $10 profit or 15 cds at a $1 profit each. Why even enter this store when I know I can get a better price or the same price at a bigger more popular brick and mortar store with a...
