A Layover in Style: My Stay at Renaissance Concourse Atlanta Airport Hotel During a recent transit through Atlanta, I had the opportunity to stay at the Renaissance Concourse Atlanta Airport Hotel for one night. What started as a simple overnight stopover turned into a memorable experience, thanks to the hotel’s comfort, design, and aviation-themed ambiance. Seamless Arrival and a Warm Welcome Check-in was refreshingly smooth. The front desk staff were both friendly and welcoming, setting the tone for a pleasant stay. As a Marriott Bonvoy Gold member, I was delighted to receive a complimentary upgrade from a standard 2-Queen Guest Room to a 2-Queen Runway View Guest Room on the 9th floor—a perfect match for an aviation enthusiast like me.
Timeless Elegance and Spacious Comfort Built in 1984, the Renaissance Concourse has retained a sense of grandeur and opulence. Its interiors boast a classy, upscale vibe that blends retro charm with modern comfort. My room was well-appointed, spacious, and equipped with all the amenities you'd expect from the Renaissance brand. The bathroom was equally impressive—well-lit, clean, and stocked with high-quality linen that sets Renaissance apart in its category.
A Plane Spotter’s Paradise The true highlight of the stay was the private balcony overlooking Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport—the world’s busiest airport and Delta Air Lines’ primary hub. From my vantage point, I had a sweeping view of the Domestic Terminal Concourses (T and A to E), the International Terminal (Concourse F), and both northern runways (08R/26L and 08L/26R). This setup was a dream come true for plane spotters, photographers, and aviation geeks. Watching aircraft take off and land in such close proximity made for incredible videography and photo opportunities.
Comfort vs. Noise: What You Should Know While the view is unbeatable, it’s worth noting that the room is not ideal for light sleepers. The sound of jet engines is frequent from early morning until late night. Though closing the balcony door significantly reduces the noise, some may still find it disruptive. If rest is your top priority, you might consider requesting a non-runway-facing room.
Breakfast and Transportation The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle service to the domestic terminal, running every 20 minutes—very convenient for early departures or tight layovers. In the morning, Renaissance delivers more than just the standard fare. In addition to classic American breakfast staples, the hotel offers hot meal options like made-to-order eggs and waffles, which was a nice touch that added value to the stay.
Location and Nearby Attractions The location is ideal for airport access, but not for dining or exploration. There are no restaurants or fast-food joints within walking distance, so you’ll need to rely on Uber Eats or similar services for meals outside hotel dining. However, if you have time to spare, the Delta Flight Museum, just a short ride away, is an excellent spot for aviation enthusiasts.
Final Thoughts The Renaissance Concourse Atlanta Airport Hotel is not just a place to sleep during a layover—it's an experience in itself. From the aviation-themed views to the elevated hospitality, this hotel is perfect for those who appreciate unique perspectives and quality service. Just make sure to weigh the runway view vs. noise trade-off based on your priorities. For me, it was...
Read moreMy family and I checked into two rooms last night. Since then I have had a series of unpleasant experiences. My husband and I had to walk a couple of doors down to our son's room to shower because the tub would not drain and the fixture seemed like it was going to fall off the wall. We went down around 10:00am this morning and spoke with Rashad about the tub and the fixture. He indicated that someone from engineering would take care of it.
Between 12:45 and 1:00 I received a call from Donte informing me that the second room in our booking was not authorized for our full stay. So of course I went to the front desk and he quickly researched and determined that we did in fact have reservations for 2 rooms with a length of stay totaling 4 nights. I then informed him that no one from engineering had been to the room for the repairs. He made a call and someone finally arrived. I went into the bathroom after my WebEx and tried to turn the water on and the shower lever came off the wall.
I returned to the front desk and informed Rashad and Donte and was assured it would be fixed. By 6:00 pm the folks from engineering had not made the repairs, so I went back to the front desk and was told they were gone for the day and was directed to the manager on duty. I believe his name was Jonathan. After I recounted everything that happened Jonathan moved my husband and I to another room. I am glad we finally have accommodations where we can shower I am less than pleased about being two floors above the rest of my family. When I asked Jonathan for corporate information he provided a card for the Event Manager.
This is obviously an attempt to keep my account in house and by doing so the many disconnects in the processes at this hotel will never come to light nor will they be addressed. My last complaint is not being able to reach anyone at the front desk for an hour. I called to ask for washcloths because there were none in the bathroom. I started calling at 11:30 using the room phone and fin Finally, I called my husband away from his event and asked him to go to the front desk. Incidentally there were two folks there so I have no clue why they were not answering the phone. This was the main reason we did not call on the first night about the tub issue. At the end of the day staying in this hotel is expensive and the return on the investment has been disappointing. I will be posting this account on every subscription review...
Read moreOh my God, Concourse is an aviation enthusiast’s literal DREAM (ahem, me!). I recently had the pleasure of staying here and it was truly sensational. The sole reason? The captivating runway view rooms.
I stepped into my runway view room and was instantly captivated by the incredible vistas that unfolded before me. The large windows provided an unobstructed view of the bustling Atlanta airport runway, where I could watch planes take off and land with awe-inspiring precision. It was a sight that I couldn’t get enough of, despite it being a wet, dreary day in ATL.
The room itself was decorated like any other by Marriott Bonvoy (who I’m a big fan of), spacious, equipped with all the amenities one could need for a comfortable stay. The plush bedding and cozy seating area allowed me to relax and enjoy the magnificent runway views from the comfort of my room. There were four large, comfy pillows on my bed which I combined on one for the ultimate viewing seat.
Are the rooms soundproof? Not really. You will hear planes taking off and landing all night. I suggest some wax earplugs or a white noise maker.
The staff at the Renaissance Concourse motel were exceptional in ensuring that my stay was flawless. They were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. Any request or inquiry I had was met with prompt and efficient service. This is one of the main reasons why I love Marriott hotels and will always stay at one no matter where I go.
The on-site restaurant offered a diverse and delicious menu, with attentive staff delivering excellent service. The quality of the food was exceptional, and I thoroughly enjoyed indulging in their culinary offerings.
While the runway view rooms were undeniably the highlight of my stay, I would be remiss not to mention the convenience of the motel's location. Being just minutes away from the airport terminals made my travel experience incredibly convenient, without sacrificing the tranquility of the accommodations.
In conclusion, the Renaissance Concourse motel in Atlanta, GA, offers an unforgettable experience with its mesmerizing runway view rooms. The combination of luxurious accommodations, impeccable service, and the thrill of watching planes in action make it a truly exceptional choice. Whether you're an aviation enthusiast or simply seeking a unique and captivating stay, this motel is sure to leave a lasting impression. I highly recommend it and eagerly anticipate...
