when we first arrived there, the manager and the young lady checking a standard just so amazingly friendly and professional. I was absolutely pleased with how they checked us in, had small talk with us and actually just were overall just a real joy to be around. I did notice that there were a lot of children there, and come to find out there was a kids pool party going on which was fine. I mean we didn't know when we did our reservation this would happen. we were actually placed on the first floor room 118 and if we had known we could switch rums before we got unpacked we definitely would have. apparently the department of defense from another country were there, and mind you this was 8:30 9:00 at night when we checked in. they were out in the lobby drinking beer and getting hammered. around 10:30 11:00 we're trying to settle in because we were exhausted and the gentleman were out in the lobby getting hammered laughing so loud walking back and forth being just obnoxiously loud because they were right next to our room. The young lady at the front desk, we did speak with her and said that she would do what she could to tell him to be quiet, she even came to her room and apologized up and down. but they were still extremely loud. I did tell her that if they weren't quiet I at least 11:30 I would call the police because this is unacceptable. she did offer to move us to another room but we had already changed into our pajamas we had already been unpacked and we didn't think we should have to be the ones to move when they shouldn't even be drinking in the lobby and causing such a scene. around 11:00 we went outside so I can have a cigarette before I went to bed, and I came back in, I was a little disappointed when she put us out on front Street, saying very loudly with the gentleman sitting right there, "it's finally nice and quiet. I told them to be quiet so you guys wouldn't be upset." I felt really embarrassed like she was throwing us under the bus so they wouldn't treat her bad thinking that it was her asking them to be quiet. that was the only real issue I had with the staff. I finally was able to get some sleep around 12:30 1:00 because they finally settled down. when I went to lay down in the bed which by the way was extremely lopsided and the springs on the bed frame were creaking all night, there looks like a few white stains on blanket cover. and my husband found little bits and pieces of dog food all over the floor they were hair ties on the floor The room was just really filthy. The table was really sticky, the shower was a little bit dirty. but overall it didn't matter we were just exhausted. in the morning I did talk to the manager, who was so apologetic and so nice, about the gentleman's behavior. when I did tell her about the run being dirty she seemed a little bit offended because she said she was the one that person cleaned that room which I find that very hard to believe because it was filthy and there were stains on that blanket. but still she was very professional and even gave us a full refund which, I have yet to receive so that full refund is to be determined. honestly overall I don't recommend this hotel to people. but then again it might be quieter on another time. The fact though that the manager went out of her way to fully refund us like I said to be determined cuz I have not yet received the full refund, was excellent. I just really wouldn't recommend this hotel not the way the behavior of some of the guests were. but like I said that was just one night things changed from...

I wanted to share my recent experience at Fairfield Inn by Marriott in Bangor, ME. With no exaggeration, I can say with confidence that it was the worst customer service I have encountered to date. My husband and I live in Nova Scotia, Canada and decided to head to Bangor to attend our nephew’s basketball tournament. We decided to make it a family event and to book three rooms so that we could stay next to family members who we have been separated from due to the pandemic. My husband booked three rooms with the understanding that the rooms would be next to each other. This was one of our requirements, as the whole purpose of the stay was to spend time with family. This was all booked a month in advance.
Imagine our surprise when we arrived in Bangor, a seven hour drive later, to discover that they only had two rooms reserved for us. With all of our family members standing in the lobby, they told us with a straight face that there was nothing that they could do. All of the rooms in the hotel were booked. We didn’t receive a solution to the problem or even a simple apology. We were met with blank stares from the customer service representatives and quite bluntly made to feel as if it was our error. They passed the blame along to the “third party representative” who booked the rooms. Despite the fact that my husband had called the hotel directly, when they didn’t answer the call he was redirected to another booking agency. Rather than take any accountability for the screw up on their end, the customer service representatives at Fairfield Inn simply told us that we should have called them directly (which we had) and that there was nothing they could do about it.
After deliberating about what to do, some of our family members were forced to get a room at another hotel. Then the second blow came. They gave us the keys to the rooms and we realized right away that they weren’t even remotely close to each other, as we had requested. In fact, they were on completely different floors. They couldn’t even get that simple request right. Again, there was no apology or lack of compassion for another error on their end. When my husband asked if they intended to do something to compensate for the multiple, major screw ups on their end, he was told that they had no intention of doing anything. All we received was a sarcastic, unempathetic attitude.
Though we do not live in Maine, many of our family members do. They often stay at Fairfield Inn, and we booked the rooms upon their request. They were embarrassed that they made the recommendation and that we were treated so horribly. Although the hotel was full on that particular night, I’m sure there are many nights where there is availability. I can say with confidence that due to the poor customer service we received, they not only lost our future business, but also the future business of our family. It’s embarrassing that the staff at Fairfield Inn treated us so dismissively and offered no compensation for their multiple screw ups. We left feeling extremely let down; to say that it was a disappointment would be an...
Read moreOverall a pleasant stay. I would rate the room a 5 and the facilities would be 2-gym (it exists but mainly just has some free weights. If I had planned on using it while there I would have been disappointed) 4- pool (looked nice enough but was crowded so I did not venture in) entrance lobby and breakfast area 4 (in general no complaints and clean). Overall I'd rate it a 4/4.5 stay.
I was here for 2 nights on a business trip. I was a bit concerned as I was told upon check in that a youth hockey league was also staying in the hotel, however, besides hearing a bit in the hallways (within decent hours) it was nice and quiet (when I checked in I asked for a quiet room, and he did his best to not plop me in the middle of a bunch of people, which was nice). Staff were all friendly. Free parking is available and a stay comes with breakfast. The breakfast area is a little small but there is space in the entry lounge to sprawl over to and that area has a TV and fireplace. Coffee and hot water are available 24/7 in that lobby area. Breakfast changes up a bit eat day but there is always juice, fruit, cereal, yoghurt, bagels etc.
The King bed room had plenty of space, was clean and comfortable. The bed was comfortable (not too hard). Also in the room was a closet, drawers for clothes, large flat screen tv with programs on it (free HBO among them), desk with chair, sitting chair, coffee maker and fridge.
The bathroom was nice, modern, well lit, large with a long counter. The shower was clean, spacious, great pressure, with shampoo, conditioner and body wash insider. The only toiletry that it was missing was lotion. There were enough towels (of all kinds) to last me through my stay and beyond if I needed. No housekeeping came while I was there, but I also wasn't surprised (Nor did I really need it).
My only issue (which wasn't enough of an issue that I sought changing it) was that I wasn't able to adjust the thermostat for some reason. However, the room was set to 72 and as it was during freezing winter temperatures it never felt too hot.
The location was close to my meeting location and decently priced which was why I chose it. Right across the street is a gas station and the restaurant I ate all my dinners ate (Ground Round) was within walking distance if you wanted to go that route.
