We absolutely loved staying here! Everything about it was great. We would come back here in a heartbeat!
I have never stayed in a hotel nearly this nice before. It was a huge splurge for us, but we are so grateful we did it. We spent 2 nights on the top floor king suite with an INCREDIBLE view of the ocean. And 1 night on the 2nd floor with a still great room and smaller, but still great view. The added on the last night here because we couldn't bear to leave.
The King Suite: -- Room is so clean and spacious (there is so much room to move around) -- The balcony has a spectacular view. Oddly enough this was the highlight of our whole trip, just staying in this room with this view. -- My husband happened to wake up just around sunrise and we were able to sit on the balcony and enjoy that. I've never seen first light on the east coast with this much visibility, but it left us speechless and so grateful for the balcony view. -- The bed was SO comfy and had so many pillows which we loved. -- The bathroom is amazing, so much room and the shower was really wonderful.
-- I can't say enough good things about this place. There's a filtered water bottle station on the main floor which was perfect before heading out to the park each day. -- The hotel is a pretty short walk from downtown Bar Harbor. We walked to dinner a couple times and didn't have any issues.
The 2nd Floor Room -- Nearly the same as the king suite, but obviously smaller room and the view was less visible from our lower balcony. -- Bed was still super comfy and the shower was great. -- The room was still really spacious.
I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The staff was great, and the room with the view was the star of our vacation. Believe it or not, I liked sitting there and watching that view more than I...
Read moreAfter 20+ previous stays at the Bluenose, we were welcomed this visit with the opportunity to stay in the new Eden building on property that opened in May 2025. The luxurious, spacious, and well-appointed new suite rooms in the Eden offer a nautical-theme, with a fresh, new modern look. The rooms achieve the perfect blend of a quintessential Maine feel with a European flair. The suites include a fully-equipped kitchenette (with full-size refrigerator, stove, microwave, and dishwasher), plush and comfortable king-size bed, and walk-in shower. Other unexpected amenities include an innovative smart fireplace, bidet, reading lamps integrated into the bed’s headboard, and prestige toiletries. The expansive balcony offers breathtaking views of their pool, Bar Island, and downtown Bar Harbor. The Bluenose is located away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Bar Harbor, but minutes away from Acadia and countless Bar Harbor’s restaurants. The hotel staff is exceptionally warm, friendly, and most helpful in ensuring the perfect stay (kudos to Katie, Jeannine, and Fred). Many thanks to the housekeeping staff who always do an outstanding job of keeping the room immaculate and sometimes offering a surprise towel sculpture on the bed. We look forward after a day out hiking on the trails of Acadia to their Olympic size indoor and outdoor pools as well a hot tub. Bill Trowell continues to entertain evenings in the hotel’s Great Room with his mastery of piano show tunes and classic arrangements. If you have time before hitting Acadia’s trails in the morning enjoy a great breakfast with a panoramic view and outstanding service at the Looking Glass Restaurant (which is a short walk up the hill on their property). We are looking forward to our next visit to the Bluenose … our “home”...
Read moreWhile the view from a 4th floor Mizzentop room is great, for the price of the room, the condition of the facility and the amenities provided the accommodations are disappointing and overpriced. Moonrise and sunrise were great views out over the water and the islands. No valet offer or service to get to the top floor room on a single elevator or provide any assistance of any kind. Push your own cart just like any 1 star hotel. Carpets were dirty and worn throughout the public areas. Room 430 was poorly laid out. Glittery glass chandeliers don’t compensate for dirty grout in the tiled bathroom. Very noisy AC. Traffic noise quite loud from Rt 3 down the hill if one sits on the balcony. Use of space very inconvenient. Bath and toilet positioned for accessibility but total failure. Not enough horizontal work surfaces. Insufficient bath handholds. Not enough towel racks and hooks. Ice, coffee station and other amenities down the one elevator on 1st floor where less expensive rooms are located, not convenient to those who pay the high price. Wasted time avoiding the two bus tours they booked in, which, BTW took over the on site restaurant the next morning. We were told restaurant would be open for breakfast 7-10. After a hike up the hill (us seniors should have been advised about the hike) we discovered the restaurant was closed until 9AM to all but the 2 bus tour groups. No word about any of that when we checked in. At that point we decided to wait, but if we had been told we would have gone elsewhere for breakfast. Picture is of a $40 breakfast after placing the order at the bar. Server managed to knock over a tall cup of coffee delivering food to the table. Not the best way to start the day. If we manage to live long enough to come back, we’ll plan further in advance and...
