Convenient location and near a lot of restaurants and shopping. The room was recently remodeled - clean carpet, nice headboard, convenient bedside table with plug and USB. Love the walk-in shower and chair-height toilet in the bath. It is the safest, non-slip shower pan I have used for the past 2 weeks. Hot water came quickly in the shower and it had great water pressure. Nice desk space and plug/USB at desk height, but terrible lighting. The previous guest must have moved the pool light over by the desk, so that was helpful. The desk chair could not be adjusted. There is no surface for luggage. They do have a luggage rack in the closet, which works fine. However, it seems odd for a newly renovated hotel. There was no microwave and the refrigerator had no shelves. So, there was no way to store left overs or heat a meal if you wanted to work in the room. The staff were great. Ankith and Jawanda were friendly and a great help at the front desk. They made sure there was hot water and coffee downstairs, which was a treat as there were no microwaves. Heather was excellent at breakfast. She kept the breakfast area stocked and clean with a positive attitude. Breakfast was good. I liked the daily waffle flavors and the oatmeal was made perfect. I wish there were more blend-ins for the oatmeal. For instance, most of the hotels I was at prior to this stay had dried fruit, cinnamon, a few kinds of nuts, flaxseed, granola, a fruit compote. I enjoyed the pool during my stay as well. The remodel made most of the room a pleasure, but management needs to establish a better protocol for ensuring the rooms have been cleaned. Part of my bath was overlooked. The sink had not been cleaned and the counter had not been wiped well. The glass door of the shower had not been cleaned either. This is what you could see. I only hoped that the shower floor and walls had been sprayed down. Also, the A/C had trouble keeping the room cool. I do not know if it is because the wall control was gone or perhaps the filters need changed after the construction. I think they are working out some kinks from the remodel. The promise of a nice room is there, so I will revisit when I am back in the area and believe I will experience a...
Read moreThis review is based on an overnight stay at the Hampton Inn Akron Fairlawn, OH on October 2, 2022. Our room (226) appeared to be clean and well tended when we first opened the door. It was a bit chilly, so I walked around the bed to raise the temperature on the air conditioner. My right ankle hit a sharp piece of metal sticking out from the foot of the bed next to the unit and broke skin. My wife noted that there were two pieces of sharp metal sticking out from the bottom of the other Queen bed in the room (see pictures). It appeared that both beds were set up to accept king mattresses at one time. The hotel is wide open to a workers comp claim by an employee or a lawsuit by a customer should a serious injury occur.
Upon going into the bathroom to freshen up, we spotted a number of hairs in the sink and wondered if the sink had been washed after the previous customer. My wife and I could barely see what we were doing when putting on makeup and shaving as bottom one of two fluorescent bulbs on the overhead light was burnt out. Other than that, the bathroom appeared to be clean and fully stocked with towels and toiletries. I wonder if the hotel manager ever conducts spot checks on serviced rooms to see if they meet Hampton Inn standards?
The only other issue with the room was the cloth covered chair at the desk. It had multiple deep stains and is in need of replacing as it was totally worn out.
Upon checking out, my wife asked me to look at the vertical front panel of the checkout desk. It had built-up dust and dirt and didn’t look like it had been cleaned in quite a while. On a positive note, the check-in and check-out clerks were cheerful and pleasant. However, we will most likely stay at a different hotel when returning...
Read moreMe and my son arrived at the hotel around 10:30pm on check-in day. To our amazement the hotel was under renovation. As we approach the front door, a man walking past us said the lobby was blocked off and we needed to use the side door. As we approached the side door, it was propped open, since a key card is usually needed to access. We entered and walked down the hallway towards the lobby...it was a construction site. Plastic sheathing hanging every where, nobody to be found. Finally a woman came out and took us to a room where the ice machine, with a make shift office was set up (basically an open closet) and checked us in. We proceeded to our room on the 2nd floor (which was not being renovated) The TV did not work, the door fell off the cabinet when looking for the refrigerator. We did not check the heater since it was 68 degrees in the room and that was comfortable enough for us.| The hotel room was clean, the woman checking us in was polite. However, I feel that since it was under renovation and we did not have access to the features that are advertised, upon check-in they should have apologized for the renovation inconvenience and offer some sort of discount. This hotel is in a stretch of hotels on the same street. My X-Husband stayed at a hotel 4 buildings down, payed the same price and was able to our Grandchildren swimming in their in-door pool.| If you decide to stay here, call first and ask if their renovations are complete. I am sure if will be lovely when done, but for now it is a major...
