.I stayed with my children and my sister got a room across the hall. Side eyes the moment we walked in. Can you guess what color we are? Anywho I approached the front desk to let them know my key wasn’t working and before I make it there I’m asked am I in room a and b. I said I’m in room a my sister is in room b. Walt said “well we’ve been watching you and we have a no party policy”. He asked me if all the kids in the pool were there with me. Pool full of blacks and he thought we were all together. Highly offensive. Now before then I had no interaction with Walt, I checked in earlier that day and left to run errands, and I was highly offended. I told him so and also mentioned how there was a Caucasian lady with 3-4 kids in the pool area who even brought pizza in (not allowed) and they said nothing to her. He claims they were watching her too. I went to my room to change my infant daughters diaper and when I came back down my sister said “they just came in here (pool area) and said whoever is not staying here has to leave or I’d be charged and kicked out. The only person with our “group” who wasn’t staying was a friend of ours who had two kids and also her nephew with her. She immediately went upstairs to change and leave. The others other than my sister and her kids we did not know so no biggie is what I thought. As our friend is getting dressed to leave there’s a knock on my door. It’s Walt and the police. Moral of the story police were called on me my 9 8 and 1 year old and we were kicked out . Cops waited in the hall until my friend left. Then my kids and I are settling in and maybe 5 minutes later another knock. It’s the cops “bad news, your being asked to leave”. I called the front desk on the hotel room phone and asked to speak to a manager. The maintenance guy answers and says there isn’t one there. I ask for a front desk person or night attendant, I’m told he’s gone. I ask “well when will he be back?” Maintenance guy chuckled and said he didn’t know. I hung up and called on my cell and asked the same question, white person voice this time. I get a “most certainly one second please”. Maintenance guy musta caught my voice and then comes back to the phone and asks who it is lol. Since when do you guys ask who it is? They played games with me and wouldn’t allow me to speak with a manager. Walt told me when I checked out he would call the manager for me. I check out and he’s immediately like I called him and he won’t speak with you he doesn’t want to hear what you have to say. I hope that the manager wasn’t so unprofessional and rude but I’m calling corporate. Walt deserves to be fired or at least punished for his rude racist behavior...
Read moreCompliments on the cleanliness of the public areas and the suite we stayed in. Your check-in associate, Amber, was extremely friendly and professional and your hotel actually smells brand new even though she said it's actually 3 years old.
As a Platinum Premier Elite (Ambassador by end of year) and Marriott Insiders Alumni, I have seen many ups and downs in quality and staff through the years at various properties from old Courtyards in Peoria to Ritz's in Hawaii.
One of the main selling points of your particular brand in the Marriott family is the large "free" breakfast each morning. While your food spread was full and plentiful and appeared fresh... your breakfast associate (female, 55, 5'10", medium dark hair, uniform) leaves much much to be desired. She definitely would not get a Spirit to Serve nomination from me.
Your associate at breakfast Saturday morning, 9:20am or so, never smiled, never said hello to anyone, never responded to verbal cues from guests who greeted her including myself and an older gentleman, and just appeared either angry or perturbed to be working here. No 15/5 rule was ever utilized. She almost pushed guests out of the way in order to refill items. She rudely scolded and questioned some children who were trying to get some eggs.
And the coup de grace was when she walked up to the counter next to the burrito fixings, picked up a couple slices of bread and went to the dining room doorway loudly shouting "who's bread? I said who's bread? Whose children are leaving bread laying around?"
After that point, I felt uncomfortable to be in the food area, to be near her, or to even remain in the area. Guests at a hotel should NEVER be made to feel uncomfortable to be in the location that they are paying to stay at. I would hope that the manager here agrees with that statement.
We were so very hesitant to go back to breakfast the next two mornings that we wasted money and went to the Giant Eagle up the street to purchase breakfast items just in case this person was working again and/or in case she threw another public hissy fit.
I brought this to the attention of the assistant manager during our stay, and he listened but didn't seem overly concerned. We received no recompense whatsoever for having to go buy our own breakfasts when we were unable to utilize the breakfasts that were supposed to come with our reservation.
And I will refrain from mentioning the evening front desk guy who blatantly lied to us.
I wish we had gone somewhere else for our Labor Day holiday :(...

We’ve stayed at the Residence Inn Marriott Fairlawn before and have had good experiences, but this recent visit was incredibly disappointing. We were looking forward to a comfortable stay, especially as Gold status members, but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.
First off, the noise level was unbearable. Guests were loud well into the night, and the pool area was chaotic and raucous- kids jumping from chairs and the handicap pool lift- we were afraid someone would get injured and when we brought it up with the staff they didn’t seem to care. It felt impossible to relax or get a good night’s sleep. It didn’t feel like the staff did anything to manage the situation.
On top of that, our room wasn’t adequately stocked for the number of guests—we couldn’t find enough pillows or comforters, and when we asked for more, it seemed like the hotel didn’t have any available, at one point giving us a mattress protector instead of a comforter. This made it challenging to get our children settled comfortably.
One of the most frustrating moments was being locked out of our room after being assured of 3PM late check-out as part of our Gold status perks. We returned to the hotel with lunch for our children, only to find that our keys had been deactivated. It was an unnecessary and stressful ordeal that could have been avoided with better communication.
Sadly, this experience has changed how we feel about this location. We won’t be coming back, and we can’t recommend it to others based on how poorly this stay...
