I stayed here 2 years ago with a Slovak student who was visiting me and was slightly embarrassed at the accommodation. It’s an older property and the room looked as if it had not been thoroughly cleaned or updated in many years. ||||Traveling with my adult daughter and 4 more Slovak students, this was kind of a last minute trip and our options for 2 rooms in Brookings was limited. I did not realize until we arrived that this was the same inn, but the online reviews I had read prior to booking the rooms were encouraging, stating that new ownership had occurred and that improvements had been made. I can agree with others that this is certainly the case. ||||Let me emphasize again that this is an older property, but the rooms were clean and beds were much improved over 2 years ago. There was a small fridge and microwave in both rooms, but I don’t remember any other extras, such as a coffeemaker. Fortunately, there are plenty of places nearby to get a caffeine fix in the morning if one so desires. ||||I don’t think anyone visits Brookings for 5 star accommodations, but for a no frills night away to the coast or passing through to points north or south, this was a perfectly clean and reasonable place to stay. I would not hesitate to...
Read moreI had the worst experience at this motel. I am disabled, in a wheelchair. When I made the reservations I asked for a wheelchair accessible room. The person I spoke to guaranteed the room was accessible. When my husband and I arrived on Sept 31st, the room smelt like musty mold, and felt dirty. I was so crowded I had to sit on the bed. We killed several spiders, and for the money they charged you'd expect a cokkemaker or hair dryer, nope, nothing. No cable TV, no wifi, not even a clock! I mentioned various business to them and they said they heard bad things about them. My wheelchair wouldn't fit through the bathroom door, therefore I wasn't able to shower. We had booked the room for two days but checked out after the first day. We left and went down the road and found a real handicap room for $20.00 less, and it was a great room. I will NEVER stay at Pacific sunset again. Also I've told numerous people don't stay there. Our...
Read more4 stars considering the price. This review isn’t considering all the best hotels or motels, but rather the value of this one.
Some pros are that it’s easy to access and they’re very flexible. While the outside was a bit run-down (not too much) inside of the room was cozy and perfectly clean. We were a bit confused at how short the shower was as well as some random pieces of metal in the building, but determined that room must have formerly been handicap accessible. This is definitely a great, comfortable stay if you just need somewhere nice to sleep while you spend the day exploring the town.
Some cons: I was disappointed at the lack of a coffee pot. The bed was also incredibly creaky, and the walls are very thin. Normally I wouldn’t mind but there were a lot of children and babies staying in the motel, so it was easy to hear them at night. Even considering this all, I’d...
