Place was pretty much as described. The room was clean, but very dated. While other reviews mentioned a "recent renovation"...this should not be confused with a remodel. The place was recently painted, and some of the carpeting in the rooms replaced (but not our room), and newer mattresses and sheets. Pillow styles were mixed - some were solid and flattish while others were really fluffy - we liked this. What was NOT GOOD was the front desk service. The room, #105, had a small shower (no bathtub in this Family Suite) and the water pressure was okay, not great, but the hot/cold was reversed (surprise!). When I first entered the office to check-in I was greeted but not very nicely, and the person acted very unprofessionally. She knew how she was acting because near the end of the transaction (that didn't go correctly because she failed to listen to me, the customer) she proffered "It's been a hectic day" but no apologies. We had some questions about their offerings and procedures but the office was empty that evening, the next day, and the very next day. There was a pre-fashioned box on the counter with a slit and custom-engraved signed that read something like "EZ checkout. Put room keys in box." So, the service element of this hotel sucked in our humble opinion. This was a mid-range pricing for the coastal area - so this will NOT be our first choice nor a "go to" place for us. We would stay here if it was one of the last choices...
Read moreI am still in the hotel room! Nice, easy to find, very quiet with good parking and prices. The beds are comfortable but in this room's case are also rather high and I am only 5' so I can get up by hugging the mattress (or my Husband) but I definitely don't want to fall off! If you have children or are short, you may want to consider this on check in or reservation. (Most people who may be under 5' 7" should ask, on the other hand no one will be jumping on this one either). The bathroom is opposite the room door and last night when we checked in it was cold but I put the heat up late in the afternoon and it started heating from the room door back to the bathroom. It is just the end of April and it is on the Oregon coast... The ground floor rooms have a step up from the parking area and another step up to the room. Nice size mini fridge along with microwave, coffee maker and luggage space. Nice table for eating or whatever with 2 good chairs and a basic table with another one. No real views but access and parking are good. No elevator but only one floor of stairs. It's a perfect place for a stop on your way heading either North or South with out street noise and in Brookings Oregon (we stayed here to figure out a place to rent for the summer). Nothing fancy but...
Read moreMy rating is based on three factors: curb appeal, service and price vs. comfort.
Westward Inn is centrally located within Brookings, OR just off Us highway 101. The exterior is reminiscent of an old Motel 6 and doesn't immediately stand out against the competition. Although the exterior seemed dated, I was not immediately turned off by it and actually pulled in and parked while I looked the Inn up on my phone's listing. The clerk in the office was friendly and informative. I asked about local attractions and a place to eat and was pointed in the right direction! I was even thanked as I left the building with my room key in hand. The booking price landed under the $100 mark and offered a few internal amenities but no external ones such as pool or spa. The room I booked had television, a/c, fridge, microwave, and coffee. The room was also stocked well with towels and toiletries. The beds we're crisply made and the linens and pillows are actually comparable to the well known and established hot chains. My only quarm with my experience was a slight musky smell to the room and loud water pipes that I could hear through the walls. Overall the experience was enjoyable. I felt my price paid was equal to the quality and...
