I am not someone who reviews a business negatively ever as I understand how difficult it is to succeed and I will always support local business especially in small communities like Brookings. However I felt compelled to do so after my visit today. Firstly, I am a responsible dog owner who would never take my dog anywhere that she was not allowed or anywhere she would not be welcome. After my husband checked she was welcome and went over the rules with the gentleman at the bar we took her in and sat on the patio. My husband had ordered a beer and I sat looking at the menu when the gentleman came out and abruptly asked me 'is that the dogs water' pointing to the water bottle I had, having filled my dogs collapsible bowl under the table, where she was lying quietly. It was indeed her water, and the accusing tone with no prior greeting to me was extremely embarrassing and unwelcoming. He then explained that under oregon law I couldn't have that container in a bar. (I have done this at every other brewery/restaurant we have taken her to so I never realised this was the case until now, being a hot day I automaticallly take her water everywhere with me). I 100% appreciate why this would be the rule and do not take issue with him saying something about it. It was the rude manner in which he addressed me that left me honesty in shock for a few minutes, while my husband finished the beer he had ordered when he first arrived I contemplated ordering my drink and food as we had intended while stopping at this venue and we both quickly decided we would have to take our business elsewhere. I was upset and felt incredibly uncomfortable and unwelcome there. I don't know if they simply don't want dogs there (which I understand if they don't, but just make it a rule instead of creating an atmosphere, as a customer it would be...

Title: Chetco Brewing Company, Brookings: A Brew Haven Worth Revisiting

Review:

It's rare to find a place that combines excellent beer, great atmosphere, and top-notch service, but Chetco Brewing Company in Brookings, Oregon, manages to hit all those marks. I've visited this spot multiple times, and it's consistently fantastic.

Firstly, the beer selection is exceptional, showcasing a variety of unique flavors and styles. Whether you're a seasoned beer enthusiast or a casual drinker, Chetco has something to suit your palate. You can tell that the brewers take immense pride in crafting each brew, making it a truly enjoyable experience.

The staff also deserves a shout-out for their excellent service. They are not only knowledgeable about their beers but also attentive and friendly, creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere that invites you to stay awhile.

One of the things I especially appreciate about Chetco Brewing is its spacious layout. There's plenty of room to spread out, whether you prefer to lounge indoors or enjoy the fresh air in their outdoor seating area. This makes it a perfect spot to catch up with friends, spend time with family, or even just savor a good book along with your pint.

If you find yourself in or around Brookings, I highly recommend making a pit stop at Chetco Brewing Company. It's a haven for beer lovers and a great place to relax and unwind.

Stopped in for a quick bite to eat. Choose this place because when we called the person who answered, informed us they are dog and kid friendly and even have high chairs. Bartender was top notch went out of his way to ensure we had everything we needed for both the baby as well as our four legged baby. Offered great suggestions as far as beer, and offered samples before we choose what we were going to go with. Great selection of beers and we choose the Logger Pale Ale and the Porter. Both were very good. They have a Menu for a food cart inside the brewery. Please note that the menu is completely vegan and there is no meat even in the burger. We did not realize that going in and went with Tots and Pretzel bites. Both were ok. We are not vegan so obviously the menu was a little disappointing but the the entire staff greeting us as we walked in and out, the great customer service from the bartender and what seems like a great place to have a good beer more than made up for it!!! Definatly recommended even if...

Update August 2022: wow! A lot has changed since we were here several years ago. The crowded, fun, high/positive energy vibe is gone. Not many people and not much positive energy. More signs telling you what was not allowed than people. Dogs allowed but not welcomed. Perhaps they had a lawsuit. Their IPAs were solid and their guest cider was good. Charged $2 for each taster. Vegan food truck. We ordered the hummus which was fairly bland but they did have hot sauce. The side veggies and pita were good. Response to Owner: thanks for responding. I figured something must have happened. I don't understand dog owners that bring aggressive dogs to establishments or on the trails. We will come back - I enjoy your IPAs - very solid - and hopefully you will have a cider and/or sour on tap. ~7 years prior: Great beer with lots of choices. Great kombucha. Great vibe. Dog friendly inside and out. Good service and friendly patrons.

Great beer. I’m having a chocolate peanut butter stout which sounds odd. They let us taste it first, and I found the chocolate to be bold while the peanut butter is thankfully a background flavor. They have two food trucks, one vegan and one meaty. The meaty one, The Little Trolley, offers burgers, tacos, hot dogs, and a couple hot sandwiches. We ordered from the vegan truck, Off the Wagon. We got Vachos and Esperanza’s enchilada casserole. Both were delicious!
