As a family of four, we spent five nights here during spring break. This was a pretty good place to stay except for a couple of drawbacks.
But first the good:. Everybody was friendly and helpful. Everything seemed clean and smelled good. The beds we're comfortable and the a/c worked very well. The breakfast was better than most of the hotel chain breakfasts. So, in those respects, this is a great place to stay, and I'd give this hotel high marks for these most important aspects.
Now for the not-so good: The worst was the design of the sliding door that doubled as a door for the bathroom and for the closet. When it was closed for the bathroom, it was open for the closet, and vice versa. Several problems with the design. First, there was about a 1.5-inch gap between the door and the wall. This meant that if somebody was in the bathroom with the door closed and the light on, a ton of light would still spill through that gap and invade the bedroom. You could also stand outside of the closed door and peek into the bathroom and see the person in there if they were standing in front of the mirror. (That did not cause a problem for us as our one family stayed in the room, but I could see how it could be a problem in some circumstances.). The second problem with the door design is that if you are standing at the closet and reaching into it at the same time somebody exits the bathroom, then you have to jump out of the way to avoid the door sliding into you. Third problem is that you cannot lock the bathroom door. This whole door thing was annoying, and was just not thought out well in it's design. Somebody probably thought it to be a clever idea, but it definitely was not. To me, this door thing turned out to be a major negative of the hotel.
The next problem with the room was the lack of drawer space and the design of the existing drawers. There were only three drawers in the room, and they were basically wire racks on sliders. Smaller items stored in the drawers would fall through the gaps. There were no nightstands beside the beds, just one counter-top shelf in between the beds. So there was no storage opportunity there.
Other issues we had:. The mini-fridge froze everything we put in it, and we could not find a thermostat in the fridge to correct the problem. The cleaning staff kept giving us only three sets of towels when they made the room, although we started out with four sets on our first day there. We had to ask every day for another set of towels and washcloths. One day we left our room about 10:30 in the morning, and when we returned at 5:30 that afternoon, the room had not been cleaned. We notified the front desk, and they apologized and sent someone up immediately to clean the room for us.
There are a whole lot of really good things about this hotel. Friendly, clean, comfortable, good breakfast. The design problems of the door and the drawer issues brought my review down to three stars. All the rest of the little issues I could definitely overlook, mainly because everyone was friendly and nobody we encountered had a bad attitude. Our requests were always met with a smile and prompt,...
Read moreVisited here recently mid week and it is located conveniently off of Hwy. 281 in a area with loads of restaurants and a Walmart.||Parking right in front and they also have a covered drive at the front door.||There wasn't anyone at the desk when we arrived but did notice a sign that they were busy elsewhere and would return soon.||In about 10 minutes someone showed up, apologized for the wait, and checked us in quickly.||Although there was not an abundance of vehicles in the parking lot and we only saw a couple of people during our stay, they seemed to be limited on the available rooms when we requested a certain section. Maybe they are short staffed and just booking everyone on one floor.||They have two elevators and there was never a wait for either.||They allow pets up to 75 lbs. and there is a $75 charge.||The room was clean and had vinyl plank in bath and entry BUT the rest of the room had low pile carpeting. It seems it might have been better with the vinyl plank in the entire room, especially since pets are allowed.||The room had a microwave, small refrigerator, chaise lounge, coffee maker, desk etc.||The TV worked fine but limited channels.||We didn't use the pool but it looked standard and there are a few picnic tables off from it under some trees as well as some pool seating.||You can hear the noise from the highway if you are on that end wing closest to 281.||The noise level was VERY LOW and the bed and pillows were comfortable.||The shower was perfect with a good shower head with great water pressure.||They serve a continental breakfast from 6-10 am and the dining room is fairly large.||The offerings were oatmeal, cereals, bagels, yogurt, bacon, small egg/cheese omelet, and roasted red potatoes. I was looking for biscuits but didn't find any.||They also had waffles and pancakes along with milk, coffee and assortment of juices. Surely something for everyone.||There also is a section by the front counter that has snack food and drinks to purchase.||All areas were kept up nicely which is a plus since this is the only hotel...
Read moreOne of the best hotels I have stayed in. Not sure how old the property is, but it feels new because it is so clean and well maintained.||We stayed in a King room on the pool side, top floor. From the bed , there is a great view of the hills to the north through the large window. The window has a privacy/sun shade along with a blackout shade. ||The room has the best layout I have ever seen and feels very spacious. None of that cramped, claustrophobic feeling. ||The bathroom is large and well laid out. The shower is large, with glass doors. The shower head has good water pressure, and the water is hot. There are good quality bath products in wall mounted dispensers both in the shower and at the sink. No cheesy little bottles here. ||Breakfast is good but not excellent. Main course is the same cheese omelet you get at many hotels, but they also have sliced fried potatoes and link sausage. The sausage was quite good for a hotel breakfast. They have all the other usual items that you might want. ||The outdoor pool is better than your average pool. Ver clean and well maintained. It was very enjoyable sitting out by the pool. ||Other positives: Good soundproofing; good tv with HBO, ESPN etc; good bed and comforter; good quality extra blanket; good lighting.||Negatives are very few. The entrance to the hotel is not well marked and is not obvious, so is easy to miss. Also, the last time we stayed there was a problem with the AC. The staff resolved the problem quickly by moving us to another room. The AC in that room worked flawlessly.||I want to commend both Trevor and Isabel. Both showed excellent customer service skills. But more than that, they both had a caring attitude. Trevor helped us when we called to get an early check-in. His phone skills were perfect. Isabel resolved the problem with the AC for us in a way that left us...
