I’ve come here very often over the last year and a half. I’ve ordered for pick up, I’ve ordered from the drive thru, but I usually come in to eat so that I can enjoy the food right away while it’s fresh and hot. Almost always have had speedy service and usually the servers are VERY attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is good too, a good place to watch sports and drink margaritas (which they have several to choose from and all are delicious. I love the mango chamoy margarita). They actually have a full bar. Best “Mexican martini” around! Chips and salsa comes out right away and both are super good. Thin crispy warm chips, the salsa is fresh tasting and full of flavor. They have 3 to choose from but always give you “red” unless you ask for verde or roasted.
All restaurants have good and bad days and I can say for sure they have more good days than bad. The food is always excellent. And they are QUICK. Sometimes the food comes out within minutes. They are really cool about making sure you get exactly what you want and don’t mind substitutions.
Everything is made from scratch in their kitchen. All the sauces, salsa, tortillas…basically everything. Their style of cooking is somewhere between authentic Mexican and Tex-mex. Their chicken soup is excellent. I get that often. But I’ve also tried several of their “plates” … enchiladas are on point, they have SO MANY different tacos and all of them are great too. Try their fajitas (parridalles, I’m probably spelling that wrong) they come out smoking and sizzling and delicious. They have excellent breakfast choices as well, and omg their coffee (tho it’s nothing special, just a regular “cup of Joe”) is always sooooooo good. So fresh tasting! Everything is priced reasonably and you get plenty of food.
I think any negative review you may read here are from people who didn’t give them a second chance. Servers and cooks are people. And no one is perfect all the time. But they are A LOT closer to perfect than anywhere else I’ve dined at in the area. I highly doubt you will be disappointed. Anytime I’ve had any problems (which was maybe only once or twice out of countless meals) they have been happy to fix it right away. Full service servers in Texas only make a couple dollars as their hourly wage so they definitely work really hard to make sure you are happy. Tips are how servers...
Read moreMy husband and I have eaten here on many occasions and it has always been a good experience......until our last visit.
We went to eat at Ay Chiwawa's on 1/13/2018. Our waitress was Angie. Maybe this was her first day, she was new or maybe she doesn't know proper waitressing etiquette, not sure, but here is how the experience went.....
I ordered the Beef Fajita plate with no rice and extra beans, I saw her write this down (although I could not see what she was writing). After both my husband and I placed our orders, she repeated it back to us. When she repeated my order she said, "Beef Fajita Plate with double rice". I said, "I wanted double beans and not double rice". She smiled and said, "Oh, okay", and proceeded to write something else down.
When we received our orders, what came on my Beef Fajita plate? Rice. I mentioned this to her and she said, “I thought I put double beans?” I asked her if I could have a side of beans as that is what I asked for, not rice and she started to take my plate. Now, I have worked in 4 different restaurants in my life for a total of 8 years (3 of them Mexican food restaurants) and in no restaurant I have ever worked at was I allowed to take a customer’s plate if the reason for the mistake was "my" fault. I asked her if she could just bring a side of beans again and she said, "They will probably charge you for the beans if I do that". Well, that kinda irritated me so I allowed her to take my plate.....As I mentioned before, at the restaurants I have worked at in the past, I was never "allowed" to take a customer’s plate away from the table, THEN, bring the same plate back (this is a sanitary issue in most food industries). However, she brought the same plate back with the rice scraped off and beans added.
I do this review more for the restaurant and its employees than for the general public to simply say that the customer is always right. I didn’t make the mistake, the waitress did and she should have corrected it, not taken my plate away and presented me with the same plate again with the rice removed. Maybe teach your employees the proper etiquette of waitressing and how to deal with their mistakes instead of telling the customer they will get “charged” if they (the wait staff) fix the mistake that they (the wait staff) made. Only a suggestion. Thanks...
Read moreI was close by at a Surgery Facility, my wife was having surgery. At about 10 am, I was told about this place, that it was close by if I needed something to eat for breakfast. So, I went, well, I was not too excited about eating at this fancy Mexican food joint
I ordered the Migas😳 Big Mistake! Tortilla chips were Burnt to a crisp! Very little egg No Pico de Gallo mixed in the Migas, like there supposed to be and the whole Migas meal was very very dry and extremely bland. I asked the waitress if the flour tortillas were good and if they are made here fresh in the kitchen, and she didn't understand my question and she said, "I don't know" !
I was given the receipt of the cost of the Migas and tea at the table and I went to the counted to pay so I can leave this place to never ever return ever again.
My total to pay was $ 12.40. I handed to man $15.00 cash. He said, " Do you want your change"?😳 I looked at him and smiled and said, " Yes,I want my change!"🙄 The man went into the kitchen and asked the waitress that waited on me for some of her" TIP MONEY", so he could give me MY CHANGE!
I received my change of $2.60 and I left thinking,,, This is the most Stupid food business that I have ever been too, and It just hit me, That, It must be that everyone that EATS there, well, they must All pay for their meal with a credit card and that must be why there is never ever Any change given back to the customer. Ha! There is no need to keep change in the cash register! 🤔😳
I was looked at like, Aye Pendejo Stupido
Don't believe me??? Try paying in cash next time there at this...
