My Unforgettable Encounter with Be.Steak.A: A Symbiosis of Environment, Gastronomy, and Service.
Well, fellow foodies and wine lovers, let me take you on a culinary journey I embarked on a few weeks back. My palate and I had the pleasure of visiting Be.Steak.A in Campbell, Santa Clara County, California. Let me tell you, folks, it was quite the gastronomic adventure, to say the least!
Walking into Be.Steak.A, I was immediately struck by the atmosphere - think warm, inviting, and effortlessly sophisticated. This is a place that manages to balance an air of elegance with a homey, welcoming vibe, a delicate dance that many establishments try but fail to achieve. The interior decor was chic yet understated, providing a comfortable backdrop that lets the real star of the show shine - the food.
And shine it did. But hold your horses, folks, let's not get ahead of ourselves. The success of a restaurant doesn't just hinge on the quality of its food - it starts from the very moment you set foot inside.
Service at Be.Steak.A is nothing short of stellar. The staff, attentive but unobtrusive, showed the sort of hospitality that makes you feel less like a customer and more like a cherished guest. They displayed a keen understanding of the menu, demonstrating not just a passing knowledge of the dishes but a real passion for what they serve. Every recommendation was spot on, every description piqued my interest, and every interaction added a touch more magic to the experience.
Now, onto the gastronomy – the pièce de résistance. As a wine and gourmet expert, my taste buds have been around the block a few times. They're not easily impressed, but boy, did they have a field day at Be.Steak.A. The menu boasted a fine selection of dishes, but as the name suggests, the focus is on steak – and believe me when I say, it is absolutely worth the spotlight.
The steaks are a carnivorous ballet, each a testament to the art of grilling. Perfectly seared with a crusty exterior that gives way to tender, juicy meat within. The balance of flavors and textures is nothing short of poetry on a plate. And let’s not forget the accompaniments - thoughtfully chosen, well-prepared, and every bit as delicious.
As for the wine – well, dear readers, let's just say that the selection had me feeling like a kid in a candy store. Their wine list was a well-curated delight that had something for every palate, from the casual wine lover to the seasoned connoisseur. Their selection married beautifully with the food, each wine opening up a new dimension of flavor in each dish.
So, there you have it – Be.Steak.A, a haven where great food, excellent service, and a fantastic atmosphere come together in perfect harmony. It's an experience that satisfies not just the stomach but the soul. And isn’t that what great dining is all about?
Special mention deserve ChateauBriand and The Cake (amazing cake) pairing with Sauternes.
For this occasion, we paring our main courses with Marqués de Murrieta, 2017 (Finca Ygay)
It's been some time since I've had the chance to pair dishes with Spanish wines, as my focus has largely shifted towards the wines of California recently. A profound, gleaming ruby hue sets the stage. On the nose, aromas of cherry, red currant, and pipe tobacco playfully intertwine with floral and vanilla notes, making for a truly expressive bouquet. The palate is vibrant and lively, brimming with flavors of bitter cherry, red berries, and a layer of spicecake that adds complexity. This wine truly stands out as a triumphant creation. Perfect to pairing with Chateaubriand.
I hope this little recap stoked your appetite and got you excited to try out Be.Steak.A yourself. As they say, the proof of the pudding (or in this case, the steak) is in the eating. Happy...
Read moreBe.Steak.A is a contemporary Italian-influenced steakhouse recognized by the Michelin guide. They are open nightly for dinner, as well as lunch on Fridays and Saturdays. On Sundays they have an extra special treat of an all-you-can-eat (AYCE) brunch buffet, which is what I had the pleasure of experiencing. The AYCE brunch buffet is priced at $125 per person - drinks and other specials are available as an extra charge (like their tomahawk steak). Given the popularity of the brunch buffet (and the restaurant in general), reservations are highly recommended!
My party of 6 arrived for our 10:30am reservation on a sunny Sunday morning eager to enjoy their all-you-can-eat brunch buffet. Once our entire party had arrived, we were invited to enjoy a glass of complimentary prosecco or sparkling apple juice (a lovely non-alcoholic choice). Afterwards we were led to our table, and then released on our own to enjoy their various offerings. Their cold buffet is located in the main dining room and this consists of (what I will be calling) their salad table, their charcuterie table, their appetizer table, the drinks station, and the dessert bar. Meanwhile they've also opened up their kitchen complete with warm food offerings including a pastry/baked goods section, a meat carving station, a classic breakfast station (think eggs, sausage, bacon), and (one of my personal favorites) a build-your-own waffle bar (not pictured because I was too excited to eat it).
With so many options at your fingertips, it can be hard to decide where to start - personally I would recommend starting in the kitchen with the warm selections so you can enjoy those right off the bat, followed by snacking on the cold buffet options. In the kitchens, we helped ourselves to a slice of their prime rib, filet mignon, and beef wellington. I also grabbed some traditional breakfast goods including bacon and a waffle topped with whipped cream and strawberries.
From the cold buffet outside, some of our favorite selections included: speck and prosciutto from the charcuterie table, caviar on blinis complete with sour cream and chives, and the yogurt parfait (which I added plenty of fresh raspberries and strawberries to). The drinks available to us included cucumber water, pineapple line agua fresca, and orange juice.
I can't say enough about the sheer volume of desserts you can chose from - there's everything from cakes to creme brule, to gelato, absolutely perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth. Some of my favorites were the tiramisu and the gelato (our options were mango, chocolate, and vanilla).
The food was all well cooked and well-prepared (though I will saw some of the meat selections were bit on the dry side, though that's probably to be expected from a buffet-style restaurant and the meat is often sitting out for a bit by the time you help yourself to a piece). Personally, I think the $125/person price tag is a bit steep for this; however, they do provide a wide range of food options so as long as you eat to your heart's content I'm sure you'll be able to make it worth your while.
Needless to say, this Be.Steak.A's AYCE brunch buffet is something you need to experience for yourself as reading about this establishment can only tell you so much. If you now find yourself intrigued, then definitely consider making a reservation! (p.s. if you celebrate your birthday here, they'll give you a personalized birthday card and a sparkler to round...
Read moreMy friends and I visited Be.Steak.Ã on a Sunday for their lunch buffet. The buffet costs $110 pp before taxes and tips. Any drinks that you order are an additional charge.
Be.Steak.Ã's Sunday lunch buffet was a symphony of flavors and experiences punctuated by moments of both pure indulgence and slight stumbles. While not quite hitting a perfect five-star score, it certainly earns a solid four stars, leaving me with a positive overall impression.
Right when you enter the restaurant, you are greeted by the front desk staff and offered a complimentary drink. You can pick from either a sparking wine or an apple cider. After we got our complimentary drinks, the staff escorted us to our table where our server walked us through the basics - the layout of the buffet, the drinks menu, and how the buffet works.
Ambiance and Atmosphere: Stepping into Be.Steak.A felt like entering a sun-drenched villa in the Mediterranean. Vibrant blues, reds, and whites washed over the space, accented by warm wood details. Light streamed through large windows, creating a bright and airy atmosphere. While the tables were spaced comfortably, the lively buzz of conversations filled the restaurant, creating a vibrant yet relaxed social vibe.
Service: Our server Colton was attentive, funny, and knowledgeable. He patiently explained the extensive buffet offerings and gave us enough heads up before the buffet closed. The service was on point and impressive. Every time we got back to your table after filling another plate with food, the staff had already taken care of all the empty plates on our table. This provided a seamless dining experience.
The Feast: Now, onto the star of the show - the buffet! The spread was truly impressive, offering a dizzying array of options. Unlimited portions of glistening oysters, smoked salmon, plump shrimp, and fresh caviar were a decadent start. Succulent cuts of meats, from melt-in-your-mouth juicy prime rib to beef wellington and filet mignon, satisfied the carnivore in all of us. The sides were equally impressive, featuring roasted vegetables, fruits, skewers, sausages, croquettes, and many more items showcasing a focus on fresh seasonal ingredients The dessert table was a sugary wonderland, boasting a wide array of options - delicate pastries, decadent cakes, tiramisu, refreshing sorbets, tarts, candies and whatnot. Every dish was well-prepared and flavorful, highlighting the quality of the ingredients.
A Minor Quirk: One of my friends tried the pork ribs, and it tasted a bit funny and had a pungent smell. We told the staff about it. Later, we were informed that the chef tasted it and found nothing wrong. They also mentioned that they use a different relish/ glaze for their ribs, so that could be it, but to be on the safe side, they did throw away that batch of pork ribs.
Overall: Be.Steak.A's Sunday lunch buffet is a luxurious and indulgent experience. The combination of exceptional food quality, a vibrant atmosphere, and attentive service makes it a perfect choice for a special occasion or a simply memorable weekend meal. It's definitely pricey, so whether or not you get your money's worth depends on how much you eat and...
