OCK has some hits and misses, so I'm not sold just yet. I was slightly regretting not making a reservation ahead of time when I saw a crowd around the hostess stand around dinner time on Sunday evening. Luckily we were seated within just a few minutes. There were rows of tables alongside a bar looking into an exposed kitchen, and even more seating in a large patio area.
$14 One in a Melon - Japanese whisky, aged agricole rhum, cantaloupe, toasted sunflower, nigori sake, sirop de canne: There's nothing like a cool, refreshing, summer cocktail with fresh fruit.
$15 Mac n' Cheese - Carolina BBQ sauce, sharp cheddar, smoked chicken, spiced breadcrumb: I love me a baked mac 'n' cheese, but I wasn't too impressed with this one. The cheese is more on the liquid-y side and I don't think the BBQ sauce is very good to pair with it. However, I appreciated having a little protein in a more fatty dish, as well as the breadcrumbs.
$8.50 KFC Korean Fried Chicken - gochujang, green onion, sweet heat, garlic: These are just chicken nuggets dressed in sweet and spicy sauce, dressed with sesame seeds, pickle slices, and a lime wedge. Not impressed.
$7.50 BBB Biscuits, Bacon, Honey Butter: These 3 items slightly redeemed the above two dishes. The biscuits were warm and buttery. The bacon was on the thicker side, and a little sweet. The honey butter tasted very good, though it's not a far cry from sweet cream butter that you can find in stores.
$15 Bone Marrow - panzanella, stone fruit, levain, saba, purslane: Excellent! I don't think I have ever had bone marrow scoop out of the bone so cleanly before. Smooth, rich, and spreads nicely on the levain. The sweet and sour fruit slices helped to cut through some of the richness.
$16.25 Steak Tartare - puttanesca capers, anchovies, olives, chili, garlic, tomato, lavash: I'm always a fan of steak tartare, but this was just okay. I appreciated the thick chunks of beef, but it could have used a finer chop to eat with the lavash, and perhaps more acid flavor. Plus, steak tartare is not great with lavash, since it doesn't scoop or hold the meat very well.
$16.75 Shrimp Dumplings - Brentwood corn, scallion, frizzled ginger, Calabrian chili, cilantro: Perhaps the worst of the dishes? I couldn't taste much shrimp or perhaps the shrimp was chopped and mashed beyond recognition. My friend commented that these just taste like well-plated, dressed up frozen dumplings. Well, with all the micro greens and flowers on a plate with just a few dumplings, I can't say I disagree.
Burger & Fries: Excellent! Beef was cooked to a nice medium-rare. Cheese was gooey and melted. Arugula and fried onions paired very well. The fluffy bun held up well and was in good proportion to the patty. The herb fries were very good too.
So out of the seven dishes we tried, I would only recommend the burger, bone marrow, and possibly BBB. I enjoyed the drinks, too. Some dishes weren't worth the money, especially the dumplings. I'm not sure I would come back, since I didn't find anything else on the menu I really wanted to try, but my friend did mention that the brunch is good. So far, I give this...

Read moreA fantastic restaurant with a wide variety of succulent food to share with your friends. It also has a DESTINATION bathroom.
This place was absolutely amazing. They have a Michelin Gourmet Bib rating for a reason. The food came out fast and hot along with the great service that was constantly checking to make sure we were okay and our food was cooked correctly. The medium portions are best to do in waves by ordering two or three things at once. My party if 4 started with the Triple B, and the KFC. Then moved onto the Ribeye, Fried Cornbread, and SMASHED potatoes. Then, we finished things off with the garlic noodles, scallops, and crab.
One of the best food experiences ever. The steak was perfectly cooked melt in your mouth. The potatoes were absolutely perfect along with every thing else they brought out. As well, the scallops were the best I have ever had.
Now onto the bathroom. I have rated a lot of bathrooms in my day, but boy oh boy did this one impress me. Let's start with the basics, Trash Cans 2 points. Nice and easy points for them with great placement (one by the sink, one by the door). Lighting is 2 points, perfection. Not only well lit inside and outside the stall, but also lightens the mood with the fantastic themes of the movie Bloodsport. Cleanliness was an easy 2 out of 2. You can tell the people that made this bathroom were experts, no mess on the floor, no wet spots, no paper towels on the floor, nothing. Comfortability is the easiest 2 I have ever given. Not only do you have a FULL DOOR divider from the stall to the urinal but also have a very classy vacant red/green on the door so you don't just bust in. As well the stall contains a heated seat with bidet if you prefer to use those. The urinals were not only well space but had a full, non clear decorated barrier. I would give it a bonus point if I could. This all adds into the perfect spacing to give that a 2 as well. The mirror spacing was fantastic as well, no angle to catch a glimpse while you are washing your hands. The sink faucet is perfect with instant water.
Overall one of the best experiences I have ever had a restaurant. From food as good as it comes to one of the greatest bathrooms I have ever been in. Deserving of the 5 star rating more than anything. Make sure to throw in a beer for...
