Came to this based off the reviews and cool spot for bottomless mimosas. We were right on time when they opened at 11am. We were sat down at the table and had dirty glassware that had streaks on one cup and lip marks on another. We had to request new glassware and were brought some with the water inside. Our waitress was named, Darby. I ordered the Bodhi bowl with chicken and shrimp. My wife ordered the chilaquiles with a well done egg (not runny). Nothing in the menu description for chilaquiles did it mention about there being, onions or regular cheese. It did mention queso fresco. When we got our order, my bowl was doused in their turmeric dressing but otherwise not too bad. My wife’s dish was not so impressed. It had either shard cheddar cheese or mozzarella cheese. My wife does not like onions and came with a lot of them. Had it read that on the menu, she would have asked them not to put onions on there. The chilaquiles did not have no queso fresco and we had to later ask for it. Her egg was runny and not cooked all the way through. She even showed the waitress who didn’t care to replace or fix the problem. After we got our food, our waitress didn’t care too much to address the problem / situation at hand even though she knew. It wasn’t that busy during this time. Business later started to pick up and saw people walking out due to no one addressing them as they waited. My wife then took a few bites, passing on some of the under cooked egg onto my plate and a side plate that touched her chips. We requested actual queso fresco and our waitress later brought that and extra sauce (noticing there wasn’t enough added when it originally came out). After a couple bites my wife passed on her plate to be removed. The waitress noticed and saw it was still pretty full, never asked what the issue was or asked how to fix it and simply asked to remove the plate which we agreed. However, she left the side of runny eggs on our table for a VERY long extended period of time. My wife absolutely does not like runny eggs so I had to cover it up with my napkin. I told my wife to order something else, so she ordered a burger. That came out, tender and juicy and was well tasted. However, our waitress came too soon and asked my wife for a box as she was still eating. Out waitress even asked to bring out our check a couple times as we were still dining and later brought it by without us requesting for it. Overall our experience put a bad taste in our mouth. Rather than correcting the issue or simply removing the plate from the bill she offered us a 10% discount. I wouldn’t recommend the food or service. IF WE WERE to ever come back it would be for the bottomless mimosas but not for the...
Read moreTerrible place. Awful experience!!!! Last week while visiting Colorado, my wife and I found this place on Google. After searching and reading the reviews, we decided to go there with friends. We sat down outside and ordered appetizers and drinks to start and looked forward to a nice meal, in a nice place, after a long day of travel. The appetizers and drinks were good and we placed our entrée order. After a short while, a bee landed in my wife’s Cosmo. The waitress was busy and I decided to bring it to the bartender to see if we could get a new one. It was about 1/2 -way full. When I showed it to the bartender, he looked at me and asked, “so what do you want me to do about it?” I felt awkward and responded that it would be nice if he replaced it because of the bee inside the drink. With a look as though I was trying to rob him, he responded, “you want me to replace your drink?” I replied that he should do what he feels is right, left the drink, and returned to our table. The waitress returned shortly, placed a ½-filled drink in front of my wife and said” here’s your ½ Cosmo”. We were all surprised by the attitude and wondered what to do next. We had too much fun on too long of a day to get truly upset. I then looked at the glass and noticed, it looked the same as the one I returned…WITHOUT THE BEE! Seeing my wife NOT happy about this, I had had enough with this absolute insult! I took the drink back. Placed it in front of the wise-guy bartender and let him know how insulted I was. I then cancel the entrees and asked for the check. When it came, she said she would email it to me. I asked for a paper copy. The waitress seemed disturbed by the request and sent someone else with it. I paid the bill without a tip. Here is my tip…DO NOT GO TO STREETCAR 520! BTW: According to their attitudes, they now owe me for the ½-drink we never finished. Don’t worry I won’t ever be going back! If this is what they do when a customer is looking, imagine what they do when no one is looking!!! We made up for the upsetting time by having a fantastic dinner at Spring Orleans and the most incredible dessert at The Famous Steak House. We visit often. We may keep learning which are the nice places to go to, but we definitely know not to go to this Streetcar 520. It’s a...
Read moreI went to Streetcar520 today (a Sunday) for lunch, but ordered from their brunch menu. I don’t believe their brunch offerings are listed on their website or social media, maybe because they frequently rotate the dishes. Talking to the bartender, I chose the breakfast fried chicken – which comes in a shallow bowl (which are often referred to as low or pasta bowls). The fried chicken comes with eggs (cooked to choice), diced skillet potatoes, a creole gravy, and spinach. It was great! …and huge! With it, I had a couple cocktails from their menu – ones that I’ve had before and couldn’t resist getting again:
NARA FUEGO Lee Spirits’ Gin Fuego + lemon + brown sugar + orange bitters
SMOOTH OPERATOR Distillery 291’s Fresh + cucumber + lemon + lime + lavender
The last time I had them, they were built by Streetcar’s bar manager, Winn Kirkpatrick – this time, the drinks were made by Kendra Shock. Today was a testament to their bar’s consistency. Kirkpatrick has always been generous and accommodating as a bartender – treating me better than he knows me, as if I’m a special guest. I’ve known Kendra as a bartender, barista and server from The Principal’s Office since I moved here a few years ago. She’s always been fantastic and friendly; Streetcar is very fortunate to have her join their team.
Ari Howard, the owner, wasn’t there for the hour I was, but in my experience she has been every other time I’ve visited. Ari has a lot of industry experience having co-owned the Irish pub that existed prior to remodeling and rebranding the space into Streetcar520. She’s also known to give the best hugs in Colorado Springs – which are probably in limited supply currently, due to COVID.
I had a great experience, as always. Next time I drop in, I want to try their Barramundi Bao Buns and the Drunken Sparrow...
