I actually checked in to this hotel due to the fact I had a loved one in the hospital and needed something close to where I needed to go. I am not from Columbus, I live in Marietta so I needed something convenient. My 10 year old daughter was with me, and we had just got done at the hospital so it was around 9-9:30 when we got there to check in. We got into the elevator with our stuff, the elevator was dirty but I get that some things get overlooked. All I really cared about was our room being clean and sleep because we had an early morning to head back to the hospital and it was already late. Upon entering, there was dry cereal on the floor along with other crumbs that hadn't been swept up from the previous guests. The 2 beds had the cover blanket on top, a cream color, but had stains that appeared to be make up or something on both of them. After taking that off, I threw the blankets back on both beds and looked at the sheets and one bed had little black curly hairs, a few, so I looked at the other and it was clean aside from the pillows having something on them. So, my daughter and I slept in 1 bed after taking pillows from the other. While walking around the other bed by the window (the bed with the hair) I almost stepped on what looked like a smashed bug embedded in the floor. I went to the bathroom first to get ready for bed, and there was 1 towel with 1 wash rag along with the toilet paper on the roll reaching the floor that looked like it hadn't been swept with a broom in a while. I looked in the shower and the tub looked like it had dirt all over the bottom of it. At that point, I knew that the 2 night stay wasn't feasible, as we were not bathing in that shower and after traveling to get there it was necessary. Yes, I could have went down to the lobby and complained and got put in another room but I hate complaining and honestly we were both so tired from the days events that I didn't feel like going through all of that. The next morning, we were rushing out to get to the hospital still tired from people yelling, cussing, all hours of the night (no fault of hotel staff, i understand this) and I did not have the time or energy to explain and figure something out so we ended up going to the hospital and coming back and loading our stuff up. I knew that it was too late to even get my money back which is fine, I explained that to the clerk when I told him that we were leaving that day (29th) instead of staying till the 30th. All that I wanted was the $50 deposit refunded back to my card, which, was ironic to me considering the condition of the room when we arrived. The clerk told me that it would be refunded back the next day (30th). I did not complain about the condition of the room, I understand that I paid for 2 nights there. But, the fact is that had I had the time and it wasn't such an extenuating circumstance, I would have said something about the room being dirty. I know that little things happen and get missed, but the room literally looked like they went in, made the bed and then left. No vacuum, no broom, and definitely no clean linen at least on one bed that I used my best judgement about. After seeing the elevator, then the room, I was not going to chance my daughter swimming in the pool because I didn't want to take the chance that it hadn't been cleaned either (I had promised her a little break the next day after being cooped up in the hospital with me all day). I bagged up what little trash we had from snacks and took it out of the can to tie it off and there was a melted piece of candy at the bottom of it so i put it back. I went to another hotel that was a little farther of a drive but it was clean and really that's all we needed- and we didn't have to ask. I just wanted to make you aware so that if someone else is ever in the position that I was in, they don't have to have that happen to them as well. Aside from the cleanliness, staff was friendly from what interaction was had, and the outside of the hotel looked super cute and welcoming on...
Read moreOn 8/30 I called to make a reservation to check in on 9/2. I gave CC details for payment, name etc. Asked to be sent a confirmation and was told ok, gave email address and ended the call. Called back on Wednesday and asked for confirm email, told to call back, he could not see info, he was new. Called again on Thursday and was told he did not know how to pull it up, he asked me to call when his manager came in whose name is Rich. I did not call back until Friday morning, same person told me he was new and got his manager Rich. Rich tells me my reservation was set for Thursday and we were a now show. Told him we were on the way asked for confirm, he proceeded to advise our confirm was 65937415 for 3 nights. He could not explain to me why $676 00 had been held on my CC. Told us we were a no show for Thursday and he was going to get it straight and call us back. Never did he say we had no room and he did not call me back. Did I say we were driving in from Charlotte, NC? No call from Rich. At 4:55 pm we pull up, still no call from Rich. We wait in line to be spoken to by Alicia or whomever your night auditor is in a very nasty way. Her words, you were a no show yesterday, you are rude, asked Rich can we remove them from the property, you are not top tier we will not see if anyone else has anything available close by. Never were we rude, we stay with Country Inn and suites at least 4 or 5 times a year because it is in the town my mother in laws lives in and we stay enough to earn free nights yearly. Three weeks ago we stayed in Savanah, GA at CIS. If Rich was the manager he surely did not speak or act as if he was. He stood there looking dumb founded, allowed an employee to speak to a potential guest like they did not matter. Being a service provider director in the Fiancial Industry fir more than 35 years, I would never allow my staff to speak to anyone like she did. Rich is not management material, your night auditor is very rude and we witnessed it not just with us but the person after us. Hire and train staff pre pandemic, do not just have a body that can not help your potential gust/clients. The young lady who took the reservation needs to be trained. Oh and thank you to the staff at The Marriott Courtyard across the street, who assisted us to locate a room on the holiday weekend, OSU vs ND weekend at their hotel. They have whats called reserve rooms. We will never stay at Country Inn & Suites again. Terrible I mean TERRIBLE customer service. I could not tell who was the manager Rich or the night auditor, he never said a word and never corrected her on her tone, attitude etc. I have sent this to corporate as well. Marcus and...
Read moreI do quite a bit of traveling, and it’s safe to say that I have a high tolerance for sub-par accommodations. At first glance, my hotel room looked decent. It spacious, somewhat aesthetically appealing and does not have any offensive smells. That allowed me to look past the crumbs, dirt, and stains on the floors, walls, and drapes. My perspective drastically changed on the second night after being bitten by an ant on the bed. Surely, that little insect unluckily found its way in me just to die, so I thought. Then another ant and another bite. This led me to further investigate my room to find more ants on the bed and crawling on the headboard. My sleep was interrupted at 2am by these cuddly critters and curiosity led me to meticulously investigate my room. It seems apparent to me that the rooms (at least my room) are barely cleaned or not cleaned at all. I came to this conclusion after finding other customers’ long hairs in the bed sheets, makeup stains on the pillows, stains and hairs in the towels, and trash behind the bed. I requested for another room and received 0 empathy, 0 apologies, and 1 spray can of insecticide. Now I’m just sitting in a disgusting room with the smell of bug spray wondering when the rest of those ants are going to come out and reclaim this room. To keep this review short, here’s a quick breakdown about everything else; Breakfast sucks, trash I saw in the stairway from the day before still hasn’t been picked up, fitness center is closed but doesn’t have a sign, I use the stairs because I feel like the elevator hasn’t been inspected since it was first installed, the carpet in the lobby stairway looks like it’s from the 90s and hasn’t been cleaned since, and the coffee tastes like it’s been sitting and just reheated. In my short stay, I have only seen 1 employee - A man of many hats. He is the receptionist, breakfast chef, garbage man, the keep, and also and customer service. Dude is spread thin. That could possibly explain the lack of upkeep, lack of food for breakfast, and lack of customer service. If I were him I would also have 0 mental capacity for empathy. One thing that’s not lacking here are cans of insecticide. That spray can of was this reviews saving grace - 1 can, 1 star. It’d be...
