Our server was phenomenal, professional, pleasant. She made our experience nice considering the food was not quite up to par. She made it right. Place was very busy. Manager shut down dining area (we were last served) and wouldn't allow others to dine in, just carry out and scolded customers to wait outside. She was loud, rude and mean, very unprofessional. We were trying to have a pleasant breakfast after church service. I enjoy Waffle Houses for some reason and is normally a great experience but that morning was challenging to enjoy due to managers conduct. She was not rude to us directly, but nonetheless, we didnt care how she talked down to other customers and especially her staff. She was mad and frustrated while holding the chain blocking off dining area. We were impressed by our server, she kept her composure and remained calm and pleasant. Manager needs to take lessons from our server on great customer service. Our visit was good till the manager, made the experience an unpleasant, upsetting and disappointing one. We sympathized for the rest off the staff, servers and cooks of her inappropriate behavior. Food was good for the most part. Server, excellent. Cooking staff, wonderful. Manager on duty, horrifically upsetting. I do still recommend coming in to dine regardless of our experience that day. The pleasant staff will do you well and hope that manager doesnt bdhave the way she did with you. Bon appetit and...
Read moreEdit: Downgraded from 2 stars to 1 star, because, in 5 months, the problems have gotten worse! It's 2:00 p.m. The restaurant is moderately crowded with SEATED customers. "We Are Only Doing Carry-out At This Time." I asked why, and was told that Lunch servers were going off shift, and evening servers hadn't come on yet. This restaurant's problem is self inflicted. If they can't schedule personnel, they need competent management. Furthermore, Waffle House is supposed to be a 24 hour restaurant! 7:00a.m. to 9:00p.m. is not the service I expect from this restaurant. When I eat at a Waffle House, regardless of the time of day, I tip a disproportionately high amount, because I appreciate the ubiquitousness of the places. Regardless of the time, and with little regard to the geography, I used to be able to get a good meal there. If Waffle House doesn't get back to its core competencies, it will end its years of success with widespread failure. Original post: 5 months ago: I don't get it. It was 1:00 p.m. They weren't short staffed. There were 6 people visible. I walked in the door and "We're only doing carry-out." In general, I like Waffle House. The prices aren't much higher than fast food. The quality is much better. THIS LOCATION, however, near Port Columbus Int'l Airport, will never see me again. They won't see me tip a waitress $15 on a $5 check, while a friend gets chemotherapy down the street. Their neighborhood contains a cancer treatment clinic. If they don't want to serve the people who drive those patients from all over the state, I certainly won't go out of my way to eat...
