I was in Columbus for the annual Jazz and Rib Fest and stayed at the TownePlace Suites in the Easton Area (just off the Morse Road Exit off I-270). Springhill Suites is the adjacent property. Easton Town Center Shopping Mall is less than 1 mile away.
There appears to be a group or 2 staying here this weekend. Several children are not being supervised. They are running up and down the hallways. They can be heard running on the floor above me also. Yesterday, I had to call the room above me. I informed the dad that it sounded like someone was going to crash through my ceiling. He chuckled and said he’d take care of it. While you can hear noise from upstairs (the ceiling Iamp rattles with the stomping, running, etc. from upstairs) nothing could be heard from anyone on either side.
The many amenities make the room nice. Kitchen with ceramic stove top, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, etc.; dining table for 4; spacious bathroom; multiple power outlets; seating area; comfortable bed; smart TV. In addition to the local channels, you can watch ESPN (also 2 & U), NFL Network, NHL Network, MLB Network, Golf Channel, HBO, Showtime, multiple news channels, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, Lifetime and others. Streaming services are also available (Netflix, Hulu, Crackle, YouTube and Pandora). Charging outlets throughout the lobby area are also a bonus. WiFi is available throughout the property, including outside patio.
Adults and children keep themselves entertained with the billiards table, pool, interactive drawing TV screen, fitness center and bar area.
Blow dryers are not supplied in the room. I do have 2 complaints. One, the sink was dirty upon my arrival. I could smell lettuce as I got closer to the sink. Two, the trash can under the sink needed to be cleaned. It smelled of trash when I opened the cabinet door. Also, my room was not cleaned by 5:30 pm on Sunday. I informed the Front Desk upon checkout whom assured me that the issues would be addressed with the appropriate people.
Overall, I give TownePlace Suites 4.5 out of 5. The noise could have been avoided with the children not running and doing who knows...
Read moreHere’s the short version of my review-
Credit card charges without approval were made. Terrible customer service. Their pool Covid policy makes little sense and makes it difficult to actually utilize the pool. We’ve stayed at many hotels during Covid and this is the only one with such an awful policy. Most hotels are asking that you reserve time slots in order to keep numbers down at the pool and that policy ensures every gets a chance to use the pool but at this hotel you simply sign in, stay as long as you want, but once they’re at 25 people no one else can go in therefore the same 25 people can swim all night and no one else can.
hotel was nice but the customer service is a nightmare. We are Titanium Elite members and stay in a Marriott hotel two weekends a month at minimum. After we checked in we changed our reservation from 3 nights to 1 because of changes in our schedule but the hotel had already charged my credit card. I understood that of course as the change was my fault. However, we were already to stay the additional two nights after all so when I went down to have my keys validated again the lady at the desk was exceptionally rude. She then tried to charge my card a second time and I had already asked my credit card company not to approve any additional charges. During the 20 minutes I had to deal with this person she lied to me (told me she was not trying to charge my card a second time, so I called my credit card company and they told me that she in fact had ran it a second time and it had been denied- thankfully.), she accused me of lying about the charge still pending on my account, and she told me it would be best that we just leave. I cannot believe the treatment we received at this hotel. I recommend staying at Courtyard in Easton or Residence Inn Polaris. We just tried this place because it is a new hotel. It is just not worth the hassle to be disrespected and treated so poorly when you are paying to stay somewhere. Jason and...
Read moreFirst of all, the location is awesome. You're near several shopping areas and not far from the airport. The staff at this hotel is unbelievable - they're very friendly and helpful. The rooms are great, clean and comfortable. I would recommend this location purely for these reasons.
That's the good part. There is unfortunately a not pleasant part.
I stayed here for 9 days because I was working in the area. Unfortunately, for most of my stay, the hotel was host to multiple softball teams. I don't have a problem with softball teams. I think competition is good for kids. I do however have a problem with parents who let their kids race up and down the halls after 10pm, hang out in the lobby drinking until 1am and then stumble up to their rooms, and upon finding themselves locked out, proceed to bang on the doors to wake their kids up to let them in. I also have a problem with those same parents who once they're back in their rooms, they decide to go visiting each other to recap all the fun they had. I was woken up on a few different nights due to all of those things. I probably wouldn't have minded the inconsiderate behavior of the parents so much if it wasn't for the fact that I needed to get an early start on all of those days. When you need to be up and out by 630 am and you're kept awake till well after 2am, it doesn't bode well for a successful day. I didn't even bother complaining to the front desk simply because of the fact that some of these parents were intoxicated and probably would have made life difficult for the poor staff and myself.
I would recommend that the hotel set out clear rules for large parties that they have to abide by. I get it, some of these parents are living vicariously through their daughters and it's like a mini vacation to some of them. But there are still some basic courtesies that should be given to the other guests...
