I stayed here with some friends from PA during March of 2021. As CO locals, my partner and I were very upset with the way the staff treated our friends as well as ourselves. We checked in after hours because we had to travel across the state after getting off work. We arrived around 1015pm and put our luggage in our room before going to have a drink with a friend living in Crested Butte. After a long day and travel we all took showers, chatted for a bit and went to sleep around 1am. The following morning we were harassed by a bald man telling that we were a-holes and had kept everyone in the building up by showering and being noisy. The staff was aggressive and extremely rude over this issue and also accused our group of threatening hotel guests and breaking into the hot tub. When we proceeded to try and check out after loading our vehicle they ignored us completely.
In response to your reply... We did not leave out the part about being "drunk" because we were not, we had one drink at a bar and were likely confused for another party that was drunk and loud. We do not appreciate being accused for this behavior and think your response to this is 180 degrees away from what it should be. As someone who working in property management in a ski resort town I think your staff's behavior ranging from screaming at us, to ignoring us, to having the audacity to reply to our review saying we lied and continuing to accuse us of actions we did not take is very VERY unprofessional.
I will likely be passing my review along to the BBB since it seems your only interest is to dispute every word we say and ignore our side of the story. Had you spoken to our group at checkout instead of yelling and threatening to kick us out as we vacated our room for scheduled checkout, we would have been very willing to address all your concerns. Instead you have continued to falsely accuse us of behavior that was not exhibited by our group.
I hope your management and staff are reviewed frequently and this issue is corrected. This is not how a lodge should treat their guest. Accusations should be handled calmly and...
Read moreExcellent stay. Beyond accommodating. We were two travelers passing through Crested Butte for some mountain biking during an extended camping adventure. The Elk Mountain Lodge had one of the last rooms in town - a beautiful room on the top floor with probably the best view in the place. It was pricey but we were pumped for a real bed and the opportunity to do our laundry. Doug was very warm and welcoming on the phone that morning, and said that we would be able to do our laundry. He even offered to explore gear options in town for us and make our reservations if we wanted. When we arrived that night, Doug was still there to greet us. He gave us every bit of information we needed to know and even showed us a place to wash our camp kitchen gear. Parking was ample and safe even with the influx of people that weekend in town to view the foliage. The lodge has a rich and interesting history and is beautifully preserved. The common area is big, cozy, and stocked with instruments, reading material, and games. The bed was super comfy and the view of the mountains was awesome. The floor creaks and we could hear murmurs of other guests but hey, it’s an old place, which is exactly what I loved about it. Maybe bring some ear plugs if you’re sensitive like me, or have Doug make you a drink at the bar. Breakfast was outstanding. Hot breakfast and dark coffee in a bright breakfast room. The other staff were excited to talk adventure and gave us a ton of recommendations. Everyone was just so friendly and seemed to really enjoy what they do. I’d absolutely love to stay here again some day, especially during ski season. P.S. Best scone I’ve ever had. We had to stop back in a few days later as they were cleaning up after breakfast and were offered the delicious leftovers....
Read moreWe had a truly wonderful stay at the elk mountain lodge. The hospitality there is top notch. From amazingly delicious scones and afternoon dessert treats, marvelous hike and dinner recommendations, to the more “above and beyond” of providing us with an extra fan and allowing us to sanitize our pump parts (nursing mom) in their sanitizer. It’s a great location, a quick walk to town yet just far enough to enjoy the beautiful views in peace and quiet. It felt like a home away from home thanks for Mark! And it’s so great not having to worry about breakfast and being able to get your day going quickly. We were traveling with our baby and there is enough sound protection that she didn’t bother anyone. Highly recommend this place for your visit to crested butte.
Pro tip: if you visit in the summer, it can get hot in the room especially on their 3rd floor. An extra fan would help, or just creating a cross breeze with open doors and windows as much as possible. This will probably be the case anywhere you stay as AC doesn’t seem...
