Old Town Inn was suggested to us when we decided spontaneously to stay the night in Crested Butte. Beds and pillows were comfortable. The room was dated, but clean and that’s what matters most. The Old Town Inn is super convenient to town and you can easily walk to whatever you want as far as shopping, food, visitor center … It was nice to have a few options for breakfast (hot oatmeal, bagels, English muffins, hard boiled eggs, bananas, coffee) starting at 7:30am. We would have appreciated being able to get just a cup of coffee (cream and sugar too) at 6 or 6:30am. My husband drove to Camp 4 Coffee at 6:15 am to get us coffee. Lighting in the room (108) was TERRIBLE! When we closed the drapes for privacy, it was as if we were in a cave. There were 3 lamps in the room none of which were bright. I wanted to sit on the bed and read the brochures and map we picked up at the visitor’s center and I had to wear a headlamp from our camping gear to have enough light to read by. Lots of reviews mention staff and we too had a good experience. The general manager was friendly and helpful. Parking was easy, the cookies were delish, and we felt safe. Bring your own light and you’ll have a great stay!

Read moreRooms are typical for a hotel at this price range. Nothing big missing, nothing special. Everything worked and it was clean and comfortable. Staff was nice and generally accommodating. Breakfast was also typical for those hotels that offer it at all - "continental" with many forms of carbs and some boiled eggs. It was okay to get the day started. Coffee creamer was limited, then packs of powder. This could have been better. Half n' half isn't that expensive. Their full-time coffee service is actually coffee that's left over from the morning, so it's cold by the afternoon, if that matters to you. Not a deal-killer by any means. Their staff must hear about it because they appeared to be tired of hearing about it. Their LOCATION IS FANTASTIC, especially for the price. It's an easy walk to anywhere, like to get a real breakfast in town. But be prepared to pay a lot for breakfast and coffee in town. There is clearly a lot of money in this town, which diminishes its charm. Small to mid-sized coffee in town ranged from $4 to $6! And you'll have a tough time finding breakfast for less than $50 for two or $75 for lunch/dinner. All in all, we liked the place and will...
Read moreWe were really looking forward to using the hot tub after a long day skiing, but it had a horrible smell coming from it. The water was green and murky and smelled like bacteria & old seaweed. There was also pieces of dirt and what looked like mold floating in it. We went out dressed in our bathing suits and towels and everything but immediately had to go back to our room because we didn’t want to risk getting an infection from the water.
Neither of us (2 people) could sleep at all during our stay, most likely due to the old springy bed and uncomfortable pillows. There were also multiple rooms having parties inside of their rooms and inside the hallways as well.
We did like the prime location of the hotel to the town. It was in 10 minute walking distance of all of the main restaurants, bars, stores & shops. The free shuttle to the mountain was also a 5 minute walk away. We also enjoyed the home-y atmosphere of the hotel although the decor and amenities were fairly outdated. The complimentary breakfast was amazing and the main reason I added 2 stars instead of 1 star.
Decent price for what you get, although we will be back to Crested Butte we won’t be staying...
